Read verse 37 more closely. Peter preached. They heard...given understanding. Their hearts were pricked...circumcision of the heart. Their wills were altered...what shall we do?

They were born again by the word of God and the activity of the Spirit of God within them. Of course they responded in obedience. God uses Peter's sermon to bring enlightenment and the Spirit wrote those words on their hearts. That's the new covenant promise...Ezekiel 36:26-27.

Are you implying they were reborn in verse 37?

Are you implying they had the Holy Ghost in verse 37?

I'm not implying anything. I'm saying it outright. Life comes before birth.

LOL, no your implying and is not true.

Your saying there is no Hell and everyone is reborn.

As I said in the past, we are alive in the womb, but when we are born we are born in sin.

Spiritual life DOES NOT COME before spiritual rebirth!!

So why would Peter tell them what they had to do??

If they had the Holy Ghost why did Peter tell them they will be filled with the Holy Ghost later?

Why did they obey and get baptized in JESUS name for remission of sins?

You might want to tell the OP that he is wrong, and that the invisible things of God are not known by the things that appear. And why do you assume things for me? I never said there is no hell or that everyone gets saved. Those are assumptions you made based on your lack of understanding.

Peter told them what to do because they asked. He probably also told them how to respond because they were Jews and likely thought that they were in good stead with God due to their lineage and outward keeping of the law. Peter's answer was not unlike what John the Baptist told the Pharisees...their need to bring forth fruit meet for repentance.

Being filled with the Spirit is not the same as being indwelt by the Spirit. What is evidenced throughout the book of Acts, beginning with Pentecost, is the promise of the Father spoken of by Joel and given by Jesus...Matthew 3:11...He will baptize with the Holy Spirit...

They were baptized because baptism is a fruit meet for repentance.

This will be news to alot of people in the BDF who believe life only comes after salvation.
Including you? And yet we read that the Word is the light that lights every man that comes into the world.

Jhn 1:9
That was the true Light, which is lighting (φωτίζει , present active indicative) every man that cometh into the world.

And -
Jhn 1:4
In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

And -
Jhn 8:12
Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

A lot of people have been wrongly taught to add the word "spiritually" to the word "dead" when they see it in the Bible in certain places, when those words never occur together in the Bible.

Not me. This was the point I was making all along that many objected to. Spiritual life definitely precedes spiritual birth.

Ponder the parallel...

Natural birth:
Baby turns prior to exiting the water of the womb, and receives life sustaining breath.

Spiritual rebirth:
Believer turns in repentance prior to exiting the water of baptism, and receives life sustaining Holy Spirit.

"For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made..." Romans 1:16-20

amen

“Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.”
‭‭John‬ ‭3:5-6‬ ‭

“Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins,

and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭2:38-39‬ ‭
“For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.”
‭‭Galatians‬ ‭3:27-29‬ ‭

What is OP???

Thank you, this is between you and me, not the OP.

My lack of understanding is due to your thoughts.

What does this mean? "their need to bring forth fruit meet for repentance"

What is the difference between being filled with the Spirit and being indwelt by the Spirit?

Evidence of JESUS filling people with the Holy Ghost.

Acts 2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Acts 10,
45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.

46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,

Acts 19:6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.

Which is what the OP was about. The parallel between the physical development of a child of man and the spiritual development of a child of God.

What did John the Baptist mean when he told the Pharisees they needed to bring forth fruits meet for repentance?

All the examples you listed are examples of the baptism with the Spirit promised by God in Joel 2:28 which occurred initially on the day of Pentecost. This is the baptism John the Baptist said Jesus would perform in Matthew 3:11. They are all outward manifestations of the Spirit noticeable to those present. The indwelling of the Spirit is internal and is given to bring individuals to salvation.

No idea why John would say that, what does that have to do with us being baptizedin JESUS name for remission of sins today?

Did you see this question?

What is the difference between being filled with the Spirit and being indwelt by the Spirit?

What do you mean, "IF" it is true??? If you do not believe Scripture, that is your problem.

The world cannot receive the Spirit of truth. Hello? We are called out of the world. Made alive in Christ. Then we can hear.

Again, Jesus told us why people do not hear. You cannot respond to something you
do not hear nor do people choose to believe what they consider to be foolishness.

John6-44-1-Corinthians2-14-Romans8-7-8.png

"No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him." John 6 verse 44 The natural man does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God. For they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned. 1 Corinthians 2 verse 14 For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God's law; indeed, it cannot. Those who are in the flesh cannot please God. Romans 8 verse 7-8
Not sure why the attitude.

Is it your position that salvation is not available to whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord?

Did you see this question?

What is the difference between being filled with the Spirit and being indwelt by the Spirit?
Being indwelt by the Spirit is when the Spirit takes up residence in an individual and places them into Christ...1 Corinthians 12:13.
Being filled with the Spirit is being controlled, influenced, and empowered by the Spirit.

When we get baptize in JESUS name we go into HIM.

Romans 6:3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?

When JESUS fills us with the Holy Ghost HE comes into us.

There is no difference between being filled with and being indwelt.
