"Apologetic Biases:
As a Jewish aristocrat writing under the patronage of the Roman imperial Flavian dynasty (Titus and Vespasian), his narratives are often shaped to defend his own actions during the First Jewish-Roman War and cast his Roman patrons in a favorable light."

Some of what you are quoting as fact, is most likely Baloney.
Josephus overly casts the Roman army as so noble.
Most likely the romans burned it all up.
Then had Josephus under duress to make the romans look like nobelmen.
That josephus account of events looks so fake.

Do you have any historian that lived through the destruction of Jerusalem that contradicts Josephus' statements in regards to how and who burnt the Temple down?

Why does it matter?
Josephus is in question.
You are saying it is fact.

What doctrine is hanging in the balance?

The only thing I can think of concerning motive / doctrine is to make israel look like it is so pathetic that God has nothing to do with them.
Am I close?

It would have a lot to do with who the prince is in Daniel 9:26. Yes, Josephus seems to be our sole source for what happened at the destruction of the Temple. How much of it is true??? I don't know. Yes, Josephus would have a motive for favoring Titus, but then Josephus was also a Jew, and he would have a motive for defending his own heritage.

Reasons to believe that it was the Jews who burnt the temple.

One would be that "people" instead of "army" was used to describe those that would destroy the Temple.

Dan 9:26 ---and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary----.

Another reason to consider would be the fact that the prince destroys the city because of abominations of the people. Would an anti-Christ do that?

Dan 9:27 ----and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate,---

Is all that conjecture designed to support preterism?

Jhn 21:25 And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.

Has zero to do with whether the writings of Josephus are to b e accepted as being on the same level as God's Word.

They are not.

Had to look up preterism in order to understand what you were asking me. I do not like labels. I gave you two reasons why I believe the prince in Daniel 9:26 was Christ, and you did not comment on either.

Daniel 9:24 gives us six requirements for the completion of the 70th week, and Christ fulfilled all six, but it seems you prefer to take that week from Christ and give it to Satan.

Dan 9:24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.

1. To finish the transgression.

Heb 9:15 And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance. (Mat 5:17)

Rom 4:15 Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression.

Rom 10:4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.

Gal 4:5 To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.

2. To make an end of sins.

John 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

Heb 9:26 For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.

3. To make reconciliation for iniquity.

Heb 2:17 Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.

Luk 1:68 Blessed be the Lord God of Israel; for he hath visited and redeemed his people,

Gal 3:13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:

1Pe 1:18-19 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

Rev 5:9 And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;

4. To bring in everlasting righteousness.

Rom 5:21 That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.

Rom 5:18 Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.

Rom 10:4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.

Psa 119:142 Thy righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and thy law is the truth.

5. To seal up the vision and prophecy.

Jhn 19:28 After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst.

Jhn 19:30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.

6. To anoint the most Holy.

Mar 1:24 Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God.

Acts 4:27 For of a truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together,

Act 10:38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

I never said the book of Josephus was equal to the Bible, and I would never say that, but it is the most prominent history book for that era.

Wars of the Jews Josephus Book 6 paragraph 6

6. And now a certain person came running to Titus, and told him of this fire, as he was resting himself in his tent after the last battle; whereupon he rose up in great haste, and, as he was, ran to the holy house, in order to have a stop put to the fire; after him followed all his commanders, and after them followed the several legions, in great astonishment;
