Abraham never completed the work at Mt Moriah.

The angel stopped Abraham from completing that work.

Thus, Abraham was still reckoned righteous by the Lord because he believed the Lord.
Two problems with your assertion here, first James explicitly says, "Thus, you can see that his (Abraham) faith and his (Abraham) works were active together; his (Abraham) faith was brought to completion by works.

Second if faith alone is sufficient why do the angel have to stop him. Look just repeating errors you have taught isn't impressive. Scripture tells an entirely different story but for some reason some people just stop using the brain God gave them.

So you admit you don’t know if your works are complete. That means you can’t actually know if you’re saved.

But Jesus said, “Come to me all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Where’s the rest in a system where you spend your whole life wondering if you’ve done enough?

That sounds less like rest and more like lifelong anxiety.
Works complete faith. You really should pay attention to what I actually say instead of what your brain tells you I say. Can you try that?

Here's the thing, you believe you're saved but you have no proof you're saved. I know you're going to tell me you read it and youll tell me it's all there in Scripture but what you cant show me is proof that any of it actually applies to you. That's why unlike you I work out my salvation with fear and trembling and rely solely on the mercy of God. Maybe that's why I'm not as sanctimonious and self righteous as many of the people i meet on these sites. I have no anxiety as all I will ever is my hope in the lord and his mercy. I hope not end up like the person in Matt 22:11-14. The warning means nothing to you or you presume it does apply to you. Thats unsightly

Does James state that Abraham's works were complete? No. You're arguing against your own misreading.

It seems that those who say there are requirements beyond faith often can’t clearly define what those requirements are.
We can and we have but as ive told you a 1000 times you don't pay attention. Yiu respond to what's in your head and not to what people actually say.

Where have I said said works need completion? This is another example of your incapacity to pay attention and it's astounding not me how you people get through life. I would consider it a minor miracle if you people still have all your digits.

You are the one not paying attention.

Inquisitor stated, "Abraham never completed the work at Mt Moriah. The angel stopped Abraham from completing that work."

You stated, "James explicitly says, "Thus, you can see that his (Abraham) faith and his (Abraham) works were active together; his (Abraham) faith was brought to completion by works."

He is talking about works being completed. You are arguing about faith being completed.

Get off your high horse.

Saying I’m listening to my brain and not you makes zero sense. All hearing, all seeing, all understanding happens through the brain. That’s how we experience anything at all.

I am not self-righteous and my faith is not in my works but in His works, through which I am made righteous, because He is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow, and my trust in Him is my assurance. Thinking that if my works aren’t complete He will break His promise is absurd.

But without your works you got nothing. Matt 25:31-46. In that entire story the word "faith" appears exactly zero times. I would think if faith alone was sufficient to inherit the Kingdom of heaven it would show up somewhere in a discussion about the end time judgement but instead they apparently wasted time taking about useless stuff like feeding the hungry and clothing the naked etc etc. Fascinating

Again, yes I listen to my brain like any human does. And 10 times would be gross exaggeration of 0, but 1000, that’s really taking it up there.

But you dont pay attention when people post here. You have repeatedly erred whenever you suggest works save people. You have been told a.million times no one believes their works save them but you keep posting it. That suggests you either arent paying attention or you aren't capable of paying attention. Now I always try to be generous of spirit but when the same untruth is said over and over again I begin to think the problem is more the latter than the former.

Matthew 25 is about the evidence of faith, not the source of salvation. The sheep did good works because their hearts trusted God. They did not earn heaven by feeding the hungry. Works flow from faith. They do not replace it.

Again you just can't pay attention. Verses 34-36. Who inherits the kingdom? Where does it say they are blessed by their faith? Oh that's right it doesn't verses 35 and 36 say otherwise.

And what was that thing Jesus said???? Oh I remember now...matt 7:21, only those that do (verb) the will of my heavenly father will enter the kingdom. ANOTHER place faith isn't mentioned.

Matthew 25 describes what the righteous did, not how they became righteous. Fruit shows the tree, it doesn’t create it.

Matthew 7 actually goes against your point since the people Jesus rejects point to their works, and He still tells them to depart. Their works were not enough.

So your opinion. I gave you bible verses.

ANOTHER example of you not paying attention. I have never said works are enough. Let do a test, tell us all what I ACTUALLY have said about works. I can't wait! This should be good.

I am not repeating errors that I have been taught.

I never said "faith alone" because that is not what the scripture states.

Galatians 5:4
You have been severed from Christ, you who are seeking to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace.

Acts 15:11
But we believe that we are saved through the grace of the Lord Jesus, in the same way as they also are.

Acts 20:24
But I do not consider my life of any account as dear to myself, so that I may finish my course and the
ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify solemnly of the gospel of the grace of God.

Yes it's by grace that salvation is available but we are worthy only because we believe

You gave a Bible verse where Jesus says do the will of the Father. What’s the will of the Father? Why does Jesus tell them to depart if they did all the works?

You said works make faith salvific. Paul explains how a person is justified before God, while James explains how genuine faith is shown in a person’s life. Paul speaks of the root of salvation and James speaks of the fruit, because you cannot truly work for someone before you first put your faith in them. Without faith, your works are ultimately just working for yourself. It is like trying to make a tree produce fruit before it has roots, versus a healthy tree naturally bearing fruit. The root(salvation) produces the fruit(works) not the other way around.

I'm sorry, I'm not following you . . . you seem to be saying two things at once that conflict.
The two things that conflict at once, are being saved from sinning, vs being saved while sinning.

It's not hard to follow the difference between God saving people from sinning, vs sinners saying they are saved while sinning. Unless I suppose, you're a sinner saying you're saved by your faith alone, while sinning.

James 2 shows that anyone saying they have faith alone, do not have the faith of our Lord Jesus that saves. They're faith alone is no better than the devil's faith alone in God.

To be perfectly clear . . . no amount of works will other obtain or add to your justification,
which is given you based on your . . . faith alone.

Already quoted Scripture being justified by works, and not by faith alone.

To be perfectly clear:

Are you saying you have faith alone? Are you saying you are justified by your faith alone, while committing sin against God?

Are you saying you have faith alone? Are you saying you are justified by your faith alone, while committing sin against God?
I see you still don’t understand what someone means by saying they’re saved by faith alone.

Just curious, what’s the label over the door where you meet with your fellow perfectionists? Is Anderson in the title?

God justifies the ungodly from their ungodly deeds.
No, it's to make the man righteous.

1 John{3:7}
Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.

No man is righteous by their faith alone, without doing God's righteousness.

I John 3 joins James 2 rebuking the lie of faith alone justification, that began deceiving the believers early in the Christian churches.
