I just finished watching that youtube video link you put up in here. Quite a "wake up" video.
Makes a lot of sense about Santa's connections with the Scandinavian pagan god Thor, I learned a lot about Norse Mythology in school, though since I am born into Norway this should be plain normal.
After some few years ago I have became less and less happy about the way Christmas was celebrated during the 25th as well as during most of December, I am very Santa Claws Anti, Anti against most Christmas decorations, though I do must say I did thought it looked nice with all the lights put up in the dark, I don't like the Christmas Tree, or the last time I was at my parents place I had no interest in going out to the woods getting a Christmas tree nor decorating around in the house(my mom is a Santa Claws fanatic, she loves decorating around with these dolls with such typical red hats on them). Something they didn't mention in the video is that in pagan Scandinavian they also used to put out porridge for the "nisse"(nissen is a kind of demon or troll from the underground, if you'd not treat him nice, he'd make a lot of trouble for you and your life, and once you'd move away from this house he'd always join you to your new house), he was more of a curse I beleive than a blessing for the people having him in the house.
It is funny how last Christmas's I have felt as there is something that wasn't right with it, as well as reading about this 25th December date being pagan, so I was starting to come to an conclusion of not making so much out of Christmas season in the western world's point of view. I will show my husband this youtube video too. I am fine with not celebrating it during that time, and especially when it is all a manmade and pagan traditions put together in it. Also something funny is that I many many times starting singing those Christmas songs more during summer than during December/winter time. Lol. Would be a lot more special celebrating Sukkot, I think.
Thank you for sharing that video! -God Bless-
