I like buffet restaurants since I can take some of what looks good to me, and if I enjoy it and still have a little room I can go back and get a little more. That said, a lot of buffet restaurants aren't very good, but when you find a good one, it's a great experience.

I prepare the fancy foods at home and do a pretty good job, so when we do eat out it's fast food or the lower end sit downs like Texas Roadhouse, Outback, etc.

When dining out, if hamburgers are on the menu, that's what I order since it is my favorite food. If I'm at a Chinese restaurant I like to get something with the hot peppers next to it, preferably with beef. If I'm at a Mexican restaurant I like to get shredded beef burritos or tacos de carnitas, but in that case what I prepare at home is better than I've ever gotten in a restaurant.

Where I live I don't believe there are any buffets that are good, though I may not have discovered all of them. In fact, in this town I've been disappointed in the food quality during most of my dining out experiences. That might not be the case if I didn't make such delicious food at home.

It's not all-you-can-eat which is true buffet

Valentines appears like a buffet, but they charge for each drink, and supposedly limit you to two helpings/plates.

Please don't mix Japanese with Chinese, I mean had you not heard about the Rape of Nanking. Chinese are still sore about that. They don't want to be taken over or occupied by the Japs. Then they'd have to speak Japanese, and eat sushi all the time. NOOO

sushi in chinese is pronounced sosi, and Chinese do not regard it as real food. Its not that they snobs, or the Japanese are cleverer at presentation, but even the Japanese resent that Koreans make and appropriate their sushi. I had a Japanese friend who said that the kind of sushi made in restaurants in the west, is not REAL sushi. Then he went to Europe, and complained they didn't have any fish.

The last I heard, he was trying to introduce salmon to Yemen.

The introduction of grape wine to China has been a bit of a disaster, as well as powdered milk. There are no alcohol regulations in China, so children were getting drunk and babies being poisoned.
All of this might be true. But none of it matters to me.

What matters to me is, there's a china buffet place relatively close to me that sells sushi I really like. So I'm happy.

ok whatever.

It doesn't matter to me, cos I am not you.

I have a sushi place up the road, its called St Pierre's and the sushi is ok. It's edible, but I've had better.

Thinking of going to Valentines buffet, tho a bit far from me, it says dine free on your birthday.

My nephew by marriage, Jiheng, originally from Hilongjiang, is a sushi chef in the San Diego area. I don't think he ever concerned himself with the history of China and Japan when he started rolling and serving sushi.

Is the sushi rolled in tiny croissants and paired with a fine Bordeaux?
No its made out of nz salmon with avocado, so it's a mash up of Kiwi Californian-ness. It's paired with Gatorade. Or whatever that blue soft drink is.

Well he lives in San Diego where it probably doesn't matter. San Diegoans will eat anything.
