Well speak for yourself on both issues. You will find no one on this forum (and I have been here years longer than my avatar info suggests) that has ever said we can sin like a boatload of pagan sailors and disregard the fact that we are to keep ourselves as the temple of the Holy Spirit.

Yet, people with a high regard for their own opinion, without any proof of their claims, come on board and say things such as you are saying in the post I have quoted.

Which forums have you frequented wherein people are told it's ok to sin away with no consequences as long as once upon a time you said Jesus was your Savior.

Put up or...well...close your beak.
Your comments are irrelevant to reality.

Yes.

Difficult for you to explain away all those verses.

Funny, because I've done it with yours.

We should not be posting a belief system that we cannot confirm to be true.
We should be careful with what we speak about the NT.

As far as I'm concered,,,there has been no back and forth.

There has been YOU posting scripture that you do not quite understand....
and me explaining it to you.

And then you post scripture back that you do not understand...
etc
etc

That is not a back and forth.

See you around.

Ok, you've coaxed another response...

Quote: "Difficult for you to explain away all those verses"

-Why would I do that? It's scripture. You don't explain it away, you accept what's true and it's the word of God.

Quote: "Funny, because I've done it with yours"

-There's your problem. You've just said what you do to scripture.

Quote: "As far as I'm concered,,,there has been no back and forth.

- Sounds like a back and forth.
You're a contrarian. You hear something and just oppose it.

Really, be blessed and not so condemning of others, God will call whom He pleases and we thank Him for it.

Same in the Prot churches Dan.

Have you not had any of THOSE experiences?
To some extent, yes.
Whateva.
You know very well I'm tired of this.

It says those who believe will be saved.
Exactly.
ONLY THE SAVED NEED OBEY.
Only the saved have obeyed by choosing to believe in/on the Son and only the saved obey Him after they have been saved by believing.
It says those that do obey will see the wrath of God.
Those who refuse to believe in the Son have not obeyed the Son and will see the wrath of God. (John 3:36)
in Catholicism.
In Protestantism.

Belief is necessary for salvation...
ONLY obedience is not salvific.

John 3:36 is speaking about believers.

We know what it means ....
please read just above and think.
The act of obedience that saves is choosing to believe in the Son. (John 3:36) In Romans 10:16, we further see - But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our report?”

We obey the gospel by choosing to believe the gospel. Not to be confused with multiple acts of obedience (works) which "follow."

I certainly did not come to God trusting in myself that I am righteous, boasting in my works, but in humility, beating my chest saying, "God be merciful to me a sinner!" and I received Jesus Christ through faith. (Romans 4:5-6; Philippians 3:9) ✝️
You just have the smugness of the Pharisees

I have no problem with the teaching that we are not supposed to live sinful lives. That certainly is what we are to strive for as Christians. (1 John 3:9-10) Unfortunately, I knew many Catholics who did not practice what they preached. Live like a party animal all week, then run to confession on Sunday.
But supposed "bible believing"Christians have solved that problem by thinking they don't sin or if they do they're already forgiven. It's a great work around

Pot calling the kettle black.

Galatians 6:14 - But God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.

Maybe but I don't walk around smugly believing im saved simply because I said a magic incantation

God WILL call who he pleases and that may not include those who think they are called. Would you agree?

That's quite an accusation. What's your evidence for it?
My experience is that only faith-alone Christians seek to silence all disagreement with their anti-works justification. I believe it's because their immortal souls can only trust in their personal faith-alone doctrine. Therefore, ff their doctrine is proven unscriptural, then their souls are left alone without God, just like any other sinner and trespasser of the world.

However, Christians that trust entirely in Jesus Christ to walk as He walked, can also trust we will not be left alone in His judgment of works.

Jhn 8:29
And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him.

We see here as with justification by good works, that trusting in God not to leave us alone, is also by doing works that please Him always.

Therefore, no one trusting in their faith-alone apart from their own works, can possibly have the same confidence toward the Father, as Jesus Christ. Especially if they declare that it's impossible for them to walk as He walked.

I've never heard any faith-alone Christian confessing, that they do only good as Jesus, and not any evil with the world. But they only have their faith-alone to justify them, while committing the same sinful deed of the world.

LOL! Public forum. You made public comments with no proof of what you say. I understand. People who make the claims you are making never ever have the proof to back it up.

I’ve never heard any Christian claim they only do good like Jesus and never sin. If someone said that, they’d be lying at that very moment. Oh wait, you claim that.

Many other similar posts like the one I grabbed.

He said “I sure have posted enough verses in these past years”

Well. If you’ve only been here 6 months, how can you have posted verses for years?

Also, he is very evasive in just answering the question.

Saying something like, “I don’t remember “ instead of a yes or no

I take issue with your remark. I don't know anyone who has said it's not necessary to obey God. What is stated and is scriptural is that Christians are no longer under the Law of Moses. Tell me one person on this forum who has said that obedience to God is not necessary? The Law is not God. Some of the legalists on this forum idolise the law. They are in for a shock when they stand before Lord Jesus.
Gideon....
Can't remember if I've replied to the above.
Sorry if I'm repeating.

You could take issue with my remark.
You're taking it personally, maybe, not sure.

I invited @mailmandan to a party just a few days ago.
The party was a member, on this very forum, who stated that obedience to God is not necessary.

Also, I've had to occassion to read MANY posts and I can assure you that this is a belief that many have.
They believe in FAITH ALONE.....as defined by the idea that a person needs ONLY faith, and nothing else,
and he will be saved.

§Baptism is a work.
Obedience is a work.

They believe anything they do is a work.
A member on another forum, just this week, stated that CONFESSING Jesus, as in Romans, is a work because we're engaging in AN ACTION and so it's a work.

I want to end with this and I've said it many times...
maybe you missed it:

THE LAW IS DEAD.
It was abolished 2 thousand years ago.

If someone wants to follow The Law,,,that is their prerogative and they're allowed to.

I don't follow the Law and most Christians do not.
I'm addressing those Christiians on these threads.
