The right question is, why are so many Christians NOT single? The Lord tells you to take up your cross and follow him, he who loves his parents, spouse, kids more than him is not worthy of being his disciple.

I agree that it's best for some that they remain single. Loving God more than others doesn't mean not loving them. We're commanded to love our neighbor as ourself. Our neighbor includes those you listed and more.
"love' is THE most abused and ambiguous word in English though.
Besides, in Lk. 14:26 it actually reads HATE. That's a strong word that could be taken in the wrong way if you forgot the "honor your parents" or "husbands love your wife" clause.
If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple.(Lk. 14:26)

The false prosperity gospel of marriage bothers me. The illogical desire for marriage without a partner to begin with bothers me. These are false teachings fill good hearts with unrealistic expectations and lead people astray.
