Hey Everyone!

What would happen if we set up a CC Neighborhood?

For any friends who are new to this site, we sometimes host a series of threads in which we set up virtual situations (in the Singles and Family sections of the forum) -- then sit back and watch what happens as each person adds to the adventure! Feel free to join right in. :)

Disclaimer:

When writing this thread, the system gave me a message saying I was including too much for one post -- therefore, I'll have to break this introduction into 2 opening posts instead of 1.

So, if we had a CC Neighborhood in which every CC member (who wants to participate) sets up their own place:

1. What would your residence look like? Would you choose a stately mansion, a sleek apartment, an RV/camper/tiny house -- or even a nest or trash can?

1789499058658.png

1789499179671.png

2. What kind of landscaping would your living space have? An impressive garden, a white picket fence, or heaps of old cars?

1789499577682.png

1789499437710.png

1789499623487.png

3. While we're on the happy topic of landscaping styles... Would we have an HOA?! (Home Owner's Association!)

And is it something YOU would want to be a part of? (Do YOU want to be the one to tell people what they can and can't do with their own property?!) 😂

(Continued in the Next Post!) :)

4. And most importantly, what kind of neighbor WOULD YOU be? Would you host parties and BBQ's, or would you be the reclusive person at the end of the block with 19 cats/dogs that everyone else tells stories about? 😎 Would you answer the door wearing a cardigan and offering cookies -- or would you tell everyone to "GET OFF MY LAWN?!"

While we appreciate Mr. Rogers teaching us all how to be good neighbors back in the day...

Let's put those skills to the test and see what kinds of REAL neighbors we would get -- in The CC 'Hood!! 😎😁🏘️

Come stake out your lot and tell us what kind of neighbor YOU would be!

Oh wow I can't wait to see peoples answers on here. I have to have a think.

We didn't have Mr Rogers on tv in NZ. We had Neighbours, which was an Aussie soap set in Ramsay Street. We had NZ soapie Shortland Street, set in a Accident and Emergency Clinic and some Nurses flats and Doctors homes in imaginary suburb of Ferndale (actually it is filmed not far up the road from me) ...we did have Sesame Street...and we still have Coronation Street. I never watched Coronations Street! That was for Poms. lol And it's been going for yonks (donkey's years)

I note none of your choices includes the church manse...

I'd have a container house with rock landscaping so I wouldn't have to mow.

Two fruit trees out front though. Probably fig and cherry.

Don't care if kids play, just don't try to sue me if they climb a tree and fall and break a leg. I didn't tell them to climb that tree.

If you play music loud I will mention the existence of earbuds. If you continue... Well, I got speakers and amps fit for blasting music loud enough you can hear it all the way to down town. You wanna do this? Let's dance.

Say it ain't so! :p

Hush, Cat!!! 😆

I go back and forth between whether I'd have a cute, welcoming little cottage -- or something bordering on the neighborhood Haunted House at the end of the street.

I kind of like the mystery of the second one.

Perfect for an introvert who might only appear outside her door a couple of times a year. 😎🎃🏘️

1. Definitely a medium sized cottage kinda deal right on the CC Lake or river or whatever body of water we get xD!!

With an extra big porch for hosting fellowship and having friends over, a wide spacious and...

2. A well kept lawn for the kids to run around and play on - big garden out back though for sure. I would grow grapes in the spring and make wine in the fall for everyone who partakes since I miss doing that with my Nonna. I love the concept of the picket fence but also if it's the CC neighbourhood I suppose fences in general wouldn't be as necessary right? Maybe for keeping the kids/pets contained!!

3. I would want to be on the HOA if I could wear a cool uniform like that guy and send people straight to jail 😏😆 (kiddinggg - maybe)

4. Definitely going to be the modest-party central. I would love hosting people for Bible study, music sessions (there would certainly be a small band-stand outside and a studio in the basement) and BBQs/dinner/espresso after dinner/maybe some wine and antipasto? But also gotta respect the neighbours and their sleep schedules so I would make sure the house/studio were well sound proofed.

WOWZERS, @StoneLion!!!

Ok everyone, THIS is the place to crash, obviously!!! I love your welcoming, community-building attitude!! You sound like the kind of person an introvert secretly envies (and wishes they could be more like,) but just doesn't have the energy to accomplish! (Well... for me at least.)

I loved the story of how you made wine with your Nonna! I'm not a drinker but would surely make an exception to try a small bit of something in her honor. 🍷

And what a house!! I love looking at people's living spaces, both inside and out. It's kind of funny that I'm a bit scared of the water, but yet, I'm always fascinated by lake houses. 😍

I had to laugh at you wanting to be part of the HOA!! We have A LOT of unruly regular members in this community (not naming any names) 😎, so be warned!!

The funny thing about this last meme is that I live in an apartment complex on a higher-up floor -- and my neighbors have been growing corn stalks -- out of large plastic milk crates!

Another neighbor and I have been waiting all summer to see if they actually produced corn, and they indeed seem to have several healthy-looking ears in bloom!

I think they have a cat (I'm not sure) -- but I'm sure a flock of chickens can't be far behind. 🐔🐣🍗😆

Hahaha yes and everyone is more than welcome to hang out!!

I'm not a drinker really either - champagne at a wedding, wine during Christmas dinner and maybe a beer or two up at the cottage by the fire but it's few and far between I get a real excuse to share some drinks. That's the important part for me, ya know? Don't get me wrong I can have lots of fun on my own but dinner/drinks with the family in Christ is just sublime.

It is quite good and unlike most store-bought wine doesn't have sulphite (a common preservative) plus in Ontario (the province I'm from) we're famous for Ice-wine (made from grapes that are harvested about mid-winter and has an incredibly smooth/sweet flavour compared to traditional white/red) so I would love to try my hand making some of that one day!

(Sorry had to write this in two pieces)

Not going to Doxx myself but that picture is not dissimilar from the Cottage I frequent in the summers; my dream home is exactly that, but on a good strong rock foundation jutting out into the lake with a dock the kids can jump and dive off of into safe, clean water. It's a highly valid fear, respecting the water is the first step to enjoying the water but wouldn't it be nice to kick your feet up and watch the sun set on a lake, listening to the water lapping on the shore? No risk and all the reward experiencing God's creation and beauty

LOL well getting back to Nonna we raised chickens and rabbits and yes, I can confirm that corn indeed does lead to chickens. Or rather corn leads the chickens to you? It's really an egg before the hen kinda situation 😆 that meme has me laughing really hard right now!

Let me know if you ever hear Bawking from the neighbours and ask them for fresh eggs for your silence!!

Hello Kitty House

Of course.

images-46.jpg

This is one of the cabins in HKIA, where we stay at a resort

images-48.jpg

On the island by the beach! My own one is on the docks so I can go fishing outside my door. Batzmaru has a comics stand near me.
And down the lane, near the plaza, Hello Kitty has her bakery/cafe, of course.
Of course if any members on CC play the game I'd put them up in one of the cabins. There is even some in the Spooky Swamp, near Kuromi's pumpkin magic potion shop and the Haunted House.
Or maybe you'd like the ones underwater? There's a mermaidifier that makes you into a mermaid so you can breathe and swim underwater in the coral reef.

Otherwise how about living in a Hutong

villlage life...streets right outside your door, inner courtyard, bicycles and rickshaws only. Playing mahjong, and chess in the park. Every morning at sun up, doing tai chi in the park, or maybe ball room dancing in the park.
There'd be a village banquet every time someone turned 60 or 80 or got married, with roast duck/bbq pork and a 12 course meal for everyone outside. The street be lit up when Lantern Festival comes round.

I'd probably be chasing chickens around or out everyday buying food at the market. Which is on your doorstep.

I don't watch it anymore but this makes me think of a quote from South Park: "Butters join the sensation that's sweeping the nation and play World of Warcraft with us." "No I'm busy playing Hello Kitty Island Adventure!!"

This honestly looks so cute and fun I would definitely give it a try even though it's not quite my kind of game - but I did really like Palia and Stardew Valley!!

That sounds amazing! I don't know if I could live like that for the rest of my life but I would love to give it a try for a few months and experience the culture, life and especially the dancing!!

Ugh I'm getting hungry just thinking about all the fresh and cooked street food 😋

I'd take it all except for the chickens. They poop wherever they happen to be, and I don't see no yard there. They'd be pooping on the street, or maybe on the doorstep.
