God is Spirit. man is made in the image of God. Man is a spirit being. You don't need a doctorate in theology to see that.

God the Son is Spirit (Deity) and Soul (humanity) and all things were created by, for and through Him. Col.1:16

We are created in the image and likeness of God the Son.

You and I are not spirits, we are souls. The scripture is clear on this matter.

Genesis 2:7
And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

There could be so much written about this.

Perhaps a concise but incomplete explanation of the soul can be "the seat of life as experienced from the vantage of creation".

Our Lord has a soul that can be "..exceedingly sorrowful even unto death." Yet, we know that He lacked nothing of God: the fullness of the Godhead resided in Him. It would seem, then, that the weight of the cross was unbearable for the body (creation) and so we have an account, in scripture, of the life-blood of His body dripping like sweat on the ground. Only because eternal life is in the Spirit could our Lord say "Nevertheless, not my will (the will of the soul) but Yours (Father's) be done".

"..for the kingdom of God is... righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit."

I have often heard the claim made that "bara" means to create from nothing, but the Hebrew does not necessarily imply that. It can me to create, shape or fashion. It need not carry any implication of creation from nothing.

That's true, but what material do you see God using in Gen.1:27 to create a man and a woman?

That is not true.
At least… not in the literal context of Genesis 1 and 2.

There are specific Hebrew words for build, shape, and fashion...
Genesis 2:7 is a prime example.
Look here!

.

Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me." — Matthew 26:38 (KJV) I'm leaning to the soul is the one that Feels. Like Jesus sayingNow is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour." — John 12:27 (KJV) Soul Feels Pain to point Jesus sweat blood out of his body.
Souls in hell ,they Will feel that for sure.
The by ones will spirit is of God and a man's spirit can take on the mind of a Man or the best Reality is have the Renewed mind of Jesus by the Holy Spirit

You are making cosmological assumptions that are not necessarily accurate. Our human knowledge and language are both limited. We do not know what we do not know and we cannot express that which we do not have words for, and that has always been true, including in the literal context of Genesis 1 and 2.

Oh boy....

You got your act.

And, you can keep it.
It is all yours.

We can not know an anything.
That is one way of trying to back out of a refutation.

I don't have the time or inclination to go into the reasons why your understanding is wrong. If you think that being a living soul is in the image of God who is Spirit, I can't help you.

That's ok, I don't need your help, I have a Helper. Ps.54:4 :)

And I guess you missed that I said we are created in the image of God who is Spirit and Soul and who came in the flesh. Maybe you don't think humans are spirit, soul and body?

Looks like a pretty good image and likeness to me. 😂

Before Genesis 2:7?
Man as a soul had been already created in Genesis 1:26-27

Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule
over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals,
and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”
So God created (bara) mankind in his own image,
in the image of God he created (bara) them;
male and female he created (bara) them.

Bara means to create something out from nothing.
Only God can create in that fashion.
Man's body was not created out from nothing.

Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils
the breath of life, and the man became a living soul. Genesis 2:7

Man being created by God in Genesis 2:7, was not the Hebrew word "bara."
For the body was not God creating something out from nothing.
That was simply God providing a body for the already created soul.
The Hebrew word is "yatsar" - to form and to mold something.

Man is a soul.
That is what God called "man" when He created the soul out from nothing. He called him 'man.' Genesis 1:27.

The body that God provided in Genesis 2:7 was a means for the soul to navigate within the created material world.

English translations can not lend that kind of understanding to us.
A good pastor teacher who knows the needed ancient languages can.
For our sakes God has raised up a few who do.
This one will not ask for money for his teachings...

grace and peace .....

I respect RBT's opinions, but IMO it makes no sense to divorce Gen. 1:26-27 from Gen. 2:7.
Nor does it make sense to view nothing as something other than God's invisible Self/Being.

It is "divorced" because it uses two different Hebrew words.

Your second sentence almost sounds like you are saying all men are begotten of God.

I will try again. Man is a spirit being, who has a soul and who inhabits a body. 1 Thessalonians 5:23

Says Gideon 300.

You shall surely die?
When he ate, did not begin to exist?

How did Adam die?

The Hebrew actually says....
"In dying you shall die."

Two deaths.

One was immediate (spiritual) when he ate.
And, as a result (physical death) afterwards.

.........
*sigh* fallen man has a spirit. It is dead to God. Remember the Prodigal son? His dad said that the prodigal was dead. Obviously not in the sense of no longer existing. Likewise the human spirit when Adam disobeyed.

Differences should be harmonized if Truth is One (Matt. 4:7).

All is of God (Gen. 1:1).

Disagree. Man is a living soul who expresses himself through his body and is given a spirit at regeneration. 1 Thess.5:23

Yes, and in heaven souls will have spiritual bodies or retain self while being One with everyone.

Differences should be harmonized if Truth is One (Matt. 4:7).

All is of God (Gen. 1:1).

It is harmonized. Gen.1:27 speaks of God creating two human beings and Gen 2:7 speaks of Him forming the body for one of those human beings so they would express themselves in this world. (ie.living soul)

All is created by God. I would be careful saying "all is of God". It could be construed as pantheism.

Actually, we can know a lot, but you miss a qualification. I trust that you know what an apple tastes like. Now how would you describe the taste of an apple to someone who has never eaten one in such a way that they will know what an apple tastes like? It is an impossible task as we simply do not have the words necessary to express it. We can use words to give an approximation, but only an approximation, the words fall short.

The literal Hebrew mentions SOUL

7 And the Lord God formed man of dust from the ground, and He breathed into his nostrils the soul of life, and man became a living soul.
