The right question is, why are so many Christians NOT single? The Lord tells you to take up your cross and follow him, he who loves his parents, spouse, kids more than him is not worthy of being his disciple. Why are so many Christians still single?

Not sure and probably do not care. Her example resonates, and that may be because of lonely betas seeking females with low-bar expectations. Female with heartbeat and available. It sounds like she has suitors, and none of them are good enough but does she enjoy the attention? Who knows.Hi Beamrider, I'm not sure why you felt the need to warn single men here about a random woman in Western Australia who attends church, has herpes and is reluctant about committing to a mate. But if that's your prerogative then hey, knock yourself out!
Endless and vain was mentioned by you so that sounds like a negative critique.
I actually wasn't critiquing your exchange with Lovette, that's between the 2 of you. I've argued with him too, I don't judge you for that.
No, i am done.Anyways, if you really do want to have an actual discussion about the post then let me know. Just sayin I'm not really getting that vibe from ya but hey, prove me wrong!

How about consider what your landlord, your parents, your boss command first.Does the Lord command people to stay single? No. See 1 Corinthians 7:25.
How about consider what your landlord, your parents, your boss command first.
Then your wallet or your potential partner may. God didn't command you or anybody to marry either.I should put their word above what God says?
And, if you're curious, my landlord, parents, and boss have never commanded me to stay single.
That's just my experience, though.![]()
I agree that it's best for some that they remain single. Loving God more than others doesn't mean not loving them. We're commanded to love our neighbor as ourself. Our neighbor includes those you listed and more. The right question is, why are so many Christians NOT single? "love' is THE most abused and ambiguous word in English though.I agree that it's best for some that they remain single. Loving God more than others doesn't mean not loving them. We're commanded to love our neighbor as ourself. Our neighbor includes those you listed and more.
Besides, in Lk. 14:26 it actually reads HATE. That's a strong word that could be taken in the wrong way if you forgot the "honor your parents" or "husbands love your wife" clause.I agree that it's best for some that they remain single. Context is everything. Jesus is not confused.Besides, in Lk. 14:26 it actually reads HATE. That's a strong word that could be taken in the wrong way if you forgot the "honor your parents" or "husbands love your wife" clause.

The false prosperity gospel of marriage bothers me. The illogical desire for marriage without a partner to begin with bothers me. These are false teachings fill good hearts with unrealistic expectations and lead people astray. They "may"? Interesting choice of words.
Lovette, if you, personally, have no desire to marry, then just stay single. That's fine.
Does it bother you that other people have the desire to marry or decide to get married? Why? How does that affect you in any negative way?
No, but the readers may be confused, as I pointed out. "Hate" could be a trigger word.Context is everything. Jesus is not confused.
Only for those who think scripture is a melody instead of a harmony. No, but the readers may be confused, as I pointed out. "Hate" could be a trigger word.
