And man's curse was to work by the sweat of his brow. We can avoid that by laying around all day chugging two liters and playing video games.

Try it for a year and tell me how well that works out for you.
That's the advantage for women in this era. A man can't circumvent his curse, a woman can circumvent hers.

God cursed the serpent and the ground, so you would be incorrect.

Child birth is not a curse, it is the most beautiful moment a woman can experience, in spite of the pain, and what you are saying does not come from a good place.

Also, interestingly enough, it seem that, even before the Fall, there would have been some pain in childbirth. When God said, “I will greatly multiply your pain in childbirth” the text uses a Hebrew word meaning “to increase.” So the pain of childbirth would be more than before.

Call it whatever you like to sweeten the deal, man. Maybe you have a different definition for "beautiful", I don't see how slicing open the abdomen and pulling out a gooey alien like creature is "beautiful". And often times that is unnecessary, but performed anyway due to efficiency.

Interesting insight.
Some level of pain is a blessing. Just like bitterness in some fruit, vegetables are good taste to some people.

Multiplied or not, it's a conscious choice. Man's fate cannot be avoided, woman's can.

Sad.
Not sure how this is allowed on Christian chat board.

And yet many women still desire marriage, still desire children, and are willing to take action to make these dreams come true, despite the momentary pains of childbirth.

Do you view these women as naive or deluded?

That is just the sad truth. You can sanitize it as "beautiful", but real childbirth is not for the faith of heart.

Look, if "curse" is incorrect, which I admit, call it fate then. The difference is though, man's fate cannot be avoided, all men have to work and die; woman's can if one chooses to not get married and have kids.

No, I view them as submitting to men's desire, that's the deal. Isn't that exactly what the bible teaches? Submit to your husband?

Do you also see the time when Jesus, your Savior, was born from the womb of a human woman... so grotesque?

Have you ever considered that your worldview that you bring to the Bible has been shaped by something ungodly and unbiblical? It's a good thing you want to stay single because no decent christian parent would want you marrying their kid after hearing you talk like that.

Was he born of C-section?

So you approve of natural births, but not the times when a C-section might be required?

(I do agree that it seems sometimes C-sections might be performed too hastily, but I don't see childbirth, however it happens, as being any less beautiful or miraculous from God.)

Yes, it's overmedication. When it's required, it's not beautiful. And surely it's painless during the surgery, which is kind of contrary to Gen. 3:16, isn't it.

"Your desire shall be toward/for your husband's," that's the word of God, it's all about the men's desire, right?

Another way to translate this verse is “toward your husband your desire.” In Hebrew, there's no verb here. This judgment is predictive, so the translators added the future-tense verb “will be," for clarity.

So, because of the curse, men and women now experience conflict, rather than perfect harmony. In the Garden of Eden, there was harmony. After the Fall, there's a power struggle. (The NLT translates it to “You will desire to control your husband, but he will rule over you.”)

Also, this judgment is merely describing what takes place after Adam and Eve sinned. God says that, because of their sin, men and women will live in conflict and their relationship will involve challenges and problems. There's no command here for men to "dominate" women or whatever.

For the more "Christlike" portrait of what marriage should be, see Ephesians 5.

I don't think childbirth, when looked on from a purely visual perspective, is particularly beautiful, no matter how it's done. Spiritually and emotionally yes, but from a physical observation, probably not so much.

And I think any woman who's had a C-section (I've known several) will let you know that it was not, in fact, painless.

Let's cut your abdomen open, pull something out, and you can come back and tell us how painless your recovery was. (The Bible doesn't say the pain from childbirth couldn't be temporarily numbed -- and that's not an escape. The aftermath is still very painful.)

Case in point.

I've never been pregnant, and have never birthed or C-sectioned a child.

However, my appendix burst when I was younger -- they took it out -- and I can tell you, having your abdomen, or anything else sliced open for ANY reason is not a thoroughly painless procedure.

I honestly don't think you're as naive or sheltered as you seem to pretend to be, but it seems you like the attention, so maybe all the interaction you get here is helping you in some way.

Apparently you've never had surgery or been cut open for any reason, which is a blessing.

But I can't think of anyone in their right mind who wouldn't be able to understand why having the body cut open is most definitely not painless.
