Yes, I am reaching the same conclusion and your observation is very astute.

This Scofield futurist doctrine is soul destroying, causes mental instability, it creates a ferocious need to defend the position at all costs because it is part of their identity, without a shadow of a doubt had some first hand experience with it.

It's a replacement for faith

I remember well how your words were twisted. :(

And if it is any consolation I can relate, the word "deserve" was added to my comment to make it look like I had stated something I had not.
I think you have sustained much worse than me - probably you are "over target" much more, and more precise. :)

I forced myself to take a break for a little while, because talking to some of these is really like talking to rocks.

Good post.

How do you think this point fits ?

“Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel: neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called.

That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭9:6-8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

What point is Paul making here ? Sort of where my point began in the thread .

“And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed. So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham. that the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ. For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.”
‭‭Galatians‬ ‭3:8-9, 14, 16, 26-29‬ ‭KJV‬‬

My point is that doesn’t matter what our flesh and blood says we are a gentile ? An Israelite ? It’s irrelevant that’s not how God identifies Israel

“they are not all Israel, which are of Israel: neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children…That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed.”

Being born of isralite flesh doesn’t make a person any different from being born of gentile flesh . Gods people are those who accept Christ whether they were born of gentile of isralite flesh is irrelevant .
I understand the scripture references you've shared. And agree that those who have not been intentionally blinded must believe in Jesus and obey the gospel commands. However, scripture also indicates that God has kept some blinded so it is impossible for them to see until He allows it. The Apostle Paul pointed out that God is going to deal with those whom He blinded AFTER the times of the Gentiles has been fulfilled. And when God removes the vail from their eyes, the Jews do make the choice to believe in Jesus.

Rom 11:8-11
"(According as it is written, God hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear;) unto this day.
And David saith, Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, and a stumbling block, and a recompence unto them:
Let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see, and bow down their back alway.
I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but rather through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy."

Rom 11:25-32
"For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, UNTIL the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.
And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:
For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.

As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the fathers' sakes.
For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.
For as ye in times past have not believed God, yet have now obtained mercy through their unbelief:
Even so have these also now not believed, that through your mercy they also may obtain mercy.

For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all."

"Until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled" (Luke 21:24) refers to the period between the destruction of Jerusalem (70 AD) and Christ's second coming, during which Gentile nations dominate, Israel is scattered, and Jerusalem is "trampled". This era signifies a temporary pause in Jewish dominion over Jerusalem, lasting until the end of the church age.

Key Aspects of "The Times of the Gentiles"
  • Definition: Originating from Jesus' prophecy in Luke 21:24, this phrase denotes the era when non-Jewish nations hold authority over the world, particularly Jerusalem, following the Jewish diaspora.
  • Context:It follows the Old Testament pattern of Gentile kingdoms (Babylon, Persia, Greece, Rome) dominating God's people and city
    .
    • Duration: This period is understood to last from the Roman destruction of Jerusalem until the return of Christ and the establishment of His kingdom.
    • "Fulfilled" Meaning: The phrase means the time when Gentile domination will conclude, often associated with the finalization of the Gospel's spread to all nations and the end of the Tribulation.
    • Connection to Prophecy: It is often linked with Daniel's visions of world powers (Daniel 2, 7) and Romans 11:25, which mentions a "partial hardening" of Israel until the "fullness of the Gentiles has come in". Excerpt from Internet.

Trust me, I wasn't referring to you. I post like that now (without including a post quote) because it's mentally and spiritually unhealthy for me to interact with certain people here.

You get what you give. And you'd better get over it because you're going to spend eternity with a whole lot of us, like it or not.

Forming conclusive opinions about OT prophecies without an understanding imparted by the holy spirit creates a sort of mental illness.

We don't agree. When Christ returns we'll have the answer. Let's leave it at that. My father is in the middle stages of dementia. He turned 73 yesterday, my parents anniversary is today 54 years together. I'm going to politely ask that we don't refer to someone having mental illness simply as an insult or from anger. Mental illness is real, people suffer with it, families suffer seeing their loved ones deal with it. So please let's leave that insult out of the conversation.

Perhaps I speculate about prophesies more than I should.
It is not a shameful thing to not have the answer.

Well we have THE answer and that's Jesus. As far as prophesies go, we'll know who got it right in the end. The last post here can be "I was right". Until then we're no further than we were on page one. So the question is, where do we go from here?

The very first thing everyone should do is willfully decide that it is best if everyone stick to the topic and have a discussion that stays friendly and focused on what is being said moreso than who said it - then, compare it to scripture and formulate a conclusion.

Plenty of words have been twisted on either side, plenty of swipes, plenty of insults. And no one has changed anyone's opinion. So what's a better way to go forward?
During my time on this forum I have changed my views on some things, deepened my understanding of some things and been challenged to study more.
I did not become a dispensationalist or start believing in a pre-trib rapture, but to those that do why should that matter.
My children read these posts and do not comment, and I am sure many others do the same.

“I understand the scripture references you've shared. And agree that those who have notbeen intentionally blinded must believe in Jesus and obey the gospel commands”

Right.

This is what blinds isreal

“and not as Moses, which put a vail over his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished: but their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ. But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart.

( and when any individual israelite repents and turns to Jesus and the gospel the veil is removed )

Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away.”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭3:13-16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

The entire first church were isralites individually called to believe the gospel . They began preaching to a people who had been blind but some then repented like these three thousand
“Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know: This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses. Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear. Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ. Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation. Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭2:22, 32-33, 36-41‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Jesus death was the culmination of Israel’s blindness they had to reject him in order for him to be crucified and then the gospel sent to all nations them Included. As you see there three thousand isralites priorly who had rejected Jesus repented and accepted Jesus Christ and the gospel and were readily accepted into the church. Along with as the booo continues any gentiles who repented from thier own wrong belief systems and accepted the gospel.
theres bo difference Jews today aren forced to not believe they trust in Moses law and can’t see ost it because they won’t accept Jesus as the messiah promised in the scriptures
theres no salvation for any Jew or gentile without Christ those Jews who rejected him will not be saved they will not inherit anything based on the Old Testament but the curses in it . They won’t inherit the kingdom of God promised in the New Testament either they’ll be like ishmael outcasts intentionally cut out of the inheritance.

Israel’s blindness happened so that the ot could be fulfilled regarding Israel’s rejection of him and then the gospel could be sent to all people as was foretold after his death and resurrection

Throughout the book of acts Jews are repenting and coming to belief of Jesus as well as gentiles. Thier blindness is part of the plan throughout the ot prophets …. But again as long as they individually reject Jesus they have no blessing from God or salvation to come

“Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”
‭‭Acts‬ ‭4:12‬ ‭KJV‬‬

sad long as an individual Jew rejects Jesus thier lost as well as gentile same result and if they repent and accept Jesus they are the same and will inherit the same inheritance that has been promised to all of Abraham’s children

Being a gentile or Jew according to the flesh doesn’t mean anything …..faith in Christ is all that matters to God concerning our identity

Sad to see some still don't see prophecy as written even when its right before there eyes.
I am not glorifying Israel as I'm sure many here are not either but to be clear we are the people of the book too.
Line upon line... here a little there a little ....as its read.
How God sees fit to bring about his will has been the argument in part in this thread as well as in the Israel thread that ended.
Oh how the early churches looked at the same scriptures with out the technology we have today wondered how they explained away the symbols and such on the end day events, even to the point of no Israel existing.

Unbelieving pharisees were/are people of the book, but they weren't/aren't the people of God. There is no life in just the book.

You search the scriptures because you think to have eternal life in them, and these are the ones witnessing concerning me. And you do not want to come to me that you may have life. John 5:39-40

I have been so entertained by you and others here posting one liners of insults and personal negative thoughts towards others
That it reminds me of a story I heard that I like to share.

There once was a young man that ever since he was a child he wanted to be a shepherd.
Living in a big city limited his ability to achieve such a goal, but his passion brought him to every library and book store to study on the matter.
He was over whelmed by the stories he read on the compassion and care that the shepherd had for his flock.
How they gently guided and spoke to the flock and how they protected them. Of how they used there rod and staff for correction.
How attentive they were that no matter how big the flock if one got lost the search was on to find that one.
His passion increased to such a point that he saved his money to visit a place where shepherds were to observe and learn first hand.
Upon arriving he was told by the locals where the shepherds were so he could observe.
He excitedly went to the spot and saw a man guiding a large flock across a barren land, screaming and cussing.
Using his staff and rod striking the sheep that got out of line or tried to run away.
The young man was mortified. This is not what he had read about and quickly approached the man.
Is this the true way shepherds lead the flocks, screaming, abusing, beating asked the young man.
The other man replied....oh its shepherds you want to see they are on the other side of the hill.
I'm the butcher.

It doesn't matter, in the end all questions will be answered by God Himself. I don't believe this is an issue that would send a soul to hell. Unless you have Martin Luthers POV I don't see how he made heaven with that much hate in his heart. Time will tell.
