Well, generally you would say something like “I’m going to Dallas Theological Seminary to work on my doctorate.” I’m not “calling bs” on this person just yet, but it sounds fake.eh?

I kinda agree that people shy away from where they get their teachings. Even adults not just young people.
I’m usually point blank with this when I say that I received my first Bible teachings at the Orthodox Church and over the years I have learned more about Protestant Churches and Catholic Churches.
Many other Churches do this so it’s pretty standard.
I think a member here called RoughSoul has a youth group camp which is also pretty standard among many churches Protestant, Catholic and Orthodox and the next step up is going to Theology school after that.

That’s cool. A lot of professors have deified the intellect and while they are very smart and knowledgeable, there is a lack of the presence - certainly not all, because some of the greatest theologians studied at bible schools (Billy Graham, John Lennox, Adrian Rogers, Saul, D. James Kennedy, etc).
I’m not sure what this means but it sounds pretty funny.

I got mine at the school of hard knocks - a small Baptist church in West Texas, then Campus Crusade at Texas Tech, the received the Baptsim of the Holy Spirit in Feb ‘94.
Now, I’ve learned that Godly character and walking in God’s way trumps all revelation and knowledge.

I haven’t done any major theology at a university after my youth Bible training at the church besides reading and learning from others until I created my own understanding which is subject to change but very unlikely to change.
But one thing I learned is that my experience or your experience is not this young man’s experience.
He has his own journey and God bless him.
He’s in a good path even if he’s doing the equivalent of the GED in terms of the quality level.
Oh, I know. I wish him the best. I did work for Teen Challenge of West Texas and applied to go work with David Wilkerson’s ministry up near PA and was hoping on the streets of NY, but my application was denied. Go figure.
