Jules!!! I was never good at anything in school, i wasnt popular i didnt have anything goin for me. In 5th grade my teacher openly called me stupid and had me tested for ADD, i went in for testing and sure enough i was diagnosed and medicated within a few short weeks. My parents got me all kinds of tutors and all that to try and make school easier for me. It didnt though even with tutors i was still barely passing. However my history tutor said there was something about my recollection of dates and events that wasnt right. So she had me go to a university for testing when i was about 14. When the test came back i had scored off the charts, but only in history and reading comprehension. my parents pulled me out of school because at this time my teachers were saying i was mentally retarded! So my dad homeschooled me. I dunno if this was right or not, but he really just taught me history reading and writing. He would take me to all kinds of museums, because he himself had a love for history. He bought me tons of books to read and study, and thats what i grew up doing.
If it hadnt been for that tutor, i dunno what i would be doing right now. She made me feel like i was smart. I hold on to history because something about it just clicks with me, i just get it. It fascinates me, but im not even sure why. We dont give those who came before us enough credit, instead we make up theorys of crazy theorys, Why cant it just be accepted, they may infact have been smarter than us.

ADD people rock! Don't listen to people who call you stupid. People like us just learn differently.

If someone calls ya stupid, then later draw a silly cartoon of you kicking them in the butt, then giggle at it. Then secretly think of that pic the next time they make ya feel bad. Teehee.

Seoul - The bulk of my beard took about 1 year. This month is year number two though, and still growing, haha. I actually never intended to grow one. I went to shave one day, didn't feel like it, so, two years later, i still don't feel like shaving, haha.

Green - In some ways. I was born with self esteem issues. As young as four years old i can remember feeling like i was less than others around me. Then i stopped eating, and spent a year in four hospitals having every test they could think of. No one came up with an answer. Eventually i gradually came out of it. A few years after that my mom started having health problems, so i watched her deal with various issues from the time i was about 8-9 til she died when i was 20. Listening to her throw up regularly, be depressed, have fits of rage over her frustration with illness, hospital visits, surgeries, and plenty more to deal with, watching her. Once i hit 14 i got saved, but also fell into a strong depression that still is with me, just not as strong over the past few years. Over the years as a teen i had some problems with paranoia, anger, bitterness, fear and some addiction issues. I never received professional help, or rarely told anyone of most of it for that matter. I kept it to myself, except for writing as my personal therapy. By my late teens i slept with a large knife under my pillow and had visions of slitting my wrists. Well, i guess that gives a general idea of my growing up.

Answer to the pet question:
I have two dogs: a silver husky (female=Missy) and a softcoated wheaten terrier (male=Max). Both are rescued dogs. Would like to have more, but it's not a good idea. I also have a huge fish tank.

Ok, I have a question.... WHO'S UP FOR A FISH FRY AT JULLIANNA'S HOUSE NEXT WEEKEND??? (You bring the poles and net... I'll bring the tartar sauce.)

I am just kidding! I love fish tanks. Though I used to tease a friend of mine that I was going feed his plescostomus fish (which has a round mouth) things like peas or marbles just to see what they did with them... (Again, I am just kidding--I am not into animal cruelty at all... However, I AM into jokingly egging my friends on. )

I find politics to be terribly confusing. Have you ever worked for someone whom you thought stood for one thing that you believe in, but later you found that either they did not really stand for what you thought, or supposedly changed their view to something you oppose? How did you handle the situation, and did you continue to work for their campaign?

I was just thinking about things such as abortion, gay marriages, etc... As Christians... what do we do when choosing our political leaders, especially if they are ambiguous, unclear on certain topics, or pull a 180 in their supposed stances?

LOL Actually, Kim, peas are sometimes good for fish. There's a sickness they get that causes them to retain air and float upside down. If not relieved, they will eventually weaken and die. Feeding them peas helps this. My pleco is HUGE now! He was about 3-4 inches long when I brought him home. He's about 7 inches long now. His name is Dave (after a lawyer I don't like...get it? a bottomfeeder named after a lawyer I don't like? )

I would love to tell this, but I am wondering if putting it here is the right thing to do. Have you ever poured your heart out in a long post and then it just gets ignored? Thats one of the things I am afraid of because its not a very exciting story at all. The other reason is that people might scoff at it because a big part of it has to do with catholic stuff.

I understand, although I promise I wouldn't scoff at or ignore it . Anything God wants to use to draw us to Jesus is OK in my book! His ways are perfect........But, I know what you mean about pouring your heart out in a public post. I have a hard time doing that too, unless I really feel like God wants me to. Good question. Here is what I fave found. More often than not candidates will stand exactly how they say they will stand on the issues. Despite what the national news may say, the the state and local level (with which I have been more involved) have a pretty good crop of men and women who stand where they say they will while in office.

More often than not, it is the personal life issues. Politicians are fallen like the rest of us and sometimes they turn out to be unrighteous in their personal conduct.

I have continued to work for them simply because they are better than the alternative. It is sad, but candidates like them make the ones you would go all the way for seem that much more important. There is one in particular that I know I would take a bullet for given the chance.

If you're asking how I got the idea of him, these things just come to me at random. I usually "see" my projects in advance, sometimes they rattle around in my head for years before I let them out. But, when the time is right, I always know exactly how to put them together. I guess it's a gift, and I'm curious if other artistically-inclined members experience the same thing. BTW, I loved your "How we met" story

As for books, there are a few good places to start. You're already reading the Bible I'm assuming. That is important for understanding human nature and God's relationship with man. Next I would suggest Conscience of a Conservative by Barry Goldwater (ghost written by Brent Bozell) as it is quite short and gives an interesting overview of the ideologies dominant today.

A political point of view starts with a philosophical point of view (or at least it should). My suggestion is that you read about issues and history that appeals to you, gather names from these books. Read what those ladies and gentleman have written, and before you know it you have an informed opinion.

To all- Tell me about a situation where God used something/someone very "unconventionally" to teach you something.

As a young, shy christian it was difficult for me to approach some people to talk about the Lord. One day at a funeral I saw a man who had scared the daylights out of me a few times and God put it on my heart to write him a very simple anonymous letter:

"Dear *: I just wanted you to know that Jesus loves you. (signed) A Servant of the Lord, Jesus Christ"

Later on, that man turned out to be my Lt. And a couple of years after that, he and his wife came walking into my church. I started bawling my eyes out.

I had lunch with him later on and he mentioned the letter as being the point where he became curious about God. After the way he'd grown up and the type of person he'd been, he didn't think there was any way God would be interested in him. I finally fessed up to writing the letter. I think he already knew, but he just smiled.

I learned to NEVER count anyone out, to never withhold testimony or the Word of God, that our words have power, and that those others so quickly write off have amazing testimonies and can be powerhouses for God.

Thank you do much! I've only recently become interested in knowing anything at all about politics but have found it all rather overwhelming. I do prefer to make informed decisions with most everything. lol I really appreciate it.
