Hey Everyone!!

So I was trying a new instant noodle bowl (ah, the exciting life of a CC single!,) and it came with not 1, but 3 different packets of additions -- one packet of dried veggies (amounting only to a pile of about the size of an American quarter, bah humbug!), one for the stir-fry sauce, and one... suspiciously labeled, "Dragon Tears."

Now, I'm not keen to the world of hot sauces (or sauces in general,) but apparently it was something like this:

1790871473985.png

There was no way I was just going to just automatically pour this onto my food -- I admire all the "adventurous" eaters out there -- but I am not one of them. But I did, however, dutifully cut open the packet -- daring to try just the tiniest little taste...

And yes.

I have no doubt that this stuff could make a dragon cry!!! 🐲

Thank goodness the name was a warning right off the bat, am I right? 🤯

I mean, if this stuff would have been called, "Lambie Kisses," I might have been deceived and just dumped in the whole thing into the bowl!! 🐑😆

What about you?

* Have you ever known you were in for a doozie, even just by reading a product's name?

* Have you ever been deceived by a product's name, appearance, or color? (I remember as a kid, when I first tried mint jelly, since it was green -- for some reason, I thought it was going to taste like limes, because I thought mint seemed way too outlandish for a jelly flavor!)

* Do you often pass by certain products just because of their name and/or description? (I tend to dislike anything with a "musk" scent, so I avoid this in fragrances, candles, hand soaps, etc.)

* And on the flipside -- have you ever been doubtful of a product, but picked up anyway -- and found yourself pleasantly surprised instead? Or are you sometimes drawn to products just BECAUSE of their name or color? How did it go? (I admit, I can be a sucker for cleverly named products, depending on what they are.)

I've always thought marketing must be an interesting career -- especially when choosing the names, appearances, and presentation of products.

What have YOUR experiences been with questionably named things?

Inquiring minds want to know! 😆

Well I still haven't tried a can of liquid death, not even the one that they say is just water. Now that might be because I usually drink tap water, but.....

I'm reminded of a time when I was 17. The parents of my high school bf took us to a country restaurant that wasn't near any homes, or anything really. They had good food though. Anyway, out in the country, folks often can peppers. Sweet peppers, mild peppers, hot peppers, really hot peppers, and diabolical peppers. They often don't label stuff, they just know what it is.
When I was 17, I was really into hot stuff. So, we're at this country restaurant and there is a jar of whole little peppers in the middle of the table. My high school bf jokingly told me to try one. I tried one. I kept a smile on my face even though it felt like someone lit up my mouth on fire. I acted like everything was perfectly fine. His dad gave him a stern look and said, "Son, you try one." He wouldn't try one and his dad gave him an aggravated look. I guess it was supposed to be manly or something of him to try one, it wasn't a good look that I had tried one lol.

I can't help it that us Chieftesses have these sorts of powers lol (the power to act like we aren't suffering, that is lol).

Strepsils cough lozenges make me drunk. They have alcohol in them!

We have some American (USA) products like this that also contain alcohol (ethanol.)

Although I AM sensitive to alcohol, I haven't had a noticeable problem with Nyquil or anything I've taken.

I rarely take any kind of medicine though, not even for headaches if I can help it.

When I was growing up, there was a concern about Reye Syndrome (associated with giving children aspirin,) so my Mom wouldn't give us anything when we complained of pain unless it felt like we were dying.

The REAL problem I have is with anything containing caffeine, which a lot of our over-the-counter medicines have.

Even if it's some kind of coffee-flavored thing that uses real coffee, it can send my heart racing.

Also the Ribena controversy.....

This was interesting -- I had to look it up.

So apparently, this product at one time claimed to provide a high daily percentage of vitamin C. In 2004, two 14-year-old schoolgirls conducted a science project and found that it barely contains any vitamin C at all.

The company brushed it off (what do kids know!), but thankfully, the girls pursued it -- leading to a fine for the company -- and mandated advertising that corrected the claim of having high vitamin C.

Lol!

When I first saw Liquid Death in the store, I figured it was just another high-flying energy drink...

But apparently, it's just water.

Why they have to put it in fancy, printed cans that must make it cost a bundle compared to tap water -- and people actually fall for it -- I don't know.

Ok... So apparently there ARE some energy versions...

And I guess their slogan is "Murder Your Thirst," hence the name Liquid Death.

I'll stick with filter tap water (much cheaper.)

I've heard of "ghost peppers" but "diabolical peppers" DEFINITELY needs to be its own class!!

Your boyfriend's dad sounded REALLY disappointed that you showed more manly action than his son! 😆

It's like how the X-men's powers start to emerge during a stressful situation -- those peppers were just starting to coax out your incredible Chieftess Powers. 😎

I remember when Pizza Hut came out with some jalapeno pepper pizza... I have a family member who loves hot things...

So there he was, eating this hot pepper pizza, sitting in a booth with a sunny window right nest to him -- and he was sweating bullets. Lol!

No thank you! 😆 Why he didn't move to a different seat, I don't know.

Sometimes I buy California Rolls and while I love the pickled ginger it comes with, I'll leave the wasabi ("Green Paste of Death") for someone with stronger tastebuds than me!

Hell's Pizza

Muslims won't eat it (not Halal) and some Christians won't either. Jews definitely would not eat it.

I've eaten Hell's Pizza and survived.

It had a lot of sugar. Accounting for all the 'energy' boost you got when you drank it.

I now avoid the stuff. It caused no ends of problems for children. Sugar drinks are supposedly banned in schools, but that does not stop some schools from selling...'juicies' who's plastic wrappers ended up polluting the playground....AND library.

There is currently a tiny jar of crystal clear liquid labeled "blasting sauce." I'm not even trying it. I'm allergic to pain.

Another one is garlic jelly. Yeah, sweetened, jellied garlic. It tasted just like you imagine it tastes. It went in the trash.

You can find some rather interesting things at the salvage grocery, things you won't find at Walmart. Did you know cashew is a fruit? I found a bottle of cashew juice. It was all sour, no sweet at all.

I also found a single jar of "Wicked Good caramel mustard sauce." Had to try it. It really was wicked good.

and it all tastes nasty too. (although that could just be a side effect of drinking about 40 during an all nighter at camp once.)
Edit: Yes, I too was young once. I have many stories.

I also don't drink coffee of any kind. It tastes nasty to me. I tried a bit, watered down with about 1 part coffee, 2 parts milk, and 1 part sugar, and the same nasty coffee flavour was still there.
that comes from once when I drank the equivalent of about 18-26 coffees, for the total of 2000mg of caffeine. let me tell you, never do. that was the worst 14 hours of my life, and I'm pretty sure I damaged myself pretty solid with that stunt (I can no longer eat spicy foods like cumin or certain peppers, or ginger, or.... the list goes on.). 🤣 🤣 🤣 Anyway, I can no longer handle the taste of coffee, and the smell, I can but only to avoid offending people.
