A recording of one of her songs were played during my first wedding years ago. The kid that ran the recorder screwed up the song that was intended and played - "We can't go on hurting each other'." Bad omen. Marriage was a total farce and disaster. I made a horrible choice and paid the price for years to come. 6 1/2 years of physical, verbal, and emotional abuse and mental anguish.
eek!
Well Karen's own wedding to Tim Burris was a complete disaster. He hoodwinked her, and married for the money. She wanted children but he'd had a vasectomy.
Also, her brother married his cousin.

And Shania Twain had a beautiful love song that's often played at weddings - From This Moment. But her marriage fell apart when her so called best friend had an affair with her husband. I think in the end they swapped spouses?!

Anyway you can still go in with all good intentions and promises, but both parties need to stick with it , can't walk together if you both are not agreed.

Was it the Jennifer Hudson movie. She was on Idol. That was not the real Aretha.

There is footage of the real Aretha in church. Singing gospel, or soul. Soul music is an offshoot of gospel. It's personal singing between you and God. Gospel is congregational singing and its rooted in the Bible.

I suppose because a lot of churches in the US are divided by colour still (in the 21st century?!) you won't get much crossover. Love/Praise songs to God are what Hiillsong specialise in and their brand of music now dominates churches.

I don't mind it in small doses, but there's only so much thank you God for being so wonderful that you can sing without repeating yourself. I don't think God requires our flattery. He'd much rather we just follow our Jesus example and love others the way He loves us.

Yes Jesus is a beautiful name and He is our King/Lord/Saviour etc but don't you think He already knows this. Isaiah says your lips praise Him but your heart is far from Him..thats where the term 'lip service' comes from.
Hymns used to be about instilling Bible truth as well as praise and worship. I still remember some of Charles Wesley's hymns that we sang in the 1970's There is something about words to music that make it much easier to remember.

Today's singing is more about making people feel good. Some of the songs are so bad that they should be taken out and shot. What really bothers me is how little discernment there is between the spiritual and the banal.

There is a lot of emphasis on praise and worship in the OT. We also read that there is continual praise and worship in heaven. But just saying "Praise the Lord" is not praise. A friend of mine put it like this. You catch up with a friend who has just a new baby. Do you say, "Praise the baby! Glory to the baby"? That would be absurd.

Praise and worship should be from the heart as expressions of faith. Real praise and worship is an expression of thankfulness and appreciation. I know someone whose daughter is a user, takes whatever her parents give her without any appreciation. The son is entirely different. He has been helped less because he's managed his life better. He appreciates everything that his parents have done for him. The parents have quit trying to help the daughter. If the son needs help, it's always there. God is similar. Hebrews 11:6

It's all about the bass, no treble.

Can it be all about the treble, no bass?

Thought thanksgiving was not with song, but with the Lords supper/communion.

The singing is done before, as we are singing for our supper.

Hmm if friend had new baby, would bring gifts. If had nothing to give, maybe just sing Happy Birthday instead. Doesn't need to go on forever, just a couple of verses will do.

Went to a Jewish Passover/seder, and we did sing. In Hebrew.

Daiyenu.

Basically, it would have been enough if God had just simply got the Hebrews out of Egypt, but He did so much more.

I’m a regular on our church music team and I see both sides of this. If the music volume is too low, people don’t engage; they effectively treat the music as entertainment because they aren’t singing aloud. Obviously there is an upper threshold for volume as well. In my experience, 90-95 db for a church is about right.

When I’m not on the team, I find the music volume too low. However, I know where the dead spots are in the room.

My advice to those who want lower volume: take a morning to find the loud and quiet spots in the room. Borrow a decibel meter to confirm your findings. Ask the sound person where to sit. Whatever you do, don’t blame the musicians; it’s not their job to accommodate your preferences.

Nah, I'd wear obnoxiously colored full ear protection headsets

My wife and I have not gone to churches that were excessively loud after visiting them in looking for a church to attend.
👋🏼 very clever, you’re right on time

Or ear muffs the cute fluffy bunny ones.

If you bluetooth a service, you can actually listen to it on your own headphones/speakers. Then you can adjust the sound

They should consider it like those 'silent discos' record the service in a recording studio, then send it out. I mean radio sermons and christian broadcasting are basically what it is. Do you even need to be in the same room? Not really, only for communion/Lord's Supper.

Then you are an observer, not a participant. Christianity is not a spectator sport.

I've heard of the term 'tolerance' it was bandied about in the 90s for anyone who was not WASP, as if those in power just put up with anyone not their race and creed/religion. It made out that everyone else was subhuman and seen as pests and nuisances.

Ok if you are actually ARE a sex offender you ought to be locked up in jail, (in olden days you would be stoned) but that's not just homosexuals. It's rapists and anyone who commits acts of indecency.

People who are homosexual or engage in it monogamously and consensual don't see anything wrong or forbidden in that type of lifestyle, and now that it's legal to marry your same sex partner, its recognised as legit - they make the same sorts of vows that heterosexual marriages make, i.e. exclusive love between two people. so that's probably better than the kind of immorality involving many people and non-consensual acts.

And now because of body dysphoria and the amount of hormones in food and estrogen in plastics a lot more 'designer' babies vis IVF it can be confusing the array of ways gender presents itself. For some, its easier to be androgynous and not male or female so you're kind of neutral and dress unisex. Or to be a eunuch, as Jesus said some would never understand why some people choose to stay unmarried and celibate.

Better undersexed than oversexed right?

In animal kingdom, you can be male or female as originally designed, but actually because of imbalance of sexes, some animals actually can change genders, or they can be both - and plants can actually be self pollinating wedding florist adelaide or cloned and animals can be artificially inseminated as anyone who's done breeding or lived on a stud farm can observe.
Thanks in advance of any help.

Huh I remember posting this response but I didn't write 'wedding florst adelaide' in the last sentence?!

Some kind of feedback or interference?

Thats weird. Maybe just ready to take the next step from artificial insemination to the stud farm.

No, I’ve never IVF’d anybody. But it sounds expensive.
It is. It's like $11,000 to $16,000 per cycle. (just googled it) and up to $20,000 when you include all out-of pocket expenses, medications etc.

That's in NZ dollars. Designer babies are here.

That’s the base model for sure. I’m sure the microchip enchanced version features frontal lobe upgrades and Bluetooth connectivity.
