Yes, we are in the pre-tribulation now. However, there will not be a rapture until the end of the seven years. So the rapture will be about 2033. It was about that time two thousand years ago that the Savior ascended.

The interesting thing is that the Savior always has two witnesses. In this case, the two witnesses are thousand-year, periods of time. Thus, two thousand years between when Jesus ascended to when the saints ascend. However, the ascent of the saints of God is Post-Tribulation.

Matt. 25 The Virgin Parable
Matt. 15:6, "And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him."

The question that is answered in the parable pertains to how we are to meet the Savior. First, we are to have our lamps lighted.

Matt. 25:1-5, Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. 2And five of them were wise, and five were foolish. 3They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them: 4But the wise took oil in their vessels (homes) with their lamps. 5While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.

Some of the virgins did not have oil in their homes to refill their lamps. Notice in the parable that the foolish had oil in their lamps, and when the lamps ran out of oil, they could not refill. However, the wise who were burning the lamps just like the foolish were burning their lamps, had oil in their homes. Therefore, the wise could refill their lamps with oil.

Matt. 25:7-10
7Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps. 8And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out. 9But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. 10And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.

As you can see in the above verses, the dividing line between the wise and foolish virgins has to do with oil that could be purchased. The wise had oil in their homes before the Savior's coming, but the foolish had not. Thus, to go to the marriage, the virgins must have oil in their homes for their lamps.

11Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. 12But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not. 13Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

In the end it came down to who had oil in their homes vs. who had to go out to purchase oil. The oil represents food. Thus, those saints who have food in their homes to survive the fall of Babylon are set to go and meet the Savior. Since the tribulation begins with the fall of Babylon, and the saints must have food in their homes during the fall of Babylon, then they are the saints who are prepared to go out to meet the Savior upon his return. No pre-tribulation rapture.

However, the earth itself will have two thousand years of history between the time he left and the time he returns. So there may be warfare taking place when he returns. We do not know exactly. But like he was seen ascending, he will likewise descend. No matter what is going on at the time.

Replace earth with land (which is what that word really means), and it will make more sense that Jeremiah and Isaiah were prophesying about the destruction of the kingdom of Judah and Jerusalem by the Babylonians.

In the above verses, the presence of the Lord removes all cities, kingdoms, and mankind. This is the wrath of God at the end of the seven-year tribulation and judgment. It is not a condition wherein the earth is desolate for a thousand years.

I remember a scripture verse where the population will be "rarer than the gold of Ophir. This is similar to what Verse Six is saying. That the covenant curse devours the earth, and they that dwell therein are desolate because they are spiritually dead. Therefore, the inhabitants of the earth are burned to spiritual death by Lucifer, and few who follow Jesus Christ are left.

So the event to which the above verses pertain is now, at the pre-tribulation. However, these verses do not describe the earth being desolate for a thousand years.
