I do recommend going on a cruise with a friend. You can be seasick together. After you both recover you'll have a great time.

We were fortunate to go on another cruise in which our cabin was on an upper deck and had a balcony.

We attributed those two things as being the main reasons we didn't get seasick.

Because of this, we'll probably have to delay our plans a bit to save up enough for those added features.

It would be fun if we could somehow arrange a "CC Cruise" -- kind of pick a cruise and whoever wanted to come would show up -- but with everything being so expensive, I know it probably wouldn't be feasible.

YES! After all, they have been in the news recently about just how contraversal they are...
I mean, people overconsuming and health risks and all.

Promptly inserting Energy Drink Thread Idea into my rotisserie oven, er, I mean, my thinking cap.

I was joking in another thread that all my thread ideas have to churn around in my head for a while like rotisserie chickens until they get crispy and golden.

I have one other thread I've already written and is "down the hatch" -- awaiting approval -- but I actually had ideas for 5 threads today.

I've found though that 3-4 a day is pretty much the max. There are sometimes, if I have a day off, that I wouldn't mind cranking out 10 in a day just as a personal challenge, but anything over 4, and it understandably gets too overwhelming for the readers. So maybe I'll write out the energy one, pass it along for the stamp of approval, and I'll have met my quota for the day.

@Godsgirl1983 -- I have to admit (with a mischievous smile) that YOU are a big inspiration for some of my more ridiculous threads. I'm sitting at the keyboard thinking, "How can we get GG to smile today?!"

I couldn't do it without the ever-helpful, awesome Cast of Characters we can always count on in these threads, so I genuinely hope we made you laugh!

A CCC!
That would be fun.
Mmm how to fund it...win lotto?

Well we can dream...start a thread Captain Seoulsearch. What will our ship be called and where would it dock? What will you eat in the buffet? Everything? What entertainments shall we have? What excursions shall we sign up for? Will we have a lifeboat drill? Who would you share a cabin with?

So many questions...too many answers

Hmm, somebody mentioned flying...

"I'm skeered to fly and I don't care who knows it. I believe what the Bible says, LOW I will be with you always."

- Wendy Bagwell

I want to help with the controversy..

Anything other than walking or riding a horse or donkey is just NOT Biblical...
😃
But they have cars in the Bible:

God drove adam and eve out of the garden in a fury

And the disciples were all in one accord

Anyway, I like driving in my car for most transport needs. If it's going to be a long car trip, I'll probably fly. Private jet would be my preferred mode of transport but since I'll never be able to afford one, I'll probably just have to fly commercially in sardine (I mean economy) class. I don't have too many good memories of train trips ( and several not so good memories) so probably would only do trains if it was a more practical solution to go into a city and not have to worry about parking a car (and tolls, and other miscellaneous car travel expenses).

Cruises I'd be picky about, I don't particularly like the environment on a cruise ship (crowded, noisy, always trying to sell you something), but some trips would be better with one ship as home base rather than multiple short flights.

Bicycle was my main mode of transportation as a kid. Roller skates, roller blades, skateboard, and pogo stick were recreational modes of transportation.
I've had many automobiles, trucks, muscle cars, station wagons, minivans, SUV, sedans, and now Fiat 500 Convertible.
I've been on several kids of boats: canoe, kayak, pontoon, jet ski, jet boat, fishing boat, and cruise ships.
I commuted all over Southern California on a motorcycle. I've owned a few different ones that I also used for recreational riding.
I've commuted on the light rail in Denver, rode on Amtrak trains a few times, and rode on trains several times in Italy.
I've taken the bus (Greyhound) a few times.
I once rode on the Goodyear Blimp
I've been on a few types of airplanes: Cessna (single engine), Turboprop & Jetliners.
Do zip lines count?

I think the only one missing is a helicopter. I'll probably do that while in Las Vegas sometime. They have tours to the Grand Canyon.

This post would make an excellent future thread.

May I post it as part of the original post if I write the thread?

I have several others in the works so it might take me a while, but this idea is too good to pass up!

Thank you @Lanolin!

Thank you for taking the time to write this beautiful description of your experiences and travels, Carrie.

Reading your post was like reading an entry in a travel blog. 💖

Do you also have favorite "landmarks" at certain airports that you enjoy seeing? For instance, there's this dinosaur at Chicago O'Hare airport --

View attachment 291823

I just read that her official name is apparently "Ernestine," but I've always called her Sue, after another very famous dinosaur skeleton at a Chicago museum I saw as a kid.

Whenever I turn the corner and see "Sue" (Ernestine,) I know I'm only a few hours away from "home."

One thing I hate is how challenging flight bookings can be. I always have a layover in Chicago and 3 hours would be a perfect amount of time, but no, it's always something like 2 hours -- or 5 hours. And I always have to go with the longer time, just in case my arriving flight is late (and it can take 1/2 an hour just to get off the plane,) because you never know how far away your next gate is going to be -- or how often they're going to change it.

But reading your calm, relaxed, and grateful approach to flying -- I need to absorb some of that!!

Thank you very much for sharing. :)

I've only been to Chicago's Midway Airport. I haven't been to O'Hare yet. If/when I find myself there, I'll be sure to check Sue out! I like seeing big dino skeletons. It reminds me of the dino skeletons in Fernbank in Atlanta. I'll include a pic of me when I was there a few years ago. We couldn't get all the dino in the pic.

I like the quirkiness of Austin's airport. For example, they have a permanent food truck inside.
And I like the rainforest themed walkway in the Atlanta airport, that even has the sound of birds and the ceiling has a forest canopy.

This list is incredible!! I'm always fascinated by all the things you've experienced and places you have traveled. You have lived SOME kind of life, NT!

Zip lines definitely count!! I've never done one, but have always wanted to!

I've always thought it would be cool to go on the Autobahn (with someone else driving!) at what, like 100 miles per hour?!

And maybe the Bullet Trains in Japan...

If we really gotta go there...

When they rebuilt the temple in Ezra, motorcycles were popular. Apparently they didn't have very good muffler tech back then though. Their Triumph was heard many miles away.

Also Jesus had two cars, but one was a junker. He had an accord, but he didn't speak of it. When he drove the moneychangers out of the temple he was rocking a Plymouth, because he drove them out in a Fury.

Thank you so much for posting this!!! I can't believe the size and scale of that dinosaur!! And you look like the ever-intrepid explorer,
beautiful and ready for any adventure!!!

Now I really want to check out that airport.

You the crazy thing about Chicago O'Hare -- it's so big, that unless you fly specific airlines, you'll miss some of its most unique features, like "Sue" (Ernestine.)

She's located in Terminal 1, Concourse B, so if your flight is in any other concourse or terminal within B concourse, you'll probably miss her. :(

Same with what I always called The Rainbow Ceiling (I guess it's officially called, "Sky's the Limit").

This was here at least since I was a kid, long before the Alphabet Mafia, so at the time, it wasn't put up because of pride movemen or anything like that.

But it's located within United Terminal 1 between Concourses B and C (O'hare apparently has 9 concourses,) so anyone not traveling within this specific area to get to their flight will miss it. 😢

When I see this, it's another sign that I am "almost home."

Ok...

Two new threads -- one about facing the hard truths in our lives, and one about energy drinks, via @Godsgirl1983, are on the conveyor belt and awaiting ratification. 🤓

Yes, I know this is a shameless plug, but I always love seeing you all in the new threads! :D

Feel free to continue contributing to this one as other things come to mind.

I've driven on the Autobahn. I got up to 135mph. I rode with a co-worker at 165mph.
But then I once outran a tornado in Texas on a motorcycle doing 135 mph...
I've also been on the maglev train in Shanghai. 268mph. It was incredibly smooth.

I have a dumb question.

When you're going at speeds that fast, does it actually FEEL like you're going incredibly fast?

Or is it kind of like being in a plane, where the conditions are such that you don't really feel all that much motion?
