Edith, if marriage and finding a husband is important to you, keep asking and seeking. Don't give up.
You may need to 'chase' after someone you've found and don't want to let go. Some advice - he must be worth it. Don't settle for less. Make sure he's single too (lol) and not already married/betrothed.

Seoul also brought up the why everyone is staying single in 2026. Many people simply cannot afford to be married or even dating, it can be expensive to expend that much emotional energy exclusively on someone else.

Finding a place to live together, having children..gifts, dates, taking time to have holidays, romantic gestures...all the things couples do together, can add up.

You are investing your life in someone else. You may be happy to spend a small (or large) fortune on this one person. You are one blessed lady if that happens to you.

I think the way that Ruth went about obtaining Boaz (or winning his heart, and a marriage proposal) was influenced by her Mother-in-law Naomi.
They too were desperate - Naomi for a grandchild, and Ruth for a roof over her head and food!

Imagine a famine killing all your men. Women had to do what they had to do to survive. If Ruth never initiated, Boaz would have got cold feet. But notice Boaz deliberatly kept Ruth away from the other young unmarried men so that he could have her for herself (or she wouldn't get distracted from her work)
I think this is a good example for to know that married people are not perfect, Ruth was not when she got married to Boaz. she was a heart broken woman.
thank You for this example it is opening my eyes to see that it is not about being perfect, so far as you share same faith Marriage can work if you all put efforts

Its definitely ok to be Christian and single, and also have friends and not be lonely just because you are unmarried. Friendship and fellowship amongst Christians is more important than relationship - Lord knows how hard marriage can be.

I think a lot of people idealise marital relationships. If having children is important to you, by all means, find a husband or wife that would make a good dad or mum. You will need to suffer the little children though and childbirth and raising children is not a piece of cake. Didn't Paul say it was good to be unmarried.
Lano dear it is not about being ideal, it's about making the earth a safe place again. Marriage reduces the vices of the society. God's Ideal society is made up of families. But our society has just too much to make us want to be alone. The more we are, the more we harbour wrong thought and plans.

I think the problem of people not forming real life in person relationships that lead to marriage is multifaceted, but here are several of the facets that have sent those rates plummeting:

  • The loss of third spaces, those public places that aren't work or home where you could actually meet people (and then the turning of more of those like coffee houses into extensions of work).
  • The rise of online life. While I appreciate certain facets of it, it feeds into having a much wider field of potential partners to choose from which delays the choosing. Also online life tends to set up false expectations as we compare our lives with everyone else's highlight reel and think our life should be all highlights.
  • Anti-male bias - as another person pointed out we've gone off the deep end in trying to protect people (especially women) from sexual predators to the point where unwelcome flirting can get you a stern talking to about inappropriate behavior or harassment especially if you're a man (sadly there isn't equality here so if a woman makes unwelcome advances to a man well usually people won't believe him that it was really unwelcome). Also, maybe not without good reason, my observation is that women are trained to view men they don't know as potential threats.
  • A consumeristic approach - far too many people are looking for human accessories rather than actual partners to their lives who get to give them input and pushback and tell them when they're being a moron.
What do we do about it? I don't have much clue. My solution was get a dog and start gardening and get involved at church. That's working on the making life tolerable front; not so much on the getting a date front.

I am keeping this advice and hoping that I would find. If I do y'all are invited to the wedding. I hope to receive red envelopes from y'all😁.

But that's not my main issue, I keep trying to make us see that as Christians we need to take in the agenda of God to settle His Kingdom on earth. I know its difficult but we have got to try.

Hiding from interactions and community because many have become stalkers and that people will gossip is making the society weirder. But if we all go back to engaging life away from computers and loneliness some bad behaviors will be dealt with in the community. Aman who beat his wife used to be beaten by the men in the community and vice versa

A brother at church kept mocking me in or choir group. I walked up to him and asked him about it; and the first thing he said is "I can never marry a woman like you". why? I asked and he brought up insults, if you were my wife I would beat you, and all. He never told me what I did wrong, his wife also gossiped about me to a friend. I discovered this issue must have root and I saw the roots. he was assigned to buy a printer for the Church and he bought a bad one and we kept fixing and changing the same part. I rebuked this man and the church brother took it personally because he bought it and started rumors unfounded rumors on me, to the point of being aggressive.

it's not only that I was accused of having an affair with my bestie because he was married by my pastor's wife.
another one said I joined the church for money.
In all these I may be tempted to leave but I won't. I stay and I serve the same people.
I can't leave my church because of these.

Please people are always going to look for ways to hurt you even if you did nothing wrong to them. If you flee to Isolation the devil wins. if it get worse just change communities while you pray but never to Isolation

Name one ethical or moral reason that requires me to find a woman.

If that sounds like a bit of attitude, maybe it IS a bit of attitude. That will happen after decades of nagging fromm multiple sides. People talk like I have some moral obligation to meet and marry a lady. Nobody has ever proven it though.

(Nothing on you personally Edith. Just a history of matchmakers here and there. Carry on.)

Doesn’t God still do matchmaking?

I think He will if you ask Him, like the servant who went looking for a potential wife for Isaac. And because he prayed, Rebecca came along and showed herself to be the right one for Isaac.

Some thing I have heard of lately on CC and witnessed around me and in my faith community are men saying. they are not searching. I have a young colleague at 28 saying he is not searching and his complain is it is tiring to search.
It breaks my heart sincerely, He is young and worldly women have become predators to men of God.
in 10 or 20 men who may ask me out on a date, none is a believer.
My questions are

- what seems to be the problem? because its alarming at this rate half of the church will be single by 2050,

- should women start chasing men, is that allowed?

- will you enjoy being chase by a woman if you are a man?

I am beginning to think singles need to be put in marriage through speed dating, blind dates arrange marriages and many more.

I sincerely believe the problem and vices of the Society today are a result of the high rate of loneliness, lack of love leading to addictions and the likes. An experiment has shown that the more we are with people the less we think and keep destructive habits.
So no matter how single hood is comfortable I keep promoting and encouraging Christlike relationships for others and myself because it sincerely reduces the deviation of the Society.

My opinion please so come at me with brotherly love ahbeg
I think the problem is that there is a lack of love in the world. Most young women are only interested in men who are above average looking and are above average wage earners. While most young men are just hoping to find a woman who's interested in them. But I don't really know anything. I'm just like to babble sometimes.

That's what I would prefer.

But if he doesn't, I'm happy with life as I find it.

But if he does, I'll probably be happy with that too.

I just don't see any reason for me to try to make anything happen. I also don't see any reason for other people to try to push me into trying to make it happen. Go 'way. Lemme 'lone.

You don’t have any obligation at all. The only obligation we have is love everyone and keep gods commandants , live in his word.

Yeah, the problem is really about loneliness. If that is worked out of you with God's help, then looking for a spouse becomes God's decision.

As you recall, what was Isaac doing while the servant went to look for a suitable wife for him? Just going about his business meditating (on the Lord). Then the servant came back with Rebekah.....

-=<❤️>=-

Genesis 24:62 Now Isaac had come from Beer Lahai Roi, for he was living in the Negev. 63 He went out to the field one evening to meditate, and as he looked up, he saw camels approaching. 64 Rebekah also looked up and saw Isaac. She got down from her camel 65 and asked the servant, “Who is that man in the field coming to meet us?”

“He is my master,” the servant answered. So she took her veil and covered herself.

66 Then the servant told Isaac all he had done. 67 Isaac brought her into the tent of his mother Sarah, and he married Rebekah. So she became his wife, and he loved her; and Isaac was comforted after his mother’s death.

-=<❤️>=-
So God knows how to pick a good spouse! I would trust His choice over anybody else's.

Give your loneliness to God first though. That way, you'll be happy whether you're single or married. It really makes life enjoyable! And you're decision to marry or not will be more level-headed.

With the proper mindset, if you want to get married, let Him prepare you both and trust His leading like the servant did to the right one for you.

This may sound a bit naive. I know god gives us signs and things. But sometimes we as humans don’t read them how they should be read. Our ego or pride or desire get in the way and twist them. How do you know god is directing you too the right person? Since he dos give us choice to marry whoever. How do we know?. My woman picker has been broken for years I think so I honestly don’t trust my decisions at all now. What’s your take reading gods signs.

That brother isn’t a brother by the way he talks. He’s so brave to threaten a woman but I bet he wouldn’t dare threaten a man twice his size to his face. What a low person.

You have to build your relationship with God so that you recognize His voice to be able to follow His instructions (like the servant did) and learn to trust Him with His timing and choices for you (like the servant, Rebekah, and Isaac did).

Don't rush anything, but trust God will answer you and pick the best one for you. When someone comes along, test to see if she is God's choice, like the servant did with Rebekah....

-=<❤️>=-

Genesis 24:12 Then he prayed,Lord, God of my master Abraham, make me successful today, and show kindness to my master Abraham. 13 See, I am standing beside this spring, and the daughters of the townspeople are coming out to draw water. 14 May it be that when I say to a young woman, ‘Please let down your jar that I may have a drink,’ and she says, ‘Drink, and I’ll water your camels too’—let her be the one you have chosen for your servant Isaac. By this I will know that you have shown kindness to my master.”

15
Before he had finished praying, Rebekah came out with her jar on her shoulder. She was the daughter of Bethuel son of Milkah, who was the wife of Abraham’s brother Nahor. 16 The woman was very beautiful, a virgin; no man had ever slept with her. She went down to the spring, filled her jar and came up again.

17 The servant hurried to meet her and said, “Please give me a little water from your jar.”

18 “Drink, my lord,” she said, and quickly lowered the jar to her hands and gave him a drink.

19 After she had given him a drink, she said, “I’ll draw water for your camels too, until they have had enough to drink.” 20 So she quickly emptied her jar into the trough, ran back to the well to draw more water, and drew enough for all his camels. 21 Without saying a word, the man watched her closely to learn whether or not the Lord had made his journey successful.

22
When the camels had finished drinking, the man took out a gold nose ring weighing a beka and two gold bracelets weighing ten shekels. 23 Then he asked, “Whose daughter are you? Please tell me, is there room in your father’s house for us to spend the night?”

24 She answered him, “I am the daughter of Bethuel, the son that Milkah bore to Nahor.” 25 And she added, “We have plenty of straw and fodder, as well as room for you to spend the night.”

26 Then the man bowed down and worshiped the Lord, 27 saying, “Praise be to the Lord, the God of my master Abraham, who has not abandoned his kindness and faithfulness to my master. As for me, the Lord has led me on the journey to the house of my master’s relatives.”

-=<❤️>=-

As you can see, the servant asked God to reveal to him the right woman for Isaac by her kind and helpful spirit. Yes, she was beautiful, but he was watching her for her good character.

Also notice God was very eager to answer the servant's prayer: Rebekah came along even before he finished his prayer and did exactly as the servant asked God. I'm not saying to pray the same thing, but ask God for someone who is genuine in godliness - and watch them go about with their daily conduct to see if it's genuine or just an act.

Also take your time determiining if a woman was sent by God or not. You can double check with God to make sure. If there IS a check in your spirit, hold off and ask God about it. This why you need to give God your loneliness so that you don’t run ahead of God.

There's also satan who might try to send you the wrong one. That's why you shouldn't rush this whole process. Be careful because he can make the wrong one appear VERY attractive and romantic.

I will pray for your success! Let us know how your journey goes!

I dont' have a personal servant to help me find a spouse. Or a camel..

While that's an interesting take that marriage and family are the bedrock of civilisation, a lot of the time it isn't, like nuclear families are not sustainable, and there are many societies/civilisations that did not operate this way and still functioned. Like in China, which has billions of people, they had things like concubines and the women had bound feet.

Israel had polygamy. Rome in the day had masters and slaves, and male prostitutes. India, who's culture are big on weddings - they can go on for days...had arranged marriages and when the husband dies, the wife has to die with him. It's called Suttee.

France had a whole demi-monde. Look it up. Quebec, which encouraged catholic families to reproduce to outnumber the anglo protestants, had this thing where birth control was not allowed. Ireland too. The poor wives were exhuasted, and the men often went astray, or got drunk.

The British royal family, who are meant to be like this ideal family the Brits look up to, who supposedly own an entire Empire..are falling apart. 3 out of 4 of Queen Elizabeth 2's children divorced. So much unhappiness in that family. A lot of people hate on Meghan for marrying Prince Harry, and Prince William and Catherine's marriage is a bit rocky too...she has to keep up appearances all the while having cancer.

And this family are meant to be the head of the Church of England, the King is meant to be the defender of the faith! He was unfaithful to his first wife, and his second, who is now Queen, was unfaithful to her first husband.

British people pay taxes to keep this family afloat.

Personally, I think Harry and Meghan are so cute together! I don't understand the excessive hate for them.
