Having a coffee press is way more of a qualifier than having a Keurig.

Any idiot can buy and operate a Keurig; but if you have a coffee press, then you have a proper understanding of emergency preparedness.

I have problems with the acid in coffee irritating my stomach. I'm also highly sensitive to caffeine. If I were honest with myself, I shouldn't have coffee or tea at all (even the decaf versions can still have tannins, which I'm also reactive to.)

I'd read that a French press helps with this, but found that for me, it actually made it worse (even when using the exact same coffee across different makers and methods.) This often happens to me though -- things are supposed to go zig, and my system decides it wants to zag instead.

My actual preferred method now is just my plain little Mr. Coffee 4-cup coffee maker, though I can only have about half a cup per day. For me, it produces at least a little flavor with less acid fallout.

I do like the Keurig for days I'm on the go, like right before church.

And as for being "any idiot" who can run the Keurig, lol, well...

All I can is that being any old idiot seems to have served me well in life so far.

Aren't those coffee pod things really bad for the environment??

I mean I get free coffee grounds to put in my garden, but I don't know about these coffee pod things.

Aren't those coffee pod things really bad for the environment??

Yes, but so is anything disposable.

And activists seem to take turns deciding which current item is fashionable to preach to others about in the name of the environment.

Take for instance, plastic straws -- which I do understand -- but now we have paper straws the disintegrate with one sip, and YouTube videos of people going to the ER because they've inhaled shards of glass through "environmentally-friendly" glass straws.

I always wonder if the people hollering about coffee pods are also all using cloth diapers, reusable female sanitary supplies, and never use plastic or styrofoam anything that needs to be throw away (coffee cups, any kind of wrapper or utensil from fast food, beverage bottles, shampoo, lotion, any kind of cleaner, packaged food items...) etc.

If I ever ran into someone who told me I had to give up my K-cup coffee as I'm running out the door on Sunday morning, I'd want to take a good hard look at their own life and see what they're actually sacrificing to "save the environment."

Do I think we should be good stewards of the planet?

Of course.

But the Bible always says this earth is marked for destruction, so at the end of the day, I don't stress about things like this too hard.

Is nobody willing to say they own a house with a garden? It don't need to be true, but I thought that was the drawcard.
I do have a house, and it does have a large yard. There is no garden in it, but there is plenty of room if that's what you want. Knock yourself out.

I have a house with a garden, so I’m good at mowing the lawn for keeping the snakes away. I can even start the lawnmower myself. I can also use a chainsaw to keep the branches trimmed and can carry the branches out of my property myself. I have an old convertible which is nice at this time of year.

I know my way around the kitchen and keep a tight ship in my home.

I actually have and do all those things too :D Including an old convertible and keeping snakes out. I try to keep everything looking like new but now my body doesn't want to cooperate with me. 😞

Hey Everyone,

I often consult with younger people to keep up on today's modern "vocabulary." Recently, I asked a nephew and his girlfriend what "Pick Me" means, as I've been seeing it thrown around.

A quick Google search says:

"A Pick-Me is slang for someone who desperately seeks attention or approval - usually from a specific group or gender - by acting disingenuously or demeaning their own peers to seem "different" or superior.

* Pick-Me Girl - A woman or girl who belittles other women, rejects traditional feminine interests, or boasts that she is "not like other girls" just to win male validation.

* Pick-Me Guy - A man or boy who relies on performative emotional vulnerability, self-deprecation, or feigned sensitivity to manipulate or win the attention of women.

* Pick-Me Employee - Anyone trying to hard to win earn attention, win favor, or impress a dominant social group."

I was thinking of this in humorous, not serious terms after participating in @legion's awesome "Ok, I'm Now Ready" thread. We finally came to the hilarious conclusion that the secret to being a "Pick Me" (the thing that makes you PRIME dating material) is OBVIOUSLY -- owning a Keurig!!

And so, I was just thinking that it might be pretty funny if we all listed 3 more OBVIOUS reasons why we should all be seen as THE Ultimate Pick-Me Guy, Girl, or even Employee!

* What are 3 OBVIOUS things that make you unique -- and put you at the head of the pack?

* For Singles, what 3 things would OBVIOUSLY make someone interested in dating you? (Things you own? "Special" skills or talents, etc.?)

For example -- is that vintage bottlecap collection just BOUND to impress? Are your grilled cheese-making skills beyond that of any mere mortal?

* For the Marrieds, what 3 things OBVIOUSLY made your spouse fall in love with you and unable to let you go? (Maybe it was the way you silently passed gas in the car and yet somehow convinced them it wasn't you!)

* All other options are also open -- What makes YOU a Pick-Me Employee -- or anything else? (Sports teams, Keeper of the Remote, Grill Master, etc.)

While answers can be serious, the intent is that we all "tell on yourselves" with several funny and ridiculous "skills" or "possessions" we all have -- that we think other people should (laughably) admire us for!

To give you an example, follow this format if you like (but you don't have to -- feel free to answer in your own way!):

"I'm a Pick-Me (fill in the blank... Guy, Girl, Employee, Coach, Volunteer, HOA President, etc!) BECAUSE (then list your 3 reasons!!)

I'll go first!

I'm (OBVIOUSLY) a Pick-Me Girl BECAUSE:

1. My sock-sorting skills are unlike any other!

Never mind that all my socks are either white or black, but hey... Some are longer and some are shorter so NOT ONLY can I arrange socks by color, but I sort them by seasons as well! (Who wants to wear long socks on a hot day?)

So if you want the best-looking sock drawer this side of the Mississippi -- I said I could sort socks; I didn't say I could spell -- PICK ME!!

(When you post, you DON'T have to explain your reasons, but you know me -- I have to over-explain EVERYTHING! :D)

Actually this moves along nicely into Reason #2:

2. I over-explain and over-communicate EVERYTHING!!

I strive for perfection here, so it's simply not good enough for me to just present an idea -- NOOOO! On a good day, you'll be handed a page-long, typed explanation. On a "Gee, I'm Feeling Extra Thoughtful" day, you'll be handed a 20-page (front and back) dissertation of what I'm thinking about, why I'm thinking it, and the llllooooonnnnggg story -- from 1982, or was it 1985, and everything in between-- that made me think of it!

So if you like THOROUGH, and I DO mean THOROUGH communication, PICK ME!!

3. I like to be prepared!

While other preppers stock USEFUL things like food, water, and batteries (bah humbug,) I happen to have an entire clear plastic container's worth of toothpaste, dental floss, and mouthwash.

While an apocalypse is scary, we all know that the WORST apocalypse is one in which everyone has halitosis, and so I am proud to say, I am prepared for most any bad breath emergency!!

So if YOU value dental hygiene (and a collection of products that 4 out of 5 dentists recommend,) PICK ME!!!

I'm pretty sure I'm going to be married before the end of next week! I mean, if ALL THIS doesn't lure in Mr. Right, I'm not sure what will!!

And now, I want to hear from YOU!!!

* What kind of "Pick-Me" ARE YOU, and WHY??!
I don't want to be a pick me girl because I like showing of our Christ, not my self. however one has to move out of single hood,

1, I am a woman full of joy, I am always laughing and joking and don't bug with sadistic questions

2. I think in an African perspective I have a good size, I have enough meat on the bones,
you would be proud to have me as a girlfriend because from my size you will know how your money is spent😁

3. I Like a clean space, may be the Pinterest type, 😌it's cozy, it's nice it's fresh,
pick me you will be joyful and a clean space

I have no Keurig, no coffee maker but I have a Mug and I like drinking coffee does that count?

All this time I thought acting depressed or being depressed surely kept women away. I knew a guy who used to tell women he wanted to date that his girlfriend died and he said they instantly wanted to date him. And his girlfriend didn't die. He just made it up.

This is just my own perspective, but I think seeing a man who is depressed can kick in a woman's nurturing side. Most women are built to try to sympathize and comfort.

I've always liked sensitive, caring men.

But like anything, it can be extreme. Some women might feel that a man that depends on her for emotional support (to an unhealthy degree) might be less likely to cheat or let her go (so it stems from her own insecurities.)

And just as men don't want to be around a chronically depressed woman, a woman wouldn't want to spend too much time with a man who always felt helpless and depressed (this makes it very hard for a man to take the lead.)

Some time back, a man here in Singles wrote a thread saying that he needed a woman to "save" him -- romantically, financially, and intimately.

While I can certainly understand and empathize with that, I think we all hope that people would work on being independently healthy in most areas of life -- not perfect of course, but at least working on it -- before trying to latch on to anyone to "save" them.

If your relationship is based around trying to save someone ... you're doing it wrong. You're not the savior, Jesus is.

But yes it seems common that both men and women get the savior complex. Women usually want to save the emotionally unhealthy guy and believe that her love can restore that poor lost soul to health and proper human function, even if he's using her as a punching bag now.

Men want to ride in like the white knight and save the damsel in distress and usually end up finding out that that poor victimized woman was mostly a victim of her own bad choices and unhealthy habits. And often she'd rather he enable her to continue in her bad behavior than help her learn healthier ways of coping.

At least that's what I've observed.

😄 haha, not me. If the guy is broke, emotional or financial or something, definitely I can't save him, not at single stage. When in marriage, yeah different story.

At single stage, try to be self efficient as much as possible, don't want a needy person. I am not his savior.

Interestingly I don't see that.

Most I see is people are looking for people that is in good standing, so they are not a burden to others, not at single stage.

I was talking about how men and women differ in their savior complexes. Not everyone has a savior complex, some people have the victim complex but I don't understand those people. That's probably why I never was good at playing the damsel in distress.

I actually used to be attracted to guys like that -- feeling like I was "helping" or "making a difference" made me feel like I was actually doing something.

I got totally wrecked, and it's only by the grace of God I didn't go completely broke, both financially and emotionally, while trying to support the relationships I was in.

But what do they say, live and learn.

And I'd like to think "I'll do better -- next time."

That might actually be the perfect arrangement. She gets to talk as much as she wants and you get to enjoy the conversation without having to catch every single detail! A true win-win situation. Just make sure you nod at the right moments.
I really don't want another wife....I have a perfectly lovely and wonderful wife now. She makes me very very happy.

I just like getting picked is all...

Can't have too much of a good thing....
But not into having a polygamy lifestyle....just no!
There were reasons why men in the past had them and needed plural wives for all the many tasks that needed done... but I'm retired now...don't need all that.

I'm picked, so here's my scheme:

1) This is the primary influence on the other two points.
Be God-aware. It's like having a strange feeling that Someone is staring at you and you look up and there is.

2) Be self-aware (is that synonymous with self-consciousness?) be your biggest critic and constantly judge yourself. But that's not to say that you should do that without affording yourself grace. Of course you can, it's free after all. So, you can also be your biggest fan.

3) Be other-aware but withhold judgment. That's the aforementioned grace for yourself overflowing to others. You can either start out thinking the worst but walk it back or you can start out thinking the best and walk it back, but you need to employ point number two to get a clear picture of what you're seeing in others. That is, until you notice a certain nagging (I think that's what it is ) for the assertion of your (well-deliberated) opinion.

Well, I see some very interesting comments here. And and I will say my three comments.

Number one
I don't need to fly a plane when I can get the best pilot to fly a jet to your local airport. So I don't have to waste time with other things and that leads me almost the second one, but I'll put it as .1 B… I also only take a carry-on so we never have to wait for luggage on the treadmill so to speak. Come on if we're gonna use the treadmill we're gonna go to the gym. So being mobile allows me to get to you at any time. No matter where you are in the world.

Number two
I'm charming and adventurous and not boring. So while you think you could talk my ear off, I know how to talk to and interrupt you and put my fingers to your lips if you're talking too much very sweetly and gently. But you could do the same to me. So as long as you talk to me and I have some time to talk to you we can do a show for sure at a Ted talk.

Number three
Voice dictation on my phone is my superpower. So if you don't know how to use voice dictation, you're probably going to be a great loss communicating with me. So learn to use voice dictation on your phone, but if it's an iPhone, your voice dictation sucks because it keeps putting in the names from your contact lists when you're trying to say I want to Neil before you to propose it does what it did just now. It takes my dude Neil instead of saying. Kneel before you and proposal which I had to type out. So that really is a major loss so if we want to be really compatible, we are gonna have to get rid of our iPhones and get a Samsung ultra. Or a flip phone if we wanna actually spend time with each other instead of being on our phones all the time.

OK, I'm gonna go for number four
Number four
I get up before the sun, even if the sun gets up at 4:30. I'm following Thaddeus Owens concept of circadian rhythm. People who do this never get cancer or obese. Light is more important than diet. So just as the scripture say in his light, we see light. If you don't get up early, we would never find time any other time of the day to make love so it's over. Forget it. These are my final demands.
It looks like we already have one thing in common. I also wake up before sunrise. That's just my natural rhythm. It leaves more time to enjoy the day... and a little extra time for good conversations before the rest of the world wakes up. 😄

Many single men i see all looking for woman that makes a lot of money, good health, beautiful, young, hardworking.... Basically win win lottery type 😄 🤣 😂
Perfection doesn't exist. I'd rather meet someone who's genuine than someone who's perfect. 😄
Forget the lottery ticket, I would happily settle for a kind, caring, respectful man with old-fashioned gentlemanly manners.

Actually for middle age women, if one want to look for a guy that is in similar shape as her, such as age, financial stability, health.... that is already like wanting a lottery ticket.

Most middle aged man wants score either much younger girl, or very successful one, that will boost up their status.

Every one want to use marriage as a stepping stone. If not, they would rather be single, Which is very wise. If getting married in mid life will not be any happier than single, then why bother giving up single life?
