In the Philippines, there's no divorce. So people are much more careful about who they pick to marry and always try to work things out so the marriage lasts.

There are some who don't care of course, but they are pretty obvious and can be avoided.

I was listening to a video about people in the Philippines (often the husbands) taking trips to other countries -- and never coming back -- because they want to get out of their marriages, but know they can't legally divorce in their own country.

I'm not trying to pick on the Philippines at all -- my ex was part Filipino. (And feel free to correct me if I'm misunderstanding.)

I just wanted to mention this because I think sometimes people can start to think that this must be the ideal way of keeping marriages together -- just like with arranged marriages.

My only point is that nothing is foolproof -- and people will find their own ways of working around divorce laws, no matter how strict.

Ooooo don't say that ! I don't believe u for one second ! I'm sure u have a lot to offer ! Cheer up , count your blessings and remember how much God loves u . All of our trials and tribulations serve a purpose . God is moulding u through your life experiences and He knows what He is doing . Trust in Him , weather the storm and come through it all a better person . I'm sure there r many ladies out there who would b proud to have u as their husband ! Let the light of love shine through u and wait for the Lord . He has plans for u ! 😁

When people say God has plans, do they mean wedding plans, or other plans? What if you don't get married, is that the B plan because the A plan was to get married?

I have various Christians keep reminding me that God has plans for me. Well where are these plans? When I read the Bible, the only plans I see are Jesus plans for going to the Kingdom of God i.e Heaven.

You need to clean the house and remember to take out the trash. She can't come home to empty pizza boxes and nothing in the fridge. Also, make your bed.

Most Filipino marriages are genuinely loving though. It doesn't get attention because that is the norm and not video worthy.

I think the problem in current Christian marriages at least in the US is commitment. Did you know the Christian divorce in the US is a higher percentage than the secular annulment/separation percentage in the Philippines?

So we should talk about what commitment means in marriage and how to make a marriage loving and devoted to make it last. Single people need to know and make it a part of their lives before they get married.

And honestly it's surprising that the Christian divorce rate is so high in the US. One of the things that God teaches is loyalty and devotion. If you can be loyal and devoted to God, you can be loyal and devoted to your (future) spouse. The Christian divorce rate is telling a very revealing story about Christians in the US.

house cleaning is on the schedule for the upcoming week. trash goes out on Sunday nights. we don't eat pizza, it's terrible around here. i wish there was a quality pizza house around. i haven't made my bed since i moved out of my parents house. the girls always do that!

I'm definitely not trying to give the US a pass in any way. I understand that divorce rates in all circles are sky high here, and I think it's because of the emphasis now on personal happiness rather than commitment or community. But that's just me.

The reason I said anything is because the Christian circles I have been in seem to look at the cultural norms in other countries and start advocating that they should be adopted here, because they assume that it will work for all cultures.

For instance, there seemed to be a push for a while for arranged marriages -- at least in the circles I was in.

And some have felt that divorce should be made illegal here as well.

Like anything else, I think there are always pros and cons that need to be approached realistically.

i reason divorce is high in America is because we all know we can have anything we want at anytime & its easy to get. we are to spoiled here. so often, also, patience is out the door, hardly any left!

? Isn't Phillipines a predominatley Catholic country though? Or am I wrong in that assumption. Holy matrimony is one of the sacraments in the Catholic church. It is a HUGE deal basically it means you need to be Catholic for life, your spouse if not already catholic has to convert to be a Catholic, and you need to pay tithes to the Catholic church because their churches require a lot of upkeep. When you die, you will have a mass requirem funeral in a Catholic church and will be buried in a Catholic graveyard.

It is the pursuit of happiness enshrined in your constitution. There are many merry widows and gay divorcees. Gay as in happy I mean.

You can have all you want but then why is it so hard to find good pizza where you are? Don't they deliver?

There's good pizza but it ain't pizza hut or domino's. You gotta hit up the local pizza place.

because shop owners don't want to spend the money on top ingredients like extra virgin olive oil, bianco & Mariano tomatoes, & Molino flour.
 
Sal's pizza? Here, Sals pizza say they get their special tomato sauces flown in from New York

Thats why their pizza is so expensive and you have to wait ages for them to deliver.

we do not make our own. awhile back, my wife decided to embrace the carnivore diet so she doesn't pizza anymore but never really liked the quality of it as i didn't either. although my mom & dad were excellent cooks, they couldn't make great tasting pizza either. now you me thinking the i should check around again for quality pizza.
 
I'm used to Hell Pizza. actually got it free because they do the book challenge thing.
Which reminds me I do need to use those as got 3 completed, you get a free snack pizza with one topping. But they do have gourmet pizza offerings, although the ingredients are probably locally produced, not flown all the way from New York or Italy.
