When I am in a dead rush hurry, I become very focused and very hyper observant. I'm sure it is murder on my blood pressure, and it takes a lot of energy and cannot be sustained for more than about 2 hours without serious detriment.
It gets the job done, but I don't like it.
Also people become obstacles. I don't really see them as people anymore. Obstacles that cannot, under any circumstances, be plowed through, but obstacles anyway.
As an outside observer, I must note that Lynx also has a mode that appears in the exact opposite way -- his "Meetup Mode." In "Meetup Mode", he becomes very focused and hyper observant about how people will get where they need to go, what he can do to provide the things they need, and how he can help keep people fed.
The obstacles in this case, are anything that gets in the way of him trying to make things more convenient for people.
He won't care if you're a few hours or even states away -- he will drive however long it takes to pick you up and take you back if needed. He doesn't care if you need a ride from the airport two hours away in a huge city with crazy traffic, and it's the middle of rush hour -- he will be there to pick you up, and take you back, if needed.
He'll show up with a mini-van full of everything from backup laptops to toilet paper and plastic cutlery if he thinks someone can use them. And he'll be up at 5 in the morning cooking French toast, even if it means (accidentally, so it was said) swiping the ONE special loaf of low-carb bread -- from among 6 other regular loaves just sitting there on the counter -- to make sure people have a proper breakfast. He'll cook a boatload of chocolate gravy in the afternoon to make sure everyone's sweet tooth(s) won't revolt.
I've heard some people say, "Oh, well you're a girl, so of course he would try to impress the ladies." Nope. I've seen him in all kinds of situations, with all kinds of different people of both genders and all ages, and if you are a friend, that's all that counts. He will do anything in his power to help and he won't accept a dime for it, even when you try to shove money at him (ask me how I know.)
In fact, if you make the mistake of going to use the restroom to wash your hands, you might come back and find he's paid for your lunch.
It's funny when I think about it, because he has often accused me on being so focused on trying to take care of other people, that I can't relax and just enjoy being with a group.
But he does the exact same thing, in his own way -- it's just that he's a lot better at it

-- and doesn't get lost in the hustle.
Le sigh. I have a lot to learn.
