I used to be more of an extrovert and loved meeting new people, but now I've become jaded and would rather avoid people. About 25 years ago I sang a song on stage at a wedding and people were coming up and complimenting me. One even joked that he wanted to be my manager. It wasn't an easy song either, it was Careless Whisper by George Micheal. Don't take my old karaoke vids on here as examples. They were years after when I found that karaoke app and hadn't sung in over a decade. I've since learned from a woman whose been teaching voice for over 40 years (she's on youtube) and my singing sounds a lot better now (I think). I always get compliments from the ones I sing with on the app. Anyway, singing is like doing party tricks. It's a way to get some gratuitous approval, which is always fun.I was going to do a Part 2 of this thread covering people's food and entertainment choices, but I think everyone's pretty much mentioned them here already.
I forget that most of the people here on the forum usually identify as introverts, so most would prefer quieter, stay-in activities like reading or cards?
@zeroturbulence, I'm especially interested (and fascinated) by the thought of you singing karaoke (I would definitely attend!)
I think over the years you've said you're shy, and I know you said in a post here you wouldn't really be into socializing -- I'm just curious as to how this changes when you're singing?
I'm the opposite -- I've always said I'm an introvert who can masquerade as an extrovert when needed. So I could socialize with people, but the thought of me singing in front of them would have me frozen in fear!
But it would be awesome if you sang for us!![]()
Is this Smule?I used to be more of an extrovert and loved meeting new people, but now I've become jaded and would rather avoid people. Wow that's brave singing in front of people. I only did that once at the wedding but it wasn't karaoke. I was on the program lol. I was used to playing in front of audiences as a drummer.Is this Smule?
A CC member (you know who you are) once showed me this one but at the time I didn't have a super intelligent phone with enough storage for a lot of apps so never got to really use it. Maybe now I could try downloading it. Also I remember decades ago, Singstar used to be popular, those who had a playstation had it.
My school teacher friend would often go the the RSA and we'd go do Karaoke there. They had it once a week (but then that RSA got demolished for a new supermarket so we couldn't go there anymore). Now I go do it at a community centre. It's a lot of fun. We just use youtube with mics. Either with musical backing or sing along to lyrics on screen (nobody really cares if you can't do karaoke style alone), alone or with duet.
I get maybe 2 songs in, at most 3 (depending on how many come out to sing) and try to do different ones each time but there are def some favourites amongst peeps who like to sing the same ones each week. Some also choose Christian songs. I've never sung karaoke at a wedding tho.
It really is a joy to sing. Christians ought to be singing everyday, not just on Sundays. Don't worry if its not good enough for anyone else to hear. Just sing, sing a song.
One the one cruise I've been on, I wasn't then brave enough to get up in front of everyone, but I do remember one lady was really good. She sung 'I love Rock n Roll' (a crowd favourite) and was amazing.
I know this thread isn't about me, sorry, but I need to clarify that I was more extroverted in the past, (not really an extrovert, but more interested in interacting with people and stuff) but I was always very shy when it came to the opposite sex.I think over the years you've said you're shy, and I know you said in a post here you wouldn't really be into socializing --
Oh! I have an iphone now!! Must check it out. I will try the free one first.Wow that's brave singing in front of people. I only did that once at the wedding but it wasn't karaoke. I was on the program lol. I was used to playing in front of audiences as a drummer.
Yes it's Smule. I've heard it's best to use an iphone because it can have delay issues with other brands. You can use it for free, you just can't do any solo singing, only duets with others. If you decide to get the paid version, it's cheapest to buy it from the apple store (if you have an iphone).
I want to go handgliding. Which we can do at a port, or do parasailing instead.What is YOUR idea of a good cruise ship?
Those are really good!2. What name(s) do you think would be good for our ship?
* Cruisin' 4 Trouble?
* Pier Pressure?
* Knot Today!
* Seas the Day?

i concur with most of the above. however, if you were born in the middle of New York, you most likely, wouldn't be saying that. there's so much to partake of here it's immeasurable. you would totally enjoy Saratoga & maybe manhattan. it's a 3 & half hour ride to the coastline. not to bad.haha
Just think of it like a Christian Camp except on a ship
Where is your sense of adventure?!
I must be the only one...but I do live on an Island with many ports and a long coastline. I can't imagine living somewhere landlocked.
Yeah, I got sea sick very bad.some experience we have arriving your way about cruises:
1. totally know that you want to vacation on a cruise. lot's of people get seasick.
2. also know that you are not going to be afraid of being completely surrounded by water for hours at a time.
3. it's best to find a very experienced travel agent who specializes in cruise vacations. this is a big deal concerning cruises.4.
