That's not exactly what went on, and there was about 50-100K people studying the prophecy of Daniel. EGW was a Methodist at the time and there were people from many denominations studying and in hopes for Jesus return. God knows what was in their hearts, you do not. God will judge us all there is nothing any of us can hide from them Ecc12:13-14 personally I would be more concerned on my own salvation than someone you don't know, never met from a 150 years ago, just from stuff people made up on the internet with half truths. But if it makes you feel better to judge someone else you don't know, be my guest. How we judge others is how we will be judged.
If you think that is a doozy, you should of seen the one where people thought they were gonna be raptured last September. lol It was 2025 last year with grown up adults who believed they were gonna raptured, your harping on a teenager in the 19th century.
It could be a cover up sure, but it could be coincidence also. This will be literally impossible to prove either way. And once again, I have never heard this being taught at SDA church. You could start posting links for those who are not exactly versed in every topic under the sun about the SDA church. Do you know the mindset in the 1800's, how she was seeing things, the context?
It's almost like 200 years ago and many people were completely disappointed on no second coming. Which was brought about by a Baptist preacher. No hate for the Baptist preacher though right, he gets a pass?!?! lol
Just for some basic understanding, SDA normally has Bible Study on books in the Bible, you might want to check them out, maybe you can find some flaws in there, or learn something. Maybe we can find a SDA preacher and different preacher who have a debate on a topic, to see knowledge level.

The good things about the 1844 great disappointment it lead to something amazing understanding the 2300 day prophecy in Daniel which matches up perfectly with the Bible and history, I mean to a tee.
Rev 10: 8 Then the voice which I heard from heaven spoke to me again and said, “Go, take the little book which is open in the hand of the angel who stands on the sea and on the earth.”
9So I went to the angel and said to him, “Give me the little book.”
And he said to me, “Take and eat it; and it will make your stomach bitter, but it will be as sweet as honey in your mouth.”
10Then I took the little book out of the angel’s hand and ate it, and it was as sweet as honey in my mouth. But when I had eaten it, my stomach became bitter. 11 he said to me, “You must prophesy again about many peoples, nations, tongues, and kings.”
If you want to under prophecy I highly recommend this series, its long but worth it! Just 30 minutes each day, have you Bible near they will go through each verse in Revelation and Daniel.
What's great about the SDA church is they give these teachings out for free and don't constantly "remind people" to give a donation. It's literally a ministry and don't expect anything in return.
Yeah, maybe I should, but I got a laundry list of videos to look at now. lol I liked that teaching, how they linked the deadly wound was healed, referring to the Vatican. I seen many Doug Bachelor's videos on end times. Good stuff.

I want you to see that it is not in the providence of God that any finite man shall, by any device or reckoning that he may make of figures or of symbols or of types, know with any definiteness in regard to the very period of the Lord’s coming. What shall we know? We are to study the signs, which show that He is at the door.. Letters and Manuscripts — Volume 7 (1891-1892) pg. 1
".....but the day and hour of His appearing are beyond the ken of man; for “of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but My Father only.” Fundamentals of Christian Education pg. 335.
This next quote is a long one but it describes the situation well..
Life Sketches of James White and Ellen G. White (1880 ed.) pg. 221
“The above, relative to time-setting, was printed nearly thirty years ago, and the books have been circulated everywhere. Yet some ministers claiming to be well acquainted with me, make the statements that I have set time after time for the Lord to come and those times have passed, therefore my visions are false. These false statements no doubt are received by many as truth. Those who know me and are acquainted with my labors will make no such report in candor. This is the testimony I have borne ever since the passing of the time in 1844: ‘Time after time will be set by different ones which will pass by; and the influence of this time-setting will be to destroy the faith of God's people.’ If I had seen in vision, and borne my testimony to definite time, I could not have written and published, in the face of this testimony, that all times that should be set would pass, for the time of trouble must come before the coming of Christ. Certainly for the last thirty years, that is, since the publication of this statement, I would not be inclined to set time for Christ to come, and thus place myself under the same condemnation with those whom I was reproving. I had no vision until 1845 which was after the passing of the time of general expectation in 1844. I was then shown that many would be deceived, and would set different times for the Lord to come, and urge them upon their brethren. But the Lord showed me that these times would pass; for the time of trouble must come before the coming of Christ; and that every time thus set and passed, would only weaken the faith of God's people. Has not this testimony which has been before the public nearly thirty years in published form been fulfilled in every particular? The First-day Adventists have set time after time, and notwithstanding the repeated failures, they have gathered courage to set new times. God has not led them in this. Many of them have denounced the prophetic time, and the fulfillment of marked events in prophecy, because the time passed in 1844, and did not bring the expected event. They rejected the true prophetic time, and the enemy has had power to bring strong delusions upon them that they should believe a lie. I have borne the testimony since the passing of the time in 1844, that there should be no definite time set by which to test God's people. The great test on time was in 1843 and 1844; and all who have set time since these great periods marked in prophecy were deceiving and being deceived.
She was against time setting
So she was careful not to set dates for the second coming.
It goes through the 2300 days and bible prophecy in a way that is easy to understand but super powerful. Some things really blew my mind and you can see how rich and layered Revelation/Daniel are. It really tells us everything we need to know to prepare us for the last days. I started watching it because I really love Rafferty, I had no idea who Ivor Meyers was, and at first I was like let Pastor Rafferty speak, but by the end, I was a huge fan of Meyers. He has an interesting story- is from Jamaica- was a signed rap artist never heard of Adventists but someone in their group was, and they started reading Revelation and it changed his life, he ended up leaving his signed contact to be a rap artist to be an Adventist preacher.
What did that have to do with my post? You’re defending her against date-setting but I never said she set a date. I said she gave a failed prophecy.
In 1856, she claimed an angel told her that people in that room would be alive when Jesus returned. It doesn't matter that she didn't give a day or hour, she gave a lifespan. Every person in that room is now dead. According to Deuteronomy 18:22, if a prophet says something in the name of the Lord and it doesn't happen, that person is a false prophet. If I tell you "you will live to see the next Super Bowl," I haven't set a date, but if you die before then, I’m still a liar.
Why is it so hard to admit that her 1856 vision was 100% wrong? Those people are "food for worms" now, and Jesus hasn't come. Did the angel lie to her, or did she make it up?

Now that we have been labeled "Judaizers", are you thinking of going to Orthodox Synagogue, or Reform Synagogue? Maybe Conservative? I want to make sure, we go to the right Synagogue now. lol
I mean should we start calling anti-SDA Christians, Catholic Sympathizers? What about Reformed Catholics? What about the sticks and stones may break my bones nursery rhyme? I mean being labeled is just the first step of being marginalized, or are we going the high road route, and just take the name calling like champs?
Anyways, I would like to point out the attitudes, that people are showing the SDA church, they are not witches. No need for Salem witch trials. Maybe this is "righteous anger" and we should be honored, that such people have done their best to set us straight? lol
I honestly wanted to finish that Doug Bachelor Investigative Judgement series, to see what the big deal is all about. I think people are making a mountain out of a mole hill, but I don't know to much about this topic to be honest.
There are historical facts that you cannot deny.
Ellen White accepted that date because she was a follower of William Miller.
That date became the 'Great Disappointment' alas, Jesus did not return.
Make no mistake that Ellen White accepted fully the prophecy of William Miller.
William Miller was a false prophet and Ellen White was in a real predicament.
William Miller confessed that he was a false prophet, that his prophecy failed.
Ellen White then devised her own solution to clear herself of being deluded by a false prophet.
This is what happened in 1844; the Great Disappointment.
There is no exit door and Ellen followed William Miller's prediction on the return of Jesus Christ.
William Miller admitted he was wrong and was a false prophet.
End of story.
The Catholic Church was the first to bind Gentiles to the ten commandments.
If you follow the Catholic Church then you are under the law also.
The Investigative Judgement belongs exclusively to the SDA.
The Investigative Judgement is based on one verse in the book of Daniel, just one verse.
If you think that you can time the arrival of the second coming, the greatest event humanity
will ever see. On the basis of one verse in the book of Daniel then, what was Ellen thinking?
What were the other folk thinking?

But Ellen was a follower of William Miller who set the return date for the return of Jesus in 1844.
Ellen can say, after the fact, that Jesus did not return in 1844.
But not before October, 1844.
"The great test on time was in 1843 and 1844; and all who have set time since these great periods
marked in prophecy were deceiving and being deceived."
Correct Ellen, you were one of those people who were deceived.
That is where your doctrine of the Investigative Judgement arose from, the Great Disappointment.
Was Ellen White (Harmon) evicted from the Methodist Church for membership in the William Miller movement?
The Process: The Methodist minister visited the Harmon family and informed them that their new faith
was incompatible with Methodism. He asked them to voluntarily withdraw to avoid a formal disciplinary trial,
but the family initially refused, resulting in them being disfellowshipped.
The Timing: This occurred around 1843, shortly before the 1844 "Great Disappointment".
Is it Historically Proven?
Yes. Ellen White’s account of being "cast out" for her faith is well-documented in her own writings, including
her book Life Sketches, and supported by church records of the time (as mentioned in the Ellen G. White:
The Early Years: 1827-1862 biography, Vol. 1). The Methodist leadership in that area was actively opposing
the Millerite movement at that time.
Ellen was deceived by the false prophet William Miller.
I apologize Inquisitor, I don't think your being intellectually honest. Also, I just think this discussion is absurdly counter productive. To essentially go over these same talking points, over, and over, and over again. It proves nothing, but peoples discontent in the SDA church.
I ask questions, they are ignored, I post something, you have more questions about this new post. It's intellectually dishonest. I wish you the best in your crusade against the SDA church, let me know in ten years how things turn out. lol
I have a feeling the SDA church will continue on blessing people, and these half baked counter points will be repeated, that honestly nobody really thinks about most of the time. It's like a meaningless debate. If it means a lot to you, keep fighting for truth. I honestly don't see any benefits continuing on, or entertaining a discussion with you to be perfectly honest.
I will leave this bit to you, Catholic Church changed the Sabbath, holidays that Christians celebrate, and Christians are defending these changes. I hope that sinks in. You can twist it all you want, but facts are facts.. Once again, enjoy your crusade, this conversation is pointless. That's my conclusion.

If it wasn’t written so clearly in the Bible what people would do to the remnant church who keep the commandants of God and faith and testimony of Jesus which is the SOP, it would be concerning. I would be more concerned if people weren’t accusing us from all directions.
Thanks for posting the sanctuary videos by Doug- I can always tell by the carpet when the video was taken! I used to go to that church that was back in the 1990’s with that carpet. His congregation has really grown back then there were about 400-500 people now his new church holds over 2000 but it doesn't feel like one of those mega churches. I’ll probably listen to one of the videos you posted tonight, it brings back good memories.

That's awesome. I watched all the videos and they honestly didn't hit home. I'm struggling to find out what the importance of this topic is to be honest. I guess we can believe Jesus is in Heaven doing Heavenly things, what those things are, are obviously important. My brain isn't grasping this doctrine for some reason. I get pieces of it, but maybe the Lord is keeping this away from my understanding. I don't know. lol Sorry, don't know what's going on this topic. lol
Actually just finished that Sabbath debate, and the guy debating Doug, actually said, it's o.k. that Jesus sins, because HE is Lord of the Sabbath. I was like ummmm. Jaw drop moment. Totally clueless! Look at the demeanors and look at what is being said.
SDA adventist Christians are like goody two shoes stereo type. They don't swear, they don't drink, don't smoke, and etc. lol Basically harmless people who are just trying to be a good witness. AND SDA generally get nothing, but grief for being role models in the faith. lol It's almost laughable.
I might have to peak at those Ellen White books, just a few chapters like you guys were talking about, so I can at least make my own mind up. I don't think I could ever be a true SDA, but I will most likely always be influenced by their ministry.
All the deciples of Jesus thought that Jesus would set up His kingdom but they were disappointed.
The event was misunderstood
In 1844 the event was misunderstood.
They thought The sanctuary was the Earth.
But latter realized that the sanctuary is in Heaven.
It was a disappointment but they came to understand alot because of the Bible study they did.
Heb 8:1-2
1 Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens; 2 A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man.
All of the history about 1844 and the disappointment was before the 7th Day Adventist church was formed.
It was formed by people from that time, from many denominations. But the Adventist church did not exist when the disappointment happened.
Plus....be careful how critical you are.
The 1843/1844 disappointment was prophesied by God.
