Yeah, I can't see the point of theology if we're not trying to be in unity, like God wants.
Okay, doctrine can be a useful support for faith, but it's always going to be a place of contention, by definition. So we have to behave right to not deny the truth of it all, the Lord Jesus Christ.
Debates on doctrine are for some, not for all. And there's plenty of us who, looking to the scriptures alone, or scriptures alongside revelation, who like to look at a Bible discussion but if there's no human side, it's just sounding brass and cymbals.
I guess it just pays to know yourself.

There are four supports to faith. Scripture, doctrine, tradition and your personal experience...
Only two of these are pure never-changing truth if you know your God:
scripture and your personal relationship (this includes revelation).
Doctrine can be true or not true. And tradition... I would not give you 2 cents for.
