There had been cautionary tales of heroes being separated from the love of God due to their bad marriage or dalliance. From Samson to Solomon to Aham.
Or how about him marrying foreign wives who brought in their own gods. Same as Ahab and Jazabel. ANd many other Israel kings.Let's look at Solomon as one example here. He disobeyed God's word in Deutronomy 17:17, which says that the king must not acquire many wives.
As far as the others (and also Solomon), there are many scriptures in the OT that warn not to intermarry with the nations of the land. If they had married as God intends, things would have been different.
Disobedience to God, not marriage, is what separated them from the love of God!
I was tuaght that you shall not covet, envy is a deadly sin, and desiring what's unattainable will only turn you into a sour grape, a torture you brought unto yourself. Go for your own marriage if you adore it so much, have a nice day.But are they the only examples we have in the Bible about marriage?

I don't see how there could be a godly marriage when you don't know whether your partner is godly, you're not even sure whether yourself is truly godly, and you date in an ungodly way by following your own lustful desires. Yes marriage can be godly when the couple is equally yoked in Christ, but there's rare exception not the rule. Just because you put a "godly" label on something doesn't make it truly godly. They disobeyed God. The disobedience turned them away. God said that marrying into heathen nations would do that. Godly marriage does not turn people away from God. If anything, it should bring two people even closer to God...if they do it right.

I think maybe you've already turned into that sour grape. Just think of all the fun things you could be doing other than berating other christian singles for having a more positive and hopeful outlook than you do.I was tuaght that you shall not covet, envy is a deadly sin, and desiring what's unattainable will only turn you into a sour grape, a torture you brought unto yourself. Why would you date in the first place if not for your lustful desires? In other word, hormones?Who says I've followed lustful desires whilst dating?
Or anyone else here. One would have to go around on all our dates and be privy to all our relationships to know this.
Why would anyone want marriage if not for seeing others' marriage and following what they're doing?Nowhere in the Bible is marriage or the desire for marriage called sinful or covetous.
And of course it's possible to desire something in general without being envious.
As a Christian, the positive and hopeful outlook is for the return of the Lord, for the resurrection, and the eternal union with him, where there'll be no marriage or giving in to marriage. Earthly marriage is only temporary for this passing mortal life living in the world system.I think maybe you've already turned into that sour grape. Sour grape or not, if I were married, I'd never know the Lord in the first place. You can't have two masters.
Good, that's why I don't bother it.Oh my lolol. I've certainly never dated for that purpose. And there's so much more to being in a relationship than lust. Companionship and warmth (and I don't mean warmth in a lustful way) are much more important to me. If a relationship is only about lustful desires, then count me out.
You know that rich young ruler? If he were living in our time, and asked "how to inherit eternal life", pastors, parishioners and Christian influencers would tell him to go get married and have babies. You sound just like one of them. One can be married and raise a family and still be in a strong fellowship with God.
One does one negate the other.
I agree with your point that modern marriages have been highly romanticized by music, books and Hollywood, marriage is also a very functional institution but
you are going a little too far against marriage which was instituted by God, btw.
Children are a blessing from God and they are the central part of marriage.
And I am not saying that if a couple cannot have children or they married to old it is wrong because they cannot have children.
but rather that the ideal role of marriage is family and fellowship as a unit.

Thanks, I'm not a drug addict. If I take a pill, bitter or not, I intend for some medication. As they say ......
Bitterness is the pill one swallows thinking the other person will die.

Also, yes, marriage is established by God, but that was in the beginning BEFORE the fall of humanity. Lord Jesus acknowledge that, "In the beginning it was not so." In other words, we're not in Kansas anymore. And yes, marriage is a blessing in principle, but in modern urban economy, the cost of marriage has far surpassed its benefits, especially if you happen to marry someone who uses the marriage to promote herself and her own brand - including many so called "Christian" influencers.
So call me bitter if you like, I'm just being truthful and realistic.
