In Hosea 3, Hosea buys Gomer back from the slave block—a picture of price paid for redemption. In Paul's NT doctrine, that redemption is legally codified: Christ didn't just pay a ransom price; He fulfilled and terminated the strict legal constraints of the Law of Moses that kept the divorced wife bound.
