This runs against the norm here, but if you were retired like me Covid was financially very good to me. All the extra income from all the stimulus programs allowed me to pay the balance of my mortgage. Then the COLAs from the Biden Administration more than paid for any increase in my cost of living.

WOW!

This is amazing!!

Congratulations!!

It's refreshing to hear a real-life story where God truly used "all things to the good" of someone who loves Him!! :) 🙏🏼

Thank you very much for sharing.

My favorite food is the hamburger. Nothing else compares. That said, I also enjoy lots of other foods. Pepperoni pizza with tons of pepperoni on it, and I have to add lots of crushed red pepper. That's the only kind of pizza I want to eat. In Boston recently, I ordered an 18" pizza and paid for triple pepperoni. I ended up with an average of two thin pepperoni pieces on each slice. That was a MAJOR disappointment. The good thing that happened was I got caught in a downpour without an umbrella while walking back to the motel. I took a wrong turn and, well, it took me a while to find the motel. By the time I got there both the pizza box and the pizza inside were mush, so I went without dinner, which was just as well given the lack of pepperoni... I love deep fried breaded halibut and rockfish. I love calamari/squid. I love fried chicken and I love eastern Carolina BBQ. I love a good soft, moist biscuit.

Brussels sprouts, artichokes, and anything else I haven't eaten because I don't like the looks of or the smell of all belong in the lake of fire!

When I was young, before I became a basket case, I surfed, windsurfed, snow boarded before snowboarding was cool, snorkeled and scuba dived, ran multiple marathons, etc. I can't do any of that now but I'm glad I did those things when I could.

Life is a blessing. Live it to the fullest, in Christ. That is the only way to live well... in Christ.

What do you think of Chicago deep dish pizza?

Such a tragedy about the lack of pepperoni on a supposed triple order!! 😭

And thank you for mentioning all the water, wind, snow, and running sports! Wow. You were practically The Terminator! 🤖🦿(@Lanolin's favorite tree would have never had a chance back in those days!) 😆

It makes me think of the days when I used to go jet skiing on the lake with friends... (We were fortunate enough to be friends with someone whose family owned the jet ski's.) But those days are long gone.

I really enjoy it when people share their adventures, no matter how mundane or grand, because it's a big reminder to try to live each day God gives us to the fullest -- in any stage of life. 🙏🏼

Thank you for posting!

I'm sure it's good but I try to avoid pizza types named after cities. That's been since I tried a Mr. Jim's Detroit style pizza. Mr. Jim's is a local pizzeria that makes decent pizza, but I made the mistake of trying their Detroit style... it was horrible. It was like re-eating the worst ever frozen pizza I've ever had in my life, and you know that there are some pretty horrible frozen pizzas out there that don't even taste like food, and probably aren't...

Frozen pizza has been very, very bad to me. :(

*Seoulsearch hangs her head.*

Frozen pizza, Hershey's chocolate, and Kraft Mac 'n' Cheese have been very, very good to my tastebuds...

They HAVE NOT been so good to the rest of me, but for whatever reason, I guess I have cheap tastes! 😆

I'll just go back to my timeout chair now... :sneaky:

It is a burden to desire food made from scratch with fresh ingredients. It would be easier if I could just eat processed foods from the frozen section of the store, but I've been spoiled by good cooking.

Wow thats a lot of things going on in this thread!

very very good to me

Things - books, op shops, flowers, seafood, fresh pizza
people -my neighbours, my sister (even when she's yelling at me), my dad, Bible ladies
Places - any place with gardens, my hometown I grew up in (that's why I haven't left it) , libraries

not so good to me

things - alcohol, most drugs, e-books, spicy more than 3 chilli rating food, frozen pizza,
people - dentists
places - dental clinics (the cost)

Sorry dentists!

Poor Texas, lol. 😂

But what an amazing travel roster! 🏆

That reminds me recently there was a listing in the NZ Herald's travel magazine of best travel destinations as voted by readers and some of them were surprising but others not so.

I recall Vietnam was voted #1 for food, but I also noted Auckland made #4 even though entire countries were voted in the food category

Queenstown was voted #1 as travel destination in NZ even over Rotorua

Japan is voted #1 best overseas travel destination

Kiwis love Japan. I remember growing up in school we all studied Japan and could learn the Japanese language, and everyone was saying how useful it would be because Japan was going to be our trade partner and they were rich and would save us from economic ruin. lol
They didn't reckon with China.

Alot of these destinations also depend on how easy to get to, attractions on offer, I mean it helps if there are direct flights and it's not too expensive, or too far away. But then some places are just totally geared for tourists, like Queenstown, which is our adventure capital. It's like Whistler or the Alps or Aspen for ski bunnies

In terms of places to actually LIVE, as opposed to visit, well nobody can actually afford to live and work in Queenstown lol

I don't think we can get Kraft mac n' cheese in my country

I know I can make mac n' cheese myself (not out of. a box) but it might be interesting to try it if I ever came across it.

I have already tried frozen pizza and Hershey's chocolate. No to either of them! Never again!

Huh it turns it you can buy it at Woolworths in nz

But which one? Its won't be in the frozen food aisle where I know Watties has them already made.

The one in box or the one in a bowl?

I will have to have a look next time I go to the supermarket. If I am making macaroni I just use the dried Diamond pasta.
