Did @2ndTimeIsTheCharm mention 'the end times' in her OP?
Should the 'end times' actually be...preparing for your divorce?
Isn't marriage meant to be 'the beginning times'?

It doesn't follow logically what anyone says about 'the end times'.

Also BTW Lynx has mentioned how his parents divorced and thats his experience of marriage. Not everyone's parents had a happy marriage or stayed faithful to each other and adultery or abuse doesn't mean we are called to bondage.
There's no such thing as the 'end times' as you understand it.

Because your understanding makes no sense.

When you die, its the end time for your body,/flesh but it's the beginnng of eternity for your spiritual life.
The marriage Jesus was talking about was Israel being married to the land God had promised them all along.

He made an eternal covenant. Don't people remember this in the Bible. His chosen broke it though time and again. God was patient, He knew they'd come round and repent but He had to send Jesus to do so, to warn them and show them what it meant in terms of spiritual life and entrance into the Kingdom of Heaven.
What the Bible/God asks us to do is keep the faith, and doing the good works He prepared for us to do. Nothing more, nothing less.
Here

Key Meanings
    • Hephzibah: A Hebrew name meaning "My delight is in her".
    • Beulah: A Hebrew word meaning "married".
    • The Land Married: It signifies that the physical land of Israel will no longer lie wasted, abandoned, or cursed. Instead, it will be intimately cared for, owned, blessed, and protected by God, reflecting a joyful reunion akin to a bridegroom rejoicing over a bride. [1, 2, 3, 4]

You, in this sense, is Judah i.e Jewish people. Remember house of Israel and house of Judah - the Kingdoms had split into two. They had divorced!
Basically the Kingdoms had committed adultery with other gods, instead of staying faithful to God Almighty.

Anyway people are seemingly mixing up earthly marriage with Biblical marriage which was as God described in his covenant, which was essentially signed in BLOOD and eternal. Sacrifice is needed.

I don't know if singing to God is the worship he requires certainly churches practice this often enough, but its true in religious ceremonial weddings there is often music. You won't get that in a courthouse 'wedding'.
And dancing..and wine.

Are you going through a manic episode? I'm putting you on ignore for a while. I'm going to stay on topic in this thread.

🕊️

If the Lord has already come for people who are married, then why is it so many people are divorcing, and what about people who don't believe, or of other religions, they get married too. Being a Christian doesn't necessarily mean you must marry. Marriage isn't an exclusive thing Christians do. Hindus do it too and their weddings are way more lavish than any church wedding.

This is your train of thought:

Are you going through a manic episode? I'm putting you on ignore for a while. I'm going to stay on topic on this thread.

🕊️
No.

Thinking things doesn't mean you or I am manic. It just means I am thinking.

Too bad for you. You haven't stayed on topic for any of it. You yourself are not even looking to get married, so why post it?

All you posted on your OP is someone walking down the aisle with a microphone singing. That isn't unheard of for people to sing at weddings, though the bride doesn't usually do it that way.

I have been to a few weddings all different kinds so...?

I would say that preparing for a wedding and all the things you need for a 'big day' or week or honeymoon or whatever is quite different to building a good foundation for a life together...eg need a house or somewhere to live, job to pay for said house, working out routines, childcare, insurance etc. Making a will, changing your names, in-laws, setting up home. Lots of things.

So when people talk about 'the end times' an if marriage is not the goal, then what is.
If you not preparing for marriage, which can take years, if not months leading up to it, and then hopefully have a marriage that lasts for the rest of your life (and people can live well past 70 in this day and age if they keep in good health) then what exactly are you doing. Or is preparation going only so far as having a wedding gown/tux?

Who knows, you could get married tomorrow!

Why does everyone keep saying 'last days' as if everyone is going to die tomorrow. It's really off putting.

I'd like to think I have at least a year or a couple of months left to live.
I was directly referencing this, not 2nd Time and regardless of whether it's for prepping or not what I said is simply true: whether it's the End Times or not we must live and love and act like it is. Because that's what Jesus tells us to do several times.

In doing so we live exclusively for Christ and my argument for the relatability is that the best preparation we can make for marriage is focusing our entire life on Jesus.

All that seems about right.

Very different from how you phrased it earlier though. Sounded a lot like you were saying people who messed up can never change.

You're right and I wrote that while I was relaxing before bed so didn't put the detail into it I should have.

I will add one last thing: the person can certainly change and become better, but they can never change what they have done was more of what I meant rather than condemnation of the person, it's more condemnation to the permanent consequences.

I tried to tell you...

Lanolin is very literal and seizes on some rather abstruse facts. If I make a joke that involves... mousetraps, let's say... there is about a 31% chance she will latch onto the mousetrap part and start talking about either how she caught mice until there were no more left or how inhumane a mousetrap is, and she will totally miss the point of the joke.

You're gonna have to get used to it. Otherwise it will drive you quite crazy.

Above all you should realize and keep in mind, it is nothing personal. Lanolin ain't out to getcha or prove you wrong or something. She's just being Lanolin.

Absolutely, I understand where she is coming from but like @2ndTimeIsTheCharm was saying the thought process is nonsensical and frankly comes across either manic or (in my opinion moreso) undiagnosed AuDHD.

Nothing wrong with being that at all, but it makes following the conversation very difficult and results in "2nd wasn't talking about the end times, show me in this post where she was." When so far she has been the one pushing/asking about End times.

This thread, like many others has been derailed by hyper focus on topics that are not relevant to the nature of the thread and the OP themselves is so exhausted with this that they ignored her.

I don't have any issue with it, and certainly don't take it personally, it just makes having a proper conversation nearly impossible.

someone may say, "oh, here it comes, he's never wrong". well, if she stayed on point like anyone else is supposed to, she'd be right once in a while. you all know what i'm talking about. how many of you discussed anything with anyone & what you get in return is tommyrot talk. however, she knows more about a wide variety of this & that than i do. she's better than me at connections & modern day words having to do with computers, tv shows, & just plain modern life. i'm still a 1970's guy. no, i'm not always right about anything.

Hi Karlon, I've never met your wife or heard yall argue so I don't want to say too much. But please keep in mind that when a couple disagrees, VERY RARELY is it a case of one being 100% wrong and the other 100% right.

As the head of the household, it is your job to seriously consider your wife's point of view and adjust accordingly. No, she shouldn't run the show, but being the head does not mean you will or should always "win", regardless of her debate skills.

I'm just on the outside looking in, but the way you have described yalls "discussions" sounds very unhealthy on many levels. Hopefully that is not actuslly the case, but you owe it to her and yourself to find out. 🙏

You will not be able to fix or prevent it. You can either compain about it, leave the forum or work around it.

Working around it is the most productive choice I've found so far. I picked up the skill back in the IRC days. Focus on the people you are talking to and let the other conversations slide on by.

I agree completely, and it's not a complaint just a statement of observation.

However I don't agree it's unproductive to bring it up and continue to press this point. Certainly I wouldn't be able to fix or prevent it but the Lord surely can and The Truth will set us all free.

All I suggest is that a person reflect on and consider that they may have an undiagnosed neurodivergence so that they can properly receive the help they need to function in society at their best with the least friction. For example there are specialized school services, workplace adjustments, and professional therapies specifically for people on the spectrum to help them (and the people they work/socialize with) understand each other better.

Again as a brother in Christ who loves her, this is my primary intention, to bring the Spirit of Truth and a helpful consideration.

James 2:14-17
What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.

i assent with you that there shouldn't be a right or wrong. that's just the way i spoke it. yes, i could have chosen different words like a psychologist would have. thanks for the correction. true, i seriously consider her view, that's 1 of the reasons why i stare at her constantly, it brings to light what you just said. i assent again. look at other post of mine on this subject, its never an intimidation element. she's not scared of me at all & that's how life should be, she's very comfortable around me. your 2nd to the last statement is where the issue of not seeing the person you are talking to enters. there's a huge amount of reading into what was said that is incorrect. lots of assuming. i certainly know that we are living in an age of a high level of self protection, especially for women. so often here on CC, we all should have in mind what someone is really meaning. lets not be afraid to ask what the direct point is. it will eliminate assuming & guessing. i am hearing your words as a teaching lesson with respect. thank you.

Hi Karlon, just to clarify my comment that the discussion style you described sounded unhealthy:

If your wife is coming at you with a lot of "Tommyrot" and off-topic rambling when you are trying to have a serious conversation, that is also unhealthy, unfair to you and something she needs to work on herself.

But yes, as I stated, I've never witnessed yalls discussions and every couple has their own style of communicating. The dynamic you described would drive me absolutely insane lol 😆 but I am not Thea and yall chose each other for a reason ❤🙏.

I know you love her dearly and If I didn't think so I probably wouldn't have said anything at all. But even great marriages can always be better,

I respect your position as head of the household so IF any change is to happen you would be the ideal one to initiate it. But perhaps all is as it should be🙏. At this point it is between you, God, and your wife and I will refrain from further comment. All the best to you both! 🕊 💜

OK cool, I always wanted an older brother😁👍. But that means Imma show up at your antique shop unannounced and re-arrange some displays, critique your pricing and then demand you buy me lunch. It's how I treat all my sibs 😎😜.

For real, I know yall have a great relationship but it's possible Thea is just trying to let you in on her thought process when it seems like she is going off-topic. Women tend to take a LOT of factors into account when making a decision, like wondering what their third-grade piano teacher would think. No, its not always valid input but it's not always useless either. Obviously I'm not there to know but it's something to take into consideration if you can. Women are weird but we do know a thing or two and being heard is important 🙏.

(Yes I said I wouldn't comment further but that was before you said we could be sibs and all my sibs put up with my rambly observations, so deal widdit) 😎

1. I don't even want to know what your communist NY sales tax rate is 😜

2. If the door's not locked your business is open 😎

3. I WILL sass you, deal widdit bro 😎

4. You don't have to worry about that one, I don't waste time 🤓

5. I also I get 20% family discount on all purchases, but I will accompany you and Thea on a goods acquisition trip twice year. Old barns are my specialty. Snakes, spiders and rats are not a problem 😎.

For real, yes I do like antiques but I tend to go for everyday items that aren't worth a lot but tell a story. One of my favorites is an enamel bucket with like 4 repairs on it. Or the cracked Mason jar I found near the old cabin on our farm. Did some research and it's from the 1800s 😎.

I am in the market for an old pie safe though. I want to use it as a cabinet by the front door because there's no closet and stuff just collects there. I'll run across one eventually I'm sure 😌
