Hey Everyone,

They say you can travel by land, air, and sea -- and it looks like we've already knocked out one of the three!! We've conquered the vast oceans with our Christian Chat Cruise -- so what happens when we take this show on the road?! Someone in the cruising thread suggested a road trip, so let's see what kind of fun we can "drive" through!

1. What kind of vehicle(s) will we be taking? When you envision a road trip, what kind of vehicle would you like to travel in?

2. Who would volunteer to drive?!!! (Seeing as I've been driving a small car for many years, I'll have to pass on this one!!) But how about you?!






3. Where would we want to go?!

I've always wanted to travel the USA's iconic Route 66 from one end to the other, but any country, region, or stretch of road is open for suggestions!!




4. What are your essentials on the road? Glancing at this Road Trip Checklist, what things would you absolutely need to bring along?

(Does a stuffed critter count as an essential for a grown adult? Asking for a friend... )




Depending on how this thread goes, maybe we'll have another asking about other things like stops and snacks!!

It's all just meant for fun, so feel free to get as creative with your answers as you want.

And don't forget all those group photos we'll be taking!!!

Oh CarriePie has already commandeered a pink Chevy truck of vintage style which I have called shotgun on. We are going to hunt Whangdoodles in Whangdoodle country, which I believe is off the beaten track. Charlessiii is going to bring up the rear in his pimped up yellow Datsun.

I haven't packed yet we may need to leave soon I will just throw on my clothes and go. We'll pick up everything on the way, plus CarriePie has promised we'd stop and get fish&chips on the way. CarriePie is my new BF. (best friend) because she's got the mighty power of Vegemite. You always keep a jar on you when going on the road.

There might be room for you Seoulsearch but haven't you just gotten off the Cruise after stealing my giraffes? Which I let you get away with? In your tiny car. I don't know how you did it either.

Oh change of plan it turns out CarriePie is not driving after all.
She said I had to stay behind on the Cruise ship because I wasn't a hardened whangdoodle veteran like her new beau Charlesiii is.
I'll just be on the road to Tara when I eventually get off. Are you going that way? I plan to hitch hike. Shall I do it by sticking my thumb out or showing my leg?

Now if THIS vehicle doesn't scream, "THOSE WHANGDOODLES DON'T HAVE A CHANCE," and, "WE ARE TAKING DOWN ANYTHING THAT GETS IN OUR PATH," I don't know what would!!

However, we'll have to get @CarriePie and @Charlesiii official blessing first, as they are our resident Whangie Doodle experts!

Also, I'll take a double order of those fish'n'chips...

Why, IF I were going to steal your precious giraffes, and I'M NOT SAYING I WOULD (after all, some #SpottedLongNeckLivesMatter attorney might be reading this,) I would use a clown car, of course!!



After all, any car that can hold approximately 30 clowns can surely hold a few measly giraffes!

But don't worry.

I most likely will just leave them be (I can't GUARANTEE it, but I'm just saying.)

You'd said on the ship there would be a "long drop" -- so no one had to worry about cleaning up after them.

I won't have that convenience on land, and there's no way I could risk messing my best typing fingers cleaning up after a herd of giraffes!

I would recommend that you show your leg.

It's not nearly as common, so potential rides will be much more likely to notice.

And I don't know about New Zealand, but if it's here in the USA, you might want to shave first!

I'm heading to Whangdoodle-land to disrupt their operations and dismantle their mind control signal (kinda like a cross between the movies They Live and Hell Comes to Frogtown). I'll be in a 70s Chevy truck, like Patrick Swayze drove in Red Dawn. I plan to have the truck stocked with armament from the weapons bunker. I'm hoping @Charlesiii will be the driver. If someone wants to come along for the adventure (@seoulsearch @Lanolin ...?) they can pass me the ammo. You know the saying, "Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition!"

We'll have the back filled with Whangdoodle annhilation necessities like Rickett the Cricket on Tulsa King.

These threads are one place where Trolls can't disrupt good times. Love it.

Long-time readers will tell you that we occasionally do run into trolls, unfortunately. I've had more than my share of spats over the years, but it's almost always because I like to keep certain parameters on my own threads, when I can.

My favorite troll story was of some guy years ago who accused me of calling both him and God racist in a thread... I can't even remember what the topic was (I'm sure I could find it, but it would take a while.) I wrote a post asking everyone in the thread to please flag my post(s) where I had said this, and report them to the mods. The response was that no one could find a post of me saying any of what he said I did.

I'm certainly NOT trying to say that I'm right all the time , but I have nothing to hide and am always willing to own up to my side of the fence.

This guy very loudly announced (I think in all capital letters, lol) that he was PUTTING ME ON IGNORE.

Ok.

And guess who was the very first person to show up in something like my next 3 threads?! I guess he was just trying to make sure I was staying within his own hand-drawn lines! I got the biggest kick out of that, and still laugh about it to this day. And he eventually got banned for whatever reasons on his own.

I fully endorse using the Ignore function when needed -- I know it's the only thing keeping some regulars here sane. But I've found it doesn't work well when you write threads. I like to keep the conversations going if I can, so trying to keep up a thread when you have half the people on Ignore is like trying to keep up with a group conversation while wearing earplugs.

What cracks me up is when people feel the need to BOLDLY DECLARE in writing that they're PUTTING SOMEONE ON IGNORE -- only to answer that person the very next time they post!!

I'm sorry, but I can't see how a 2-second Ignore really counts. If I REALLY want to Ignore someone, I just skip their posts -- and I happily encourage those who don't like my posts to put me on Ignore or skip over what I write as well.

The GREAT thing about writing threads is that every new thread is a clean slate! My response to trolling is to just keep writing threads.

And I've found that over time, trolls get tired and bored of trying to keep up, so they just seem to naturally fall away.

I've always said that the forum is like a maze -- writing threads opens up new wings of the maze that the trolls eventually get tired of chasing -- at least, here in Singles and Family. I'm guessing it wouldn't work in the Bible Discussion Forum, but I could be wrong.

And this is why I chose "OutWrite Trouble" as my forum title -- because when trouble comes, I just try my best to OutWrite it.

Hmm....well you were the prime suspect....I'm talking about the buffet centrepiece giraffes, not my actual giraffes.

Well, the giraffes are saying they want to go on a road trip after all. Are they allowed on the road? They'll be walking though, sort of at a leisurely pace, and only galloping when they need to run away from speeding clown cars. Which I suspect are hiding a herd of tiny elephants.

Oh my goodness.

I miss the old 80's action flicks where the bad guys got their due (usually in the form of very large guns,) and the heroes got the girl and rode off into the sunset.




Now I admit, I'm a novice at passing ammunition...

Not sure I trust Charlesiii to be the driver. Where exactly is Whangdoodle country? I think he's used to driving on the left side of the road. But if it's off the beaten track, then I suppose it doesn't matter.

Besides, now I have the problem of what to do with my giraffes. I can't make up my mind, but maybe they can stay onboard for a while longer as they now got used to the luxury of the cruise ship.. However if they don't stretch their legs soon I'm afraid they might atrophy if they don't get out for a long walk every now and again.
