There is a whole forum dedicated to prayer requests. Make one there?

I'm surprised that the prayer thread was placed here and not in the Prayer forum. I mean, that's where it would logically go right?

Thread title -Prayers for people you dislike
or vice versa - Prayers for people who dislike you.

I am thinking I need to start a multi vitamin and make sure it has magnesium, or at least start taking magnesium by itself. I periodically get bad toe cramps, like a charlie horse but worse in my toes! Then if I'm real lucky  it shoots up into my legs, and the more I try to move and shake it off the worse it seems to get.
Definitely start taking a multi. You cant get enough vitamins from food unless you eat several servings of vegetables a day and they have to be a variety. Most people are deficient in magnesium because it comes from dark leafy greens. Cramps can be either from an electrolyte imbalance like magnesium deficiency, or overworked muscles, or it could be caused by certain conditions like high blood sugar, and also certain medications. Magnesium is a natural muscle relaxant. Magnesium Citrate is less likely to have a laxative side effect. I don't know how effective epsom salt baths are.

People will always disagree on where to place certain threads.

As the author of a thread, you have to take a lot of things into consideration when choosing which forum to post in. For example, Zero brought up that several of my threads being in Family now, and that's because we had a lot of married friends who wanted to answer, but didn't want to have to go to the Singles Forum.

I put the Praying for People You Don't Like thread in Singles because when we singles have disagreements with someone, it's generally just us and God.

Marrieds theoretically have someone else in their corner to at least back them up. So, I was interested the whole discussion around single people who feel alone in their distress, and how they communicate with God about it.

I also see the Prayer Forum as being a place for prayer requests and not discussions about prayer. I felt that dropping a big discussion about prayer itself might interrupt the flow of that section, seeing as people go there to make or reply to prayer requests.

But that's just my own opinion. I always have specific reasons why I put things in certain forums. For instance, some have said I should post in Miscellaneous and not Family, but I've noticed that Miscellaneous gets used for a lot of political discussions and world events, and I don't want to interrupt that vibe, either.

One of the few luxuries a thread writer has is deciding where to put their musings, and it might often be for reasons the readers don't understand.

Not everyone will agree with the choices that are made, but for me, my only concern is if the moderators want to see certain threads in certain areas -- then, of course, I would oblige, especially if/when the mods moved my threads themselves or sent me a notice.

Quest makes an excellent array of vitamins and nutritional supplements. They are made here but are widely available. :)

Ok just wondering.

MM not so sure about married people having someone in their corner backing them up but ok. Mostly when anyone, single or not, is in distress, they cry...whether to God or someone else. God sees peoples tears, and puts them in a bottle.

He already knows.
Disagreements will come, married people don't always agree on every single thing. Nobody likes every single thing/person. Not sure you can ever bring yourself to like something you don't, sometimes you have to pretend to keep the peace, OR give that person grace. (Eg Many children don't like eating something, but their parents make them for their own good, and for better or worse, you have no choice about living with your siblings)

I suppose Christians have a better understanding of God's grace (and access to it) than those who don't believe.

I've never seen the moderators I suppose they work behind the scenes but so far, I've not had many problems with threads, sometimes I think huh I should have posted in another forum, but after I've posted it I can't move it, but I would report it and maybe the mods can. They've never done this though and it's easier just to repost the same thread in the other forum. And some people ignore forums and will just answer the latest postings.

I would also guess that many don't really want to be responsible for answering thread if they start one, which is why people don't start threads. Maybe it's also shyness or not wanting to risk being flamed, I don't know. But I've never really been afraid to ask the hard (or maybe awkward) questions.

the only requisite for the Singles forum is

Christian and single? Seek (or give) advice and encouragement here.

I suppose prayers for people you dislike is under advice? Or encouragement. Not sure. Because if you put the 'I want to pray for people I dislike' and name them in the prayers request forum, it would violate the rules?

If I look through the prayers requests, generally they are of a nature of praying for certain situations people need God's help in, because it is out of their control.
Dealing with someone you dislike, is perhaps in your control, though you cannot make someone like you.

Jesus advice? We are to shake the dust off our feet, and move on.

I forgot to mention that cramps can also be caused by prolonged sitting or standing, poor circulation, and/or dehydration. Stretching the calves a few times throughout the day and staying hydrated is supposed to be a good way to prevent them.

Walking a few minutes a day helps too, but you have to make sure you're not shuffling your feet. It's the range of motion that's good for the muscles and prevents cramps. You can even just sit, raise your feet/foot off the ground and flex it up and down a few times.

I have residual peripheral neuropathy from chemo, and sometimes, especially of late, there is a different kind
of leg pain, not so much a cramp but similar, though much more feeling like an extreme burning sensation about
two to three inches above my ankle... it has only happened twice, but oh my goodness! Tylenol totally fixed that,
though, with no lingering effects like after a charlie horse. I am trying to be more mindful about my supplements...
heh, they are sitting here right beside me LOL. It is easier to stick to some routine when we see the results, that
is for certain, and over the years I have spent thousands on supplements mostly not knowing if they are doing
anything positive for me or not... aside from cranberry concentrate. That is one I know for sure does what I want.

Walking a few minutes???
How long are you sitting/standing still for?
Don't say the entire day!

Or are you bedridden?

If you can't walk anywhere, at least get a rocking chair or something to help get you moving. Or those foot pedal sewing machines, so you can sew something while you are sitting, The thing is to pump your feet, so that you can get the circulation going.

I know this as was looking after my mum and the physio recommended exercises she could do when she was in a lot of pain and couldn't walk. She then got up and walked. She had a stick, and didn't need a walker.

Sorry, I sometimes give advice when it wasn't really asked for...
Although this IS an advice giving forum.

I guess advice is better than...opinions.

Butterfly in the sky
I can go twice as high.
Take a look, it's in a book
on Reading Rainbow!
I can be anything!
Friends to know,
and ways to grow
on Reading Rainbow.
I can go anywhere!
Friends to know
and ways to grow,
on Reading Rainbow!

After some in depth conversations I had today regarding learning about the world around us, as well as far away lands, through books, the Reading Rainbow theme song has been stuck in my head. Those lyrics are what I am thinking about now.

I was just a kid when that show came out.

I had a big crush on Mr. LeVar...

As a kid, I was thinking, "He's so handsome... and he would read me books! How much better can you get than that?!" :geek:

Ah, I miss the good old days.

But a lot of other people will probably remember him most from Star Trek.

I was just giving tips. I used to get cramps when I was working hours in the hot sun as a detailer and my legs weren't used to it and I was magnesium deficient but had no idea about magnesium. One day I ended up in the hospital because of the cramping and they gave me an IV of magnesium and saline and it stopped the cramping I was feeling. That was about 10 years ago. Now I take magnesium.

The weakness I have now is from stress. I'm dealing with a difficult situation that drains my energy. The person I'm caring for has mental health issues and I have no one to help me and I've been doing this for years with not a single day off. On top of that, my own mental health is beginning to suffer in terms of forgetfulness and losing track of thought and I am always tired. I don't want to say anymore. I never should have complained about shopping on here. Not all is bleak though, things are slowly getting better.

Oh. been there, done that
Well, in times of stress it's important to remember to look after yourself.

Don't be a martyr. If you need help, ask for it, and be specific. When I was caring for my mum, I felt like I couldn't leave her alone we were that enmeshed. But I managed to ask for help and found a team to support me so I could take a break or respite. I couldn't do anything for myself for 2 years and was also forgetting things. Tired all the time, drained.

I reached a breaking point and just said Jesus take this from me. I know I had a cross to bear but was crushing me. I was irritable and despondent and there seemed to be no end in sight. So, sometimes we have to let go and let someone else be the helper.

Glad that things are going better for you. I found that massages helped get circulation going..and I recommend cupping. When we are weak He is strong. Try to get out at least an hour or so and take time for you. At least with a massage, you are lying down and don't have to think of anything and someone else can look after you, it's worth it, so I'd try to fit one in when I was feeling run down. Or hot bath with epsom salts, or a foot bath with same.
