I see no reason to doubt the account as literal. Satan appears with a number of names and in many forms, even as an angel of light. He is called the Devil, Satan, the Serpent, the Tempter, murderer, father of lies and the Dragon. They are different aspects of his evil nature. In the wilderness, he acted as tempter.I'm sorry but none of that makes sense. If he was cursed to be a literal snake, then Jesus spoke to a snake when Satan tempted him?
If they would have "starved" to death, how is that possible when death wasn't a thing until after they sinned?
I don't know how people can take this literally... it makes absolutely zero logical sense and only ends up contradicting scripture.
God created mankind spirit, soul and body. The body requires food. God put fruit trees in Eden for the pair to eat. That was before they fell. What was the point if they did not need to eat?
