The natural man has no desire to know spiritual things and indeed he cannot know them 1 Cor 2:14.

John14:26 But the Comforter, [which is] the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

John16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, [that] shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

The Holy Spirit can not teach the natural man about spiritual things, they are foolishness unto him 1Cor 2:14. The Holy Spirit teaches those of whom he dwells within. He does not dwell within the natural man. One must be born of the Spirit (new birth) before he can descern spiritual things.

Any man can have a desire to know God. As he learns, he can believe, and after he believes, he receives the gift of holy spirit.

Rom 10:17) So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

We were all at one time but natural men. When we are born a natural birth into this world we were born without any righteousness. Eph 2:2-3, Wherein in times past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience; Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh, and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. Yopu will never understand the grace of God until you understand the depravity of man.

Not according to 1 Cor 2:14. Faith is a fruit of the Spirit and we cannot have faith until we first have the Spirit. Our faith, once God has given it to us through the new birth, grows as we hear the word. The new law of Christ is written not in tables of stone, but fleshly tables of the heart 2 Cor 3:3, and when we hear the word and it corresponds with what is written our hearts we have joy. 1 Pet 2:2, As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby.

I see you're now misinterpreting a couple other scripture and dragging them into your misguided doctrine.

God requires believing to be saved, Forest.

If eternal salvation requires our believing to be saved, then it is a salvation by works. Work, in Webester's dictionary says, "in theology is any moral act distingueshed from faith", and faith is belief. No matter how you look at it, Shroom, you promote eternal salvation by works. and not grace.

Salvation is not by works. It's by the grace of God. We appropriate it to ourselves when we believe.

If the Holy Spirit would ever open up your deaf ears and blind eyes to see the difference in the salvation scriptures you could have a more fulfilled life. You shall know the truth and the truth will make you free (from your bondage of your dependence upon your good works for eternal salvation).

The holy spirit cannot "open my eyes" to see as you do, Forest, because it's wrong. You are blinded by Calvinism, and cannot see that God loves all men, and wants them all to be saved by choosing to believe on His Son. You are the one in bondage to error.

I know that you don't believe Thayer's Greek lexicon, but now you don't believe the Webester's dictionary.

And you do not believe the bible, at least on how a person is saved. Rom 10:9

Shroom, you have difficulty making the scriptures harmonise. There are too many scriptures that you do not have an explaination for. Believing is a work of man and that is your false doctrine. I have explained Rom 10 several times to you that harmonises with the doctrine of Christ which is the doctrine of limmited atonement.l
