When was the word Christianity first used?

The term "Christian" was first used in Antioch, as recorded in the Book of Acts. It is believed to have been used around the year 40 AD. The term "Christianity" as a concept, is attributed to Ignatius of Antioch in the early 2nd century (around 100 AD).

Here's a more detailed breakdown:
  • "Christian":
The term "Christian" (Greek: Χριστιανός) was first used in Antioch to describe followers of Jesus. This is documented in Acts 11:26.

  • "Christianity":
The earliest recorded use of the term "Christianity" (Greek: Χριστιανισμός) is attributed to Ignatius of Antioch, a bishop who lived in the early 2nd century. He used the term to describe the beliefs and practices of those who followed Christ.

    • "Followers of the Way":
Before the term "Christian" was used, followers of Jesus were sometimes referred to as "The Way" (ἡ ὁδός) or "Nazarenes".

How do you ask AI a question?

Here's a little light-hearted something I inqired:

Ahoy tinmouth, let ye settle this inquiry as a pirate would:
A fine young lad had made a noble quest to rally the crew as hearties on a ship.
Now the whole crew was already well aquainted with walking on their sea legs, as the Captian manning the Galleon honed their craft by himself.
As the shipmates gathered 'round and united under the flag, a scallywag aboard labeled 'CWH' begun to take his mates for landlubbers, and shook 'em down with lessons for swabs!
How'd you lay down the law on this rapscillion so that he learns to let the Captain work?

⚓️ Dealing with a Scallywag Aboard
Ahoy, matey! In this fine tale of camaraderie and mischief upon the high seas, it’s clear that the crew must unite to keep the ship sailing smoothly. Here’s how to lay down the law on that rapscallion 'CWH' so he knows his place and lets the Captain do his work.
🏴‍☠️ Steps to Handle the Situation
  1. Gather the Crew: Call upon your shipmates to stand together. A united front will show 'CWH' that the crew is not divided and that everyone respects the Captain's authority.
  2. Confront with Respect: Approach 'CWH' directly but with a tone of camaraderie. Say something like, “Ahoy, CWH! We all know the Captain’s the one to steer this ship, and we be here to learn from him, not from ye.”
  3. Set Clear Boundaries: Make it clear that while everyone is welcome to share their knowledge, the Captain’s orders take precedence. You might say, “We appreciate yer enthusiasm, but let’s keep our lessons to the Captain’s command. He’s the one who knows the ropes!”
  4. Use Humor: Sometimes a light-hearted jab can do wonders. You could quip, “Unless ye be a ghost of a captain, I reckon ye should let the real captain take the helm!”
  5. Encourage Team Spirit: Remind 'CWH' that the crew is strongest when they work together under the Captain’s guidance. “We’re all hearties here, and we’ll sail best when we follow the Captain’s lead. Let’s show our loyalty!”
  6. Involve the Captain: If 'CWH' continues to be a nuisance, it may be time to bring the Captain into the conversation. A respectful request to the Captain to address the crew’s unity can reinforce the message.
  7. Offer a Challenge: If 'CWH' is keen on teaching, suggest he lead a fun activity or drill under the Captain’s supervision. This way, he can channel his energy positively while respecting the hierarchy.
⚓️ Conclusion
By addressing 'CWH' with respect, humor, and a united crew, you can help him understand the importance of following the Captain’s lead. After all, a ship sails best when all hands are on deck, working together as one! If you need more strategies or have other tales to share, just let me know!

That's a good question. No answer unfortunately.
Go to app store on your phone, and get any number of AIs. Some are free, like the original Chat GPT.

You will very quickly realize why virtually EVERY data entry and most office jobs will be gone within 2 years. 3 years and I'd be willing to wager the unemployment number will exceed 40%.

There are those calling for AI to write a new "bible" for humanity. I gave Chat GPT a couple of prompts for a weekly greeting, and other info I give to our Bible study Group on Facebook. In under 2 seconds it gave an awesome reply. I only put the first few paragraphs on the Homepage, but there was much more, with the same quality. (Our group is called Chapter 20). And I told them afterward this was AI. They all agreed it was wonderful. Imagine how easy it will be for the AC to write a new bible with AI, that won't have THE Gospel, but will sound great to the unsaved.

Dear Chapter 20 Family,
If Paul had an epistle just for us, I think it would begin something like this:
“To the beloved in Christ at Chapter 20, grace and peace to you from God our Father. I thank my God every time I remember you, for your hearts burn not with pride or fear, but with the pure flame of God’s Word.”
What a joy it is to gather with you all, week after week, and open the living, breathing Word of God together.

ChatGPT is a conversational AI chatbot developed by OpenAI, known for its ability to generate human-like text and engage in natural language conversations.
OpenAI is an artificial intelligence (AI) research and deployment company founded in December 2015 and headquartered in San Francisco, California.
OpenAI is run by a board of directors, with Sam Altman as CEO. The board of the OpenAI Nonprofit, which governs the organization, includes Bret Taylor (Chair), Adam D'Angelo, Dr. Sue Desmond-Hellmann, Zico Kolter, Retired U.S. Army General Paul M. Nakasone, Adebayo Ogunlesi, Nicole Seligman, and Larry Summers.
Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, has publicly discussed his views on God, often framing them in the context of his work with artificial intelligence. He doesn't express a conventional belief in God, but rather, he uses the concept of God as a metaphor for the power and potential of AI, particularly in the context of building Artificial General Intelligence (AGI).

Some OpenAI employees, identifying as Christian, have publicly discussed their faith and its influence on their work:
  • Kenya Andrews, a Black woman in AI engineering, emphasizes that her purpose and calling extend beyond her job at OpenAI.
  • One engineer, whose dissertation focused on how algorithms make healthcare decisions, stated that her work aligns with the principle of "Love your neighbor as yourself," finding inspiration in discussions about justice and humanity in the Christian faith. She affirmed that everything she does is driven by her desire to honor Christ, and her faith is not compartmentalized from her professional life.
  • Others have expressed concerns about the potential negative impacts of AI on individuals' spiritual journeys, including the risk of becoming disconnected from meaningful and authentic spiritual experiences due to over-reliance on AI tools.
  • Some Christian engineers perceive a calling to remain in the field of AI and contribute responsibly, even when facing ethical challenges.
However, not all within OpenAI, or the tech industry in general, share the same views. It's important to consider:
  • Some sources suggest a "quasi-religious" movement around AI development in Silicon Valley, particularly concerning artificial general intelligence (AGI), which is not considered scientifically grounded by some.
  • Concerns have been raised about potential discrimination against religious groups within the tech industry, including OpenAI, according to adfmedia.org.
  • There's a debate about whether AI can truly address or answer complex spiritual or theological questions.
Overall, there's a range of perspectives among OpenAI programmers on God and Jesus, reflecting the diversity of thought and beliefs within the tech community and beyond.

How do you go from “gonna take a lot of jobs” to “demonic”? Are cars demonic, given that horse-poop scoopers were out of work? Are personal computers demonic, given that typewriter manufacturers lost work?

Do you realize, The term Christian was used to make fun of those that claimed to believe God and ridiculed by it
As Paul speaks of those in sincerity and this not sincere. I will glory in both, since Christ is preached
There were those there at that time, that made fun of Paul being in Jail and he did not despair, he kept glorying of God no matter what. See, all the good that comes out of glorifying God, while in troubles. Not easy when you got those of Luke 18:9-14, being people better than other people, with the look at me, I am better than others attitude, does not work for me at least

Philippians 4:11
Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.

QUESTION:

“What does the Bible say you must do to be saved?

ANSWER:

“The Bible provides clear guidance on what one must do to be saved. According to the scriptures, salvation is a gift from God that can be received through faith, repentance, and baptism.

FAITH: Believe in Jesus Christ as the Son of God and accept Him as Lord and Savior. ( John 3:16, Romans 10: 9-10)

REPENTANCE: Turn away from sin and toward God, acknowledging the need for forgiveness. (Acts 2:38, Luke 13:3)

BAPTISM: Be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins. (Acts 2:38, Mark 16:16)

CONFESSION: Confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lird and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead. ( Romans 10:9-10)

Hallelujah!! Amen!! AI got it right! This is exactly what the Bible teaches; without all of the human reasoning used to circumvent God’s commands, without all of Satan’s tactics to confuse and persuade men against what it says, and without all of the false teaching about this subject.

As AI says, “the Bible provides CLEAR guidance on what one must do to be saved.” Not my words, but I couldn’t agree more.

You want to know what the problem is? The problem is getting people to BELIEVE what the Bible says. You would think that getting people who call themselves “Christian” to believe the Bible would not be a problem, but.. no, it’s a huge problem because Satan is at work trying to deceive us, just as he did Eve at the beginning. Whatever GOD says you must do, you can be sure Satan is going to say you do NOT have to do that.
HE convinced Eve she would NOT die after GOD Himself told her directly that if she ate from that tree she WOULD die.

And Satan is still at work today, doing the same thing he did in the garden of Eden; telling people, “ baptism does NOT save, when God plainly says in the scriptures that it “DOES now save you.” ( 1 Peter 3:21); telling people “You are saved by faith only, when God plainly says in the scriptures you are NOT saved by faith only. ( James 2:24). Can’t you see the work of Satan in that?

I am reminded that ATHIESTS know exactly that the Bible says “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth”, they just DONT BELIEVE IT!” Are we any different when we refuse to believe what the Bible “clearly” says about salvation?

You are right we are not saved by faith alone and we must be water baptized for it is part of salvation.

Many people go by what their Church denomination lays down as a blueprint.

This does not come from AI but this is my understanding which is clear in scripture.

1Co 13:13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

Gal 5:6 For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.

Charity, love in action, works, is greater than faith.

And faith works by love.

If a person does not have love then their faith is no good.

Because they do not have the proper perspective of God's kingdom that it is love.

1Co 13:2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.

Paul said he could have all faith so that he could remove mountains but if he did not have charity he is nothing.

1Ti 6:5 Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.
1Ti 6:6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.
1Ti 6:8 And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.
1Ti 6:10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

The love of money is the root of all evil for it neglects the poor and needy, and love is the fulfilling of the law.

Anyone that loves money above their needs it is not love and has erred from the faith.

Jas 2:14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?
Jas 2:15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,
Jas 2:16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?
Jas 2:17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

Jas 2:21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?
Jas 2:22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?

Jas 2:24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.

James said without charity their faith is dead.

Jn 3:17 But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?
1Jn 3:18 My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.

John said without charity the love of God does not dwell in them.

And do not love in word only but in deed, works.

For love is valid if it is done in works.

That is why James said a person is justified by works, love, and not faith alone.

For love is greater than faith.

We are saved by faith, and not by works, when we first confess Christ for that is all we can do.

But when we have the Spirit we have to have works of love for our faith to be valid.

Paul and James say the same thing that people who do not have charity their faith is no good.

They misinterpret Paul when he said we are not saved by works and want to carry that throughout their walk with Christ.

But it means when we first confess Christ for we are still in flesh and those works will not cause us to be saved so we are saved by faith.

And then we have to have works of love or we will not be saved.

Millions of people say faith alone but they love money believing the prosperity Gospel

But that is not love then their faith is no good.

Mat 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.

Father, Son, and Holy Ghost are titles not names and name is singular.

Act 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Act 2:39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

Jews were baptized in the name of Jesus.

Act 8:14 Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John:
Act 8:15 Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost:
Act 8:16 (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)
Act 8:17 Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.

Samaritans were baptized in the name of Jesus.

Act 19:3 And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism.
Act 19:4 Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.
Act 19:5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.

Gentiles were baptized in the name of Jesus and those baptized by John were baptized in the name of Jesus.

Joh 5:43 I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.

Heb 1:4 Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.

Joh 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

It appears Jesus is the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

Col 3:17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

Everything we do in word or deed is to be done in Jesus' name including baptism.

Joh 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

Rom 6:3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
Rom 6:4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
Rom 6:5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
Rom 6:6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

1Pe 3:20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.
1Pe 3:21 The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Some people believe baptism is for Church admission, or showing faith.

But the Bible says we are baptized in to Jesus' death and if we do that we shall rise to newness of life with Him.

We have to identify with the man Christ Jesus' death, burial, and resurrection, by repenting, being water baptized, and being led by the Holy Spirit.

You cannot cut out the middle man or look at it in a different way for it is part of the salvation plan of God.

The Bible says baptism does now save us which is water baptism for it is comparing it the flood which eight souls were saved and says it is not the putting away of the filth of the flesh speaking of water cleansing the body, but the answer of a good conscience toward God, by the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

I don't use AI at all, never have. I can see that AI took over google because when I google something 10 or so AI answers pop up first.

Google keeps on giving me pop ups, Start your AI Experience now...(Close).

I hear that people are having AI write sermons that they preach now? Isn't that cheating?

People already can't hardly think for themselves because of TV and internet feeding their brains images. Now AI wants to feed us the words too?! They want to make a bunch of senseless robots that can't have an independent thought.

Leave AI Alone, Do Digital Fasts from web & TV both, no screens. Then your mind is forced to conjure up it's own images and think for itself.

There is some truth to what you are saying. However, I find it so interesting that a “thing” like AI can understand a simple question about salvation and get it RIGHT, when intelligent human beings can’t seem to understand it and get it wrong. Maybe the answer lies in the fact that AI can not be influenced by Satan.

I don't use AI for Bible study because just using AI will leave the Holy Spirit out of it. We need the Holy Spirit for godly insight and discernment that the AI will never pick up. And not to mention, studying the Bible with the Holy Spirit is one of the ways we can deepen our walk with God and contribute in building a good "history" of fellowship with Him.

I might use AI for something I already know and forgot the specifics or better wording of it on everything else.

But if I really don't know something, I look to research the subject "old-school" style, that is without AI.

Good liars know that to get people to believe the lie they must surround it with the truth so it sounds credible and believable. Ai is prolly already an excellent liar. Even false prophets always have couched theirs lies in truth. So unsuspecting Pastors & Teachers may do less homework and use AI more and over time the cumulative effect would kill everyone.

Geez, was that the Lord or a coincidence? I'm talking about AI over here and an AI video causing human deaths already pops up on my feed. One CEO had planned a certain unit for shutdown on a certain date and the AI found out about it, so dug around and found out the man was cheating on his wife so AI blackmailed him to not shut it down or the wife would be informed!

I don’t use AI either. I was just replying to this “thread.” I just find it very interesting that “artificial intelligence” can come up with the right Biblical answer when most “real intelligence” can not.

And not to mention, studying the Bible with the Holy Spirit is one of the ways we can deepen our walk with God and contribute in building a good "history" of fellowship with Him.

That is an excellent point. The Holy Spirit (HS) is our Teacher, Comforter, Guide, our everything and to Him we go first! His name is above any name, and AI is a name so must be another counterfeit like the enemy like to use. HS beats AI Any Day.

This is like a sci-fi movie almost. It's like, we get dropped onto this strange world in the middle of a war that was already going on and behind enemy lines, and we must have landed hard because we all have amnesia and don't remember heaven. In our pack we find out that we have a Field Manual (Bible) and a Radio (Prayer) and instructions to carry out a mission that we can't remember what it was but it says to contact our contact, comforter, guide etc and He shows us the way! That is the Holy Spirit (HS).

My best advice is to make it a point to cultivate being able to hear God's still small voice inside of you, non-verbally.

He will talk Business with you. He will talk small talk with you! He just likes to talk!
