My name is Peter but my online persona is StoneLion
. I am a single Christian father looking to make new friends of all kinds, but hopefully relatively nearby to chat with and spend time together sharing our faith and interests! Secondarily, I am also here to meet some like-minded single ladies (especially single mothers) to get to know each other and see if the Lord intends something more than friendship.
I play drums in the Worship Band and volunteer for my Church when I have time. I am very much on Fire for Christ, so it's the largest part of my identity. Reading the Bible, attending sermons, and listening to readings of the Word are very important to me. I can be rather intense and direct with how I speak and act; people tell me I am a very literal and "straight-laced" person, but I do like to have fun and just hang out—I don't watch TV myself for example, but don't mind watching with friends and I'm open to all kinds of music and media!
Denomination-wise I'd consider myself Lutheran, but I attend a Salvation Army Church right now because I was drawn there by the Holy Spirit.
Work & Canadian Life
I work full time, overnights 5 days a week moving freight, and honestly couldn't be happier with my job as it keeps me in great shape! My background is Italian/Irish but I consider myself Canadian and really enjoy our culture: the cold (even shovelling snow), a hot coffee in the stands at a friend's hockey game after a long night working, and watching the streets light up with displays at Christmas time. I don't eat a lot of sugar but can't help myself around a pumpkin or apple pie in the Autumn. There are so many great trails where I live and I enjoy going for walks through the different valleys and forests or taking trips out to the hundreds of farmer's markets and farms nearby.
With the price of things, I don't go out to eat nearly as much anymore, but I used to be a big foodie and still know some great little restaurants nearby that I would love to bring some friends to! Since I grew up learning how to make gnocchi and fettuccine from scratch and prepping pork shoulder to make into sausage as a boy, cooking is true therapy for me. I really enjoy cooking, although I'm not very good at baking. I also have a green thumb and try my best to plant at least a small garden wherever I am living, including apartments lol.
Interests & Hobbies
I love ancient and Christian history, reading in general, science, music, movies, and video games (Total War: Rome 2 is my favourite game). I stream on Twitch when I can and enjoy talking about the history and lore of games, as well as playing co-op and multiplayer games with my friends. I'm very open to discussing all kinds of topics including but not limited to: History, Religion/Theology, Mythology, Zoology (Lions and Gorillas are my favourite animals), Biology, Technology, Astronomy, and Mechanics. I have a storied life and could regale you for hours about the crazy things I've seen and done working in the Northern Ontario forests or the factories and warehouses across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). I also used to be in 4 different semi-professional bands from high school through to my mid 20s, nothing crazy but percussion became my primary musical craft and I thoroughly enjoy drumming on the kit when I get the chance.
Discord is my primary way of communicating with friends simply because so many of them are from all around the world, and I like that we can stream on call—watching videos and movies or listening to music together. However, it would be really great to meet some Christian friends nearby so we could coordinate going camping or cottaging. I love the outdoors: Canoeing, swimming, and fishing in Sugar Lake are some of my earliest memories, although I'm still not a very good fisherman despite my name xD. I used to hunt with a compound bow in my 20s but I simply don't have those same connections anymore, although I would love to take it back up again. Archery and ancient types of combat in general are a huge interest to me for sure: we (safely) throw axes at the cottage and I've been teaching myself to throw javelins.
What I am Looking For
My main goal is to make some new Christian friends who are hopefully in the same rough area as I am—or not, I'm not super picky if we click and share interests and you're interested in online chat/gaming too! The most important thing to me is meeting people who are also very strong and committed in their faith. Not to go too deep into it, but I've had a hard time with betrayals and just want some wholesome, God-focused friends.
Romantically, which is really secondary, I'm looking for something very slow, simple, and in line with Christ's intentions for us as couples. My first marriage was not within the faith and partly because of that fell apart, so I want to be very clear that I am here to make real friends first and then see where things go from there. My intention is to get married again eventually, so I am looking for the one the Lord has sent for me.
