My earlist memory that I remember really well was my mom helping me learn how to sew a little black and white checked apron. I was probably around 4 or 5. Sadly, I can only barely sew. But one day, I'll be fantastic. Or at least, that's my hope.

For some bizarre reason, I have a lot of memories from ages 3-4. They are very clear, and I find them terribly amusing to look back on. I was a very pensive little kid, and some of the conclusions I came to that made perfect sense to me at the time were hilariously ill-conceived. It makes me wonder if that's what it will be like in heaven, when we know as we are known, and realize just how ridiculously inadequate our understanding here on earth was...............Anyway, I think my earliest memory was of eating a spaghetti squash. I was assured that it would taste like spaghetti. It did not. I was sorely disappointed.

To all: What is your first clear memory?

I can remember being a baby sitting in my crib in the morning, quietly playing with one of those plastic activity center things hanging inside it. That, and peeling wallpaper off my wall from inside the crib.

I can remember loads from being 3, 4, and 5 too. I can even remember some of my thoughts at those young ages.

It's kept alive my awareness that children are often smarter than adults give them credit for.

In response to Seoul from a few pages back, I was a morning person who turned into a night person, and has since become an all day and all night person... What does that mean? ...sleep-deprivation...lol

I am from Washington State, the west side, the Puget Sound, been here all my life but for four years, on the east side of the state getting a B.A . degree in Spokane.

To all- Tell me about a situation where God used something/someone very "unconventionally" to teach you something.

One time I brought home a guy who walked the streets all the time of where I lived. I talked to him about God and how God couid change his life. He was schizophrenic think you call it, he talked to himself all the time, blaming this person named 'Schmidty' for everything. He sometimes could focus on what I was saying but always reverted into this talkative antisocial state after awhile. I , on the third day of having him in my home, asked him to go to church. He said yes and I thanked God and prayed that this could be the time He could see Jesus and maybe get the 'Schmidty' voice talking to out of him.
At church, things went well the first half your as he listened to my pastor. But then suddenly he just bolted upright and walked out of the sanctuary and outside. I think he bolted when my pastor started talking about accepting Christ.

I , at this point, did think he was in demon possession and prayed for it to leave. At this point, he pretty much was talking uncontrollably and he was not listening to anything I said and just left me . I still.see him walking the streets, one day, the Lord leads, I will ask him.if he remembers me. I hope and pray I did sone good but then I learned that my praying, and, talking , at great lengths for someone to accept Christ was something I could not do and, though praying, God did not have me do it.

Julieannie - what makes you think you want to become police officer and not police chief?

I would make a terrible chief. Most important I'm not a politician, I don't kiss butt well and I wouldn't have the time to dedicate to the things I really love. I like direct contact with people. I like looking for what most people will never see. I love puzzles. I love the quest. I love bad guys not getting away with it.

Actually though, I've been thinking more along the lines of teaching. We'll see.

I was going to say that and now you said it. First off, I think you would make a great chief after first being a great police detective, julieannie.

Ok, you say you want to go back to being a cop. But what iLife that wasn't't a choice, what if it was teach at a police academy or become a police chief, which would yoy prefer ?

/like relselena's , but not in a good way. I must have been 2 or 3 years old , but I remember my mom.putting me in the sleeping area under the crib and then she would put the crib 'cage' door down and I can remember thinking I was trapped, horrible feeling, and, it was true.

My answer would absolutely be teaching at an academy. No contest. No way can I ever imagine wanting to be chief of a department, especially a large one. Politics is the one aspect of law enforcement I dislike, especially those who feel they deserve special favors or that they are above the law because of who they THINK they are. I’ve seen money and power keep a lot of people out of jail who could have benefitted from spending time there and I’ve seen some go to jail simply because of who they are, and few people cared.

I want to be on the side that locks it all down. When some who are guilty go free they appreciate it, learn from it and never repeat the process, but others only learn to work the system and do far worse things each time. And sometimes the innocent pay for the crimes of others. When either of these things happen, the guilty are free to do the same thing to others and themselves time and time again.
