Just listing scripture that has faith and/or repentance in the same verse does not prove it.
Sure, it does.
I can give scripture that couples “ faith” and “confession” together for SALVATION (Rom. 10:9-10) but that does not prove that they are the same thing, or a “two-sided coin”, or that they happen at the same time, or that you can’t have one without the other.
Read Romans 10:8 carefully - But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach): Again, not the same and also not two separate steps to salvation but chronologically together. Confession is a confirmation of faith and not a work for salvation after one believes unto righteousness.
I can give scripture that puts faith and baptism together—by the LORD, no less— but that does not mean they are a ”two-sided coin” or that if you have one, you automatically have the other.
Unlike repentance and faith, faith and baptism are not two sides to the same coin and if you have one you don't automatically have the other.
The ONLY 2 components you want to say are in separate able are faith and repentance - not faith and confession; not faith and baptism; only faith and repentance.
The word of faith is in our mouth and in our heart TOGETHER which does not mean the word of faith is in our mouth but not in our heart or in our heart but not in our mouth, which makes them chronologically together.
And so, it become very clear, why you teach this. You are forced to teach it this way as long as you hold on to a “faith only” doctrine for salvation.
Again, I don't teach salvation by faith only per James 2:24. James is refuting an empty profession of faith/dead faith and not genuine faith. (James 2:14-20) I teach salvation by faith in Jesus Christ alone (Romans 4:5-6; Ephesians 2:8,9) which does not mean that we never repented or that the word of faith is in our heart but not in our mouth.
It’s like the so-called “sinner’s prayer”. It’s not in the Bible; no one was ever saved that way in the Bible, plus you have the example of Saul of Tarsus who prayed for 3 days but still had his sins in Acts 22:16, but all that makes no difference; it’s not important. What is most important to those who believe it, is saving a false doctrine of salvation by faith only; supported by the doctrines and commandments of men.
More church of Christ indoctrination. Now in regard to the sinner's prayer, simply reciting the words of a sinner's prayer in of itself will not accomplish anything. I must have prayed the sinner's prayer 20 different times with Pat Robertson while watching the 700 Club when I was a teenager, yet nothing happened. Why? Because there was no repentance immediately followed by faith. Such a prayer needs to include what a person knows, understands, and believes about their sinfulness and need for salvation, followed by repentance/faith.

For a person who comes to the realization that he is lost and in need of Jesus Christ to save him, he may obtain salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone. He needs to understand that Jesus Christ paid the penalty for his sins by His sacrifice on the cross of Calvary, was buried, and rose again the third day, and he needs to make a genuine and willful decision to totally trust in Jesus as the ALL-sufficient means of their salvation in order to be saved. In doing this he is calling on the name of the Lord to save him.

Now if subsequent to such a decision, the person would like to pray what some call a "sinner’s prayer," (calling on the name of the Lord to save him in prayer) he may do so, as long as he understands that it was his decision to trust in Jesus Christ alone for salvation that apprehends his salvation and not simply reciting a prayer in of itself, as if it's a magical formula to recite a set of words, but prayer may be used to call upon the name of the Lord.

Here is an excellent article on Acts 22:16 - https://kentbrandenburg.blogspot.com/2015/03/acts-2216-baptism-essential-for.html
Matthew 15:9 - “These people draw near to me with their mouth, and honor me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. And in vain they worship me, TEACHING AS DOCTRINES THE COMMANDMENTS OF MEN.”
Who was Jesus addressing in Matthew 15:9?

Matthew 15:1 - Then the scribes and Pharisees who were from Jerusalem came to Jesus, saying, 2 "Why do Your disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat bread.” 3 He answered and said to them, “Why do you also transgress the commandment of God because of your tradition? 4 For God commanded, saying, ‘Honor your father and your mother’; and, ‘He who curses father or mother, let him be put to death.’ 5 But you say, ‘Whoever says to his father or mother, “Whatever profit you might have received from me is a gift to God”— 6 then he need not honor his father or mother.’ Thus you have made the commandment of God of no effect by your tradition. 7 Hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy about you, saying: 8 ‘These people draw near to Me with their mouth, and honor Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me. 9 And in vain they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’ ”

Repentance and faith are two sides to the same coin. Repentance is on one side and is a change of mind and faith is the other side, the new direction of that change of mind. The Bible makes this clear:

Matthew 21:32 - For John came to you to show you the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him, but the tax collectors and the prostitutes did. And even after you saw this, you did not repent and believe him.

Mark 1:15 - And saying, the time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent and believe the gospel.

Acts 20:21 - testifying both to Jews and to Greeks of repentance toward God and of faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.

I don't teach salvation by "faith only" per James 2:24 which is not genuine faith but a bare profession of faith. (James 2:14) Not to be confused with salvation through faith in Jesus Christ alone for salvation. (Romans 4:5-6; Ephesians 2:8,9) Hence, God imputes righteousness apart from works and saved by grace through faith, not works.

That fact that we must first repent (change our mind) before we can place our faith in Jesus Christ alone for salvation doesn't destroy the doctrine of saved by faith alone. Faith (rightly understood) in Jesus Christ alone for salvation.

I never said that repentance and belief/faith were the exact same thing. I said they were two sides to the same coin. Repent (change your mind) -- new direction of this change of mind -- belief/faith in Jesus Christ alone for salvation. Not belief/faith in works for salvation but faith (belief, trust, reliance) in Jesus Christ alone for salvation.

Again, I never said they were the exact same thing. Please try to pay closer attention to what I say. Neither repentance, belief or confession are the exact same thing. Also, confession and belief are not two separate steps to salvation but are chronologically together. (Romans 10:8-10)

Move on from the straw man argument.

Repent and believe the gospel are inseparable. Where you have one you must have the other. If you truly believe the gospel then you already repented and if truly repented then you believe the gospel. In regard to confession and belief, the word of faith is in our mouth and in our heart TOGETHER. (Romans 10:8) It's not believe today then finally confess next week or confess today then finally believe next week. Again, not two separate steps to salvation but chronologically together.

False. A person may believe "mental assent" in certain facts about Jesus and not repent but there is no saving belief without first coming to repent.

What did he believe? Certain facts about Jesus at best yet he did not believe in Jesus unto salvation. The rich young ruler could not give up his idolatrous god (riches) not even in exchange for eternal life. The rich young ruler failed to repent and believe in Jesus unto salvation.

You just don't get it. Sigh..

I see no scriptures given that teaches your doctrine. Only human reasoning. If faith and repentance are inseparable as you say, then so is repentance and baptism. They go together. Just read Acts 2:38. And I know faith and baptism go together and are inseparable because Jesus says so in Mark 16:16. If one, why not the other? I have more scripture that shows that repentance and baptism go together ( Acts 2:38) and are inseparable and that faith and baptism go together ( Mark 16:16) and are inseparable than you have trying to convince us that repentance and faith go together and are In separateable. You are making up your own rules to suit your false doctrine and You are not consistent with your treatment of scripture. You only accept faith and repentance as being in separate able ( with no scripture that teaches it) while refusing to accept repentance and baptism as preached by Peter in Acts 2:38 nor faith and baptism as taught by Jesus in Mark 16:16. They all stand or fall together.

Yes, I know you can find a scripture that has both faith and repentance in it but no scripture that says they are “2 sides of the same coin.” Where is THAT VERSE? Or where is that taught? That part is just human reasoning.

I gave you multiple passages of scripture that teach my doctrine and not merely human reasoning. (1 Corinthians 2:11-14)
If faith and repentance are inseparable as you say, then so is repentance and baptism.
Not so. It's impossible to have faith without repentance and the new direction of this change of mind in repentance is faith. Where you have one you must have the other. For someone to say they have faith, but they never repented is an oxymoron just as for someone to say they truly repented but they don't have faith is also an oxymoron. Yet one can truly repent and not yet be water baptized, so repentance and baptism are not inseparable. Check out these verses below on repentance with no mention of baptism.

Luke 24:47 - and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

Acts 3:19 - Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord.

Acts 5:31 - Him God has exalted to His right hand to be Prince and Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins.
*What happened to baptism? Belief/faith does not need to be mentioned because it's already implied or assumed, since repentance and belief/faith are two sides to the same coin. (Matthew 21:32; Mark 1:15; Acts 20:21) *Hermeneutics.
They go together.
They are not inseparable because you can repent and NOT YET BE WATER BAPTIZED, but you cannot truly repent without the new direction of that change of mind in repentance resulting in faith.
Just read Acts 2:38. And I know faith and baptism go together and are inseparable because Jesus says so in Mark 16:16. If one, why not the other?
Acts 2:38 must be read alongside verses like (Luke 24:47; Acts 3:19; 5:31; 10:43-47; 11:17,18; 13:38-39; 15:7-9; 16:31; 26:18) and consider the fact that forgiveness is explicitly tied to repentance/belief/faith and not water baptism.

In Acts 2:38, "for the remission of sins" does not refer back to both clauses, "you all repent" and "each one of you be baptized," but refers only to the first. Peter is saying "repent unto the remission of your sins," the same as in Acts 3:19. The clause "each one of you be baptized" is parenthetical. This is exactly what Acts 3:19 teaches except that Peter omits the parenthesis.

*Also compare the fact that these Gentiles in Acts 10:45 received the gift of the Holy Spirit (compare with Acts 2:38 - the gift of the Holy Spirit) and this was BEFORE water baptism. (Acts 10:47)

In Acts 10:43 we read ..whoever believes in Him receives remission of sins. Again, these Gentiles received the gift of the Holy Spirit -Acts 10:45 - when they believed on the Lord Jesus Christ - Acts 11:17 - (compare with Acts 16:31 - Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved) BEFORE water baptism - Acts 10:47. This is referred to as repentance unto life - Acts 11:18.

*So, the only logical conclusion when properly harmonizing scripture with scripture is that faith in Jesus Christ "implied in genuine repentance" (rather than water baptism) brings the remission of sins and the gift of the Holy Spirit. (Luke 24:47; Acts 2:38; 3:19; 5:31; 10:43-47; 11:17,18; 13:38-39; 15:7-9; 16:31; 26:18) *Perfect Harmony*

If repentance and baptism were inseparable, then Luke 24:47, Acts 3:19 and Acts 5:31 would be misleading. If faith and baptism were inseparable, then baptism along with faith in Mark 16:16 would result in condemnation, yet instead we read - ..but he who does not believe will be condemned. *Nowhere in scripture do we read, "but whoever is not baptized will be condemned." In Acts 10:43, we read - ..whoever believes in Him receives remission of sins with no mention of baptism. In Acts 10:47, we read - "Can anyone forbid water, that these should not be baptized who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?" Believes in Him and baptism are not inseparable. These Gentiles believed, received the gift of the Holy Spirit and spoke in tongues (spiritual gift that is ONLY for the body of Christ - 1 Corinthians 12) and were saved BEFORE water baptism. (Acts 10:43-47)
You are making up your own rules to suit your false doctrine and You are not consistent with your treatment of scripture.
I am properly harmonizing scripture with scripture before reaching my conclusion on doctrine.
You only accept faith and repentance as being in separate able (with no scripture that teaches it) while refusing to accept repentance and baptism as preached by Peter in Acts 2:38 nor faith and baptism as taught by Jesus in Mark 16:16. They all stand or fall together.
I already backed up my argument with scripture. 👀 You just don't have eyes to see.
Yes, I know you can find a scripture that has both faith and repentance in it but no scripture that says they are “2 sides of the same coin.” Where is THAT VERSE? Or where is that taught? That part is just human reasoning.
You actually need scripture to spell out "two sides to the same coin" in order to understand that repentance and faith are two sides to the same coin? Now examine the evidence again from scripture.

Matthew 21:32 - For John came to you to show you the way of righteousness, and you did not believe him, but the tax collectors and the prostitutes did. And even after you saw this, you did not repent and believe him. Did you see that? They did not believe him, which means they did not yet repent. They did not repent (change their mind) and believe him. Had they repented, they would have believed. INSEPARABLE.

Mark 1:15 - And saying, the time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent and believe the gospel. Did you see that? Repent (change your mind) and believe the gospel. When one repents the new direction of that change of mind is believe the gospel. INSEPARABLE.

Acts 20:21 - testifying both to Jews and to Greeks of repentance toward God and of faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. Did you see that? Faith in our Lord Jesus Christ follows repentance toward God. INSEPARABLE.

It's clearly taught in scripture. You simply refuse to see it. Human reasoning culminates in salvation by works and disregards salvation through faith in Jesus Christ alone. (Ephesians 2:8,9)

The Bible makes it clear in many passages of scripture that man is saved through belief/faith - "apart from additions or modifications." (John 1:12; 3:15,16,18,36; 5:24; 6:29,40,47; 11:25,26; Acts 10:43; 13:38-39; 15:7-9; 16:31; 26:18; Romans 1:16; 3:24-28; 4:5-6; 5:1-2; 10:4; 1 Corinthians 1:21; Galatians 2:16; 3:6-14, 26; Ephesians 2:8,9; Philippians 3:9; 2 Timothy 3:15; Hebrews 10:39; 1 John 5:13 etc..).

Now we don't need to "add" the word "alone" next to "belief/faith" in each of those passages of scripture in order to figure out that the words, "belief/faith" stand alone in connection with receiving eternal life/salvation. Hence, FAITH ALONE.

Do these many passages of scripture say belief/faith "plus something else?" Plus, baptism? Plus, works? NO. So, then it's faith (rightly understood) in Jesus Christ alone. This is not hard to understand. It's just hard for works-salvationists to ACCEPT.

Absolutely. Romans 5:1 - Therefore, having been justified by faith, (apart from additions or modifications, hence faith alone) we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Ephesians 2:8 - For by grace you have been saved through faith, (apart from additions or modifications, hence faith alone) and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God. 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.

Paul is expressing the importance of love and is not suggesting that there are Christians who have faith that can move mountains but have no hope or no love at all and won't be saved. If we have faith, then it would be impossible to not have hope. Hebrews 11:6 - Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. If we have no love, then we demonstrate that we have not been born of God. 1 John 4:7 - Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. 8 He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.
Luke 3:8

To bear fruits worthy of repentance (Luke 3:8) is to demonstrate genuine transformation through their actions from their repentance rather than relying on their lineage as descendants of Abraham.

why add to your faith?

2 pet 1:5-11

5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;

6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;

7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.

8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

9 But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.

10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:

11 For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Adding to your faith is not adding works to salvation through faith. By cultivating the qualities listed in 2 Peter 1:5-7, Christians can be sure that God has called them and elected them. These fruits will confirm it. Make sure you have been called and elected. bébaios (an adjective, derived from bainō, "to walk where it is solid") – properly, solid (sure) enough to walk on; hence, firm, unshakable; (figuratively) absolutely dependable, giving guaranteed support (security, surety). Make sure that you are saved.

To practice these qualities gives evidence of and assurance of salvation, though they are not the basis or means of salvation. They are the effect. Cause of being in Christ (FAITH) effect of being in Christ (FRUIT). For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ (vs. 8). For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins (vs. 9).

What is the object of the forgetting? Is this forgetting temporary because this believer had fallen into error or does this lack of fruit exist because this person’s "cleansing" was merely an external reformation that did not come from a truly changed heart? The genuineness of their profession will be demonstrated as they express these virtues. These fruits confirm their divine source. In Proverbs 24:16, we read - For a righteous man may fall seven times and rise again, But the wicked shall fall by calamity.

I try to live as righteous a life as possible since being baptised and try to live a sinless life. But I still have problems with things like swearing and smoking mainly. I wish God would speak to me directly so I know where I'm at spiritually because if theres no hope in making it to heaven then I may as well just live recklessly right?
No man knows his fate nor his heart.

The Lamb's Book of Life has not been opened.

The God of the Bible is a merciful one.

I believe that eternal life awaits me but I still work out my salvation with fear and trembling.

There is no reward for living a reckless life regardless of where you end up.

No one goes to heaven, all goes to grave, and then waiting for resurrection.

So why did Paul write:

NKJV 2Co 5:8 We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.

How could the words of Jesus to the repentant thief on the cross be true:

NKJV Luk 23:43 And Jesus said to him, "Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise."

Such words seem to go against any idea that when a Christian dies, he enters into some kind of "soul sleep" until the Second Coming. Rather, that is when Christians' souls and bodies are re-united.

Where did Jesus go, heaven or grave? "You will not leave my soul in Hades, nor will you allow your Holy One see corruption."
