Notice also it says we are not sufficient of ourselves but our sufficiency is of God.

Notice also that it says the Letter Kills but the Spirit Gives Life.

Notice also that it calls the Law the Ministration of Death and the Ministration of Condemnation.

Notice also that the Ministration of the Spirit is the Ministration of Righteousness.

Notice also that where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is Liberty.
Ok let’s actually read and understand what Paul is saying in 2 Corinthians 3. Instead of using it to our own profit let us acknowledge what he actually says instead of manipulating it to justify sin.
2Co 3:1 Do we begin again to commend ourselves? or need we, as some others, epistles of commendation to you, or letters of commendation from you?
2Co 3:2 Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men:
2Co 3:3 Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart.

First thing we notice here is that Paul talks about letters of commendation. Then he turns to the fact that the Corinthian are a letter “written in our hearts.” Then in verse 3 Paul breaks down exactly what he means by this.
You are a letter written about Christ not with ink on paper but by the Spirit of God.
What does God write?

Answer: not on tables of stone/Ten Commandments. But on the tables of the heart.

Ok Paul just said that instead of a lifeless letter written with Ink, he says that the Corinthian’s are living letters of Righteousness written on their hearts by God.
With this in mind lets continue with Paul’s argument.

2Co 3:4 And such trust have we through Christ to God-ward:

Paul says he has confidence of God for this is through Christ.

2Co 3:5 Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God;

Hear he reiterates this by saying that it is not of us but of God. In other words the righteousness of the law in the heart comes from God not from man. Righteousness by faith.

2Co 3:6 Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.

Notice that he now says that God has made them ministers of the new covenant. Not of the letter but of the Spirit. Remember context, Paul has just said that the Spirit writes the 10 commandments on the heart. In fact that is the new covenant.

Heb 8:10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:

Eze 36:26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.
Eze 36:27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.

So Paul makes it clear that the Spirit confirms the New Covenant by writing the 10 commandments on our hearts and in our minds that we become living letters for Christ.

What els did he say in this verse:

”for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.”
Ok we know that the Spirit confirms the law on our hearts so what is this letter that killeth?

Answer:
Remember he has been just talking about the letters from them as opposed to living letters from God on the heart. So here the letter would be the law without the Spirit. In other words works of the law as opposed to law of faith. Or Mans works vs Gods works in us.
We know that he is contrasting the law as the letter by the next verse:

2Co 3:7 But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away:

Notice “written and engraved in stones,” remember that He has said in verse 3 that this same letter on stone is written on our hearts now by God/Spirit. Why was the Glory of the letter/law on stone to be done away?

Jer 31:31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:
Jer 31:32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD:
Jer 31:33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.

Answer: The Law on stone was to be replaced by the same law put by God on our hearts and minds.

2Co 3:8 How shall not the ministration of the spirit be rather glorious?

So the Law on the heart is more Glorious than the law on Stone because it is in Gods people and they obey and are living examples of the law. Paul said this of the gentiles who even when they don’t have the law still live according to the law in their hearts and thusthey become the law to others.

Rom 2:14 For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:
Rom 2:15 Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts…
Notice the Law is written where? On their hearts.

2Co 3:9 For if the ministration of condemnation be glory, much more doth the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory.

Notice what exceeds in Glory?

Answer: the ministration of righteousness.

Paul has just said the the ministration of condemnation had glory/Ten Commandments on stone. But the ministration of Righteousness has exceeding Glory/Ten commandments written on our heart by God.

David knew what Righteousness was:

Psa 119:172 My tongue shall speak of thy word: for all thy commandments are righteousness.

2Co 3:10 For even that which was made glorious had no glory in this respect, by reason of the glory that excelleth.
2Co 3:11 For if that which is done away was glorious, much more that which remaineth is glorious.
2Co 3:12 Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech:

Again reiterating the same point he has just made. As shown in Jeremiah the former glory of the letter of stone passed away and was replaced by the same letter on our hearts.

2Co 3:13 And not as Moses, which put a vail over his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished:
2Co 3:14 But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ.
2Co 3:15 But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart.

Now this is important. Paul is trying to make a point about the Jewish people here. How they are unable to perceive the old covenant just as they were unable to look upon the face of mosses. So they could not see that the new covenant is the law on the heart and not by their own works. They were unable to see that the Old covenant was in Faith of the New Covenant. Old was the law on stone New is the Law in our hearts by God. Yet it was not the actual law that was the problem. For if it was God would not have written it on the heart but notice that the vial is on their heart so that they were unable to accept the truth of the new Covenant and thus have the law put in their hearts.

2Co 3:16 Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away.

But If they look to God they Shall be able to see clearly.

2Co 3:17 Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
Notice the Lord is the Spirit and the Spirit is Liberty. Remember what Paul has been saying all along that the Spirit writes the law on our heart. So in other words Paul is saying that the Law of God on our hearts written by God brings liberty.
See what James says on this matter:

Jas 1:25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

And again he says speaking of the 10 commandments:

Jas 2:8 If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well:

Jas 2:9 But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors.
Jas 2:10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.
Jas 2:11 For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law.
Jas 2:12 So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty.

So Paul and James are in agreement that obedience to Gods 10 commandments brings freedom. But only by faith through the Spirit.

Now let’s see Paul finish with a punch.

2Co 3:18 But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

Ok remember he talked about looking to the lord takes the vail away so we can see clearly. So with open face we behold in a mirror the glory of the lord. What is this mirror?

James said it is the Law.
Jas 1:23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:
Jas 1:24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.
Jas 1:25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

So we look to the law and see the Glory of the Lord/His righteousness. And are changed into that same image by who?
“even as by the Spirit of the Lord.”

So in conclusion. Paul is clearly teaching that by accepting the Holy Spirit the Law is written in our hearts and we become obedient to the law and are thus free from condemnation. This is only possible because of the blood of Christ in the new Covenant.

Blessings.

Thanks for the reply.

I still don't understand how could Sabbath be the Lord's prayer. Is it there in the Bible? I don't see the rest is the Lord's prayer. We will rest from all our works when we go to the Lord in heaven, that means the Lord would be still praying for us or how? I am sorry, I don't understand.
Hi Abishai; If one is wittnessing or just going about everday life, we encounter a variety of people that we are not in agreement with. This can cause us to have unclean thoughts about a fellow child of The Living GOD YAH.

Whether we are aware of it consciously or not, chances are some such thought has passed through our minds at one point or another throughout the day, or even worse, came out of our mouth/church.

This is what dirties our spirits, and it is important to stay clean in our spirit, once we know the truth.

The Lords Prayer is a Prayer of Thanks, NOT a Prayer of Repentance, in that Christ gave His Life for the forgiveness of these sins in advance  So that we now thank Him daily for the forgiveness of these sins that WE ALL encounter daily, NOT ask for repentance all over again, because then one would be guilty of doubting His forgiveness.

We are in need of re-repentance, when we lose control of our mouths/churchs, and spiritualy rip into someone with words; thats the example that you wrote about reguarding the horse and the ass's mouth being in need of bits & bridles; WE need them as well, spiritualy if we are going to be witness's, or you could end up spiritually biting people and find yourself in need of repentance everyday; and thats NOT cool.

When we prejudise other people with our words or thoughts, outside of The Truth of the FACT that WE are ALL children of The Living God, then we are guilty of a greater sin than that of a sin one puts into their mouth/church.

This kind of sin, out of our mouth/church, IS the type of sin that you cannot just thank Him for forgiveness for; but one needs to confess their sin to Him FIRST and then thank Him, as you are guilty of hurting and judging one of HIS children.

Its also NOT cool to go around behaving like this for 6 days, and then on the 7th day act like you are innocent  thats religion for ya :p

Christianity IS Reality, NOT a Beleif, and it is Full-Time, NOT Part-Time.

You can find The Lords Prayer in Mattew Ch:6/ 9, and the Sabbath/Rest thats in it, IS for the Spirit, not the physical body, though we need that also :D

And after all, who in their right mind would refuse to witness to a lost sheep, just because its saturday or sunday? No a real witness would EVER miss such an opportunity, We work Spiritualy 24/7/365, instant in season and out of season.

Hope this helps a bit :D

Bridled in Christ Forever :)

Ok let’s actually read and understand what Paul is saying in 2 Corinthians 3. Instead of using it to our own profit let us acknowledge what he actually says instead of manipulating it to justify sin.

Ok Paul just said that instead of a lifeless letter written with Ink, he says that the Corinthian’s are living letters of Righteousness written on their hearts by God.
With this in mind lets continue with Paul’s argument.

2Co 3:4 And such trust have we through Christ to God-ward:

Eze 36:27 And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.

So Paul makes it clear that the Spirit confirms the New Covenant by writing the 10 commandments on our hearts and in our minds that we become living letters for Christ.

What els did he say in this verse:

See what James says on this matter:

Jas 1:25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

And again he says speaking of the 10 commandments:

Jas 2:8 If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well:

Jas 2:9 But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors.

You are mixing Law with Grace. You are mixing the Law written on stones with the Law written on our hearts. They are two completely different things.

There is no Righteousness gained by keeping the law under your own sufficiency. Our Righteousness comes by faith through Jesus and following His Holy Spirit.

The 10 commandments are not written on our hearts when we are saved. The Law of the Spirit is written on our hearts when we are saved. Love, Joy, and Peace are written on our hearts when we recieve a heart of flesh. Our heart of stone that is replaced is following the 10 commandments written on stone through our own sufficiency.

Galatians 3

1O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?
2This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
3Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?
4Have ye suffered so many things in vain? if it be yet in vain.
5He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
6Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.
7Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.
8And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.
9So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.
10For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.
11But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.
12And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.
13Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
14That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
15Brethren, I speak after the manner of men; Though it be but a man's covenant, yet if it be confirmed, no man disannulleth, or addeth thereto.
16Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.
17And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect.
18For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise.
19Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.
20Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one.
21Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law.
22But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.
23But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.
24Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
25But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.
26For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
27For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
28There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. 29And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

It looks really simple to me. Follow the Law or follow Jesus Christ who saves. I choose Jesus. I know the Lord has given me a new heart. Has He given you a new heart?

The bible says that there is a vail over the hearts of people who follow the Law when the Law is read. It is futile to try and reason with such people. They will twist the scripture to mean whatever they have been taught. I have posted several scriptures to show people we are saved by grace through faith in Jesus and not by following the Law. Who will believe? Only those who have faith in Jesus Christ can believe. Do you have faith in Jesus? Pray and ask to be baptised with His Holy Spirit. Ask for Wisdom and Knowledge and Discernment.

Ephesians 1:17
That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:

This is also my prayer to all who read this post. In Jesus name. Amen.

Mark 2:27-28
(27) And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:
(28) Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.

The sabbath was made for man for our benefit, God made the sabbath to be a blessing to us.

Deuteronomy 6:24-25
(24) And the LORD commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear the LORD our God, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as it is at this day.
(25) And it shall be our righteousness, if we observe to do all these commandments before the LORD our God, as he hath commanded us.
Romans 7:12
(12) Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.

Yes, we all need a day of rest. For most of us it is Sunday, but some people have to work on Sunday and get their rest some other day. Hospital workers would be an example.

Amen.
It is hard to know what to do next. Here is why. You ignore the plain fact that Paul upholds the law of God over and over again in all his letters. And focus on the parts that seem to agree with your belief. Notice that I used the entire text and showed how Paul had one clear line of reasoning throughout his discourse. Yet you pick bits out and do not prove nor show that this was the intended meaning.

Shall I do the same for Galatians 3 knowing that you did not heed Corinthians 3? What profit would it be?

I believe in being saved by Grace through Faith. I believe that Jesus made a total sacrifice that he could Free me from sin.

Yet the Gospel you preach is one where Jesus did not free us from sin but rather freed us to sin.

You may say you don’t but you do. Let’s examine the fact for a second.
Gal 3:24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

Notice that the Law leads us to who?

Answer:
Christ. In which we are righteous by Faith. Now wait a second if we are righteous by faith and righteousness is seen in the law. Then does that not mean we are keeping the law. Ps 119:172 By the way Justified means righteous.

Is this true is this taught anywhere else that the Law points out sin?

Rom 7:7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.
1Jn 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

Answer: yes, the law is clearly spoken of as that which points out sin. Paul makes it clear in Romans 7 that this law is the Ten Commandments. (Thou shalt not covet)

So how does the law point out sin? And does that make the law bad?

Answer: Romans 7 tells us that it points out sin by us looking at it and then seeing that we are not keeping it and thus breaking the law which John says is sin. James agrees with this that the law is like a mirror that shows us our condition. Then our reaction should be either do what it says and be saved or forget and be lost.

Jas 1:20 For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.
Jas 1:21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.
Jas 1:22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
Jas 1:26 If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain.

In fact James says that the man who does not do so has a vain religion and is deceived.

So does that make the law bad?

Rom 7:12 Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.

Answer: no the law is not bad.

So why was the law against us?

Rom 7:13 Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful.
Rom 7:14 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.

Answer: The law pointes out our sin, the law is against us because we are against it. We are slaves to sin and thus the law condemns us.

So we can see that the Law itself is not bad. But because we are sinful it condemns us. In other words the law is against sin.

So If we are slaves to sin How does Christ’s death save us?

Rom 8:11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
Rom 8:12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.
Rom 8:13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
Rom 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
Rom 8:15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

Answer: Ahhh precious promis. Through Jesus death we are no longer slaves to the flesh but rather to the Spirit.

Rom 6:18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.
Rom 6:19 I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.
Rom 6:20 For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness.
Rom 6:21 What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death.
Rom 6:22 But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.

Notice that those who are in the flesh are free from righteousness. And thus sinners but those who are servants of righteousness are free from sin. You are either one or the other. Paul illustrates lake this:

Rom 6:16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

So if the flesh breaks the law what does the one who is lead by the Spirit do?

Rom 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
Rom 8:3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
Rom 8:4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
For what the law could not do the Spirit now does through the blood of Christ. And the law is fulfilled in us. Remember the spirit writes the law on our hearts and then we are able to obey. Thus free from sin.
Se the problem with the flesh is this:
Rom 8:5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
Rom 8:6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
Rom 8:7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
Rom 8:8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
Rom 8:9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

Notice here what Paul says. That those who follow flesh do the things of the flesh/sin. But those who are spirit do the things of the Spirit/righteousness.
Then he makes something clear about why the flesh is not of God. Vrs 7 because it is not subject to the law. This is the reason that Paul gives for the flesh being condemned. Because it can not obey the law. Thus the opposite which he has been showing in verses we read is the Spirit which enables us to keep the law and thus not be condemned.

Jesus has not only freed us from past sin but also from continued In sin.

So let’s recap, Sin is breaking the law. Thus not sinning is keeping the law. Jesus came to free us from sin totally so that must mean that somehow we are enabled by Christ’s blood to obey.
If the Flesh is not subject to the law then the Spirit is subject and thus it’s a matter of who we serve. Either sin that leads to death or obedience which leads to righteousness. There is no third choice.
You who say the law is no longer part of salvation are preaching a gospel of bondage to Satan. My God came as a man to this earth lived as our example that we may follow. He died for my past sins and then imparted His Spirit to me that I could not just be forgiven but freed from the slavery to sin that I was born in. Now I am no longer a slave and do not serve sin. Thus the law is a glory to me for it is the character of God. It is righteousness and the Spirit causes me to obey that I may be like Him.

Jesus said:

Joh 8:34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.
Joh 8:35 And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever.
Joh 8:36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

Those who sin are slaves to sin, but the son of God has made me free and I am no longer a slave to sin.
Its very simple logic that Paul teaches. You are either obey God or you obey Satan. Sin or obedience. Breaking the law or keeping it.
If you prefer to believe in a Gospel that teaches that God is unable to free us totally then go ahead. I will trust in the Lord that he is able to free me totally by His blood. It is the Grace of God that saves me. Keeping the law because it is written in my heart by the Spirit is the fruit of accepting the Grace given so freely. Praise God for his full provision.

Yes, we all need a day of rest. For most of us it is Sunday, but some people have to work on Sunday and get their rest some other day. Hospital workers would be an example.
Although the Lord's day is the 7th day sabbath. I agree though that their are some jobs that have to be done on sabbath like hospitals. The SDA church do have many hospitals around the world, work on Sabbath should be kept to a minimum if possible.

And after all, who in their right mind would refuse to witness to a lost sheep, just because its saturday or sunday? No a real witness would EVER miss such an opportunity, We work Spiritualy 24/7/365, instant in season and out of season.
I don't think godly work breaks the Sabbath. Christ said people could be circumcised on the Sabbath without it breaking the Sabbath. If that can be done, then there's a lot of leeway there. Personally, I think we were to rest from our worldly labors and keep the day holy. No spiritual labor would make it unholy.

Matthew 12:1-8
(1) At that time Jesus went on the sabbath day through the corn; and his disciples were an hungred, and began to pluck the ears of corn, and to eat.
(2) But when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto him, Behold, thy disciples do that which is not lawful to do upon the sabbath day.
(3) But he said unto them, Have ye not read what David did, when he was an hungred, and they that were with him;
(4) How he entered into the house of God, and did eat the shewbread, which was not lawful for him to eat, neither for them which were with him, but only for the priests?
(5) Or have ye not read in the law, how that on the sabbath days the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are blameless?
(6) But I say unto you, That in this place is one greater than the temple.
(7) But if ye had known what this meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice, ye would not have condemned the guiltless.
(8) For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day.

Hebrews 8:10
(10) For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:

His law is written in the heart, and lived out in the life.

If I had to work Sunday, I’d get a day’s rest (or two half days’ rest) as soon as possible.

Sabbath before Sinai
Genesis 2:2-3
(2) And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
(3) And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.
Exodus 5:5
(5) And Pharaoh said, Behold, the people of the land now are many, and ye make them rest from their burdens.

The word rest in these verses is translated as keeping the sabbath
H7673
שׁבת
shâbath
shaw-bath'

A primitive root; to repose, that is, desist from exertion; used in many implied relations (causatively, figuratively or specifically): - (cause to, let, make to) cease, celebrate, cause (make) to fail, keep (sabbath), suffer to be lacking, leave, put away (down), (make to) rest, rid, still, take away.

Exodus 16:23
(23) And he said unto them, This is that which the LORD hath said, To morrow is the rest of the holy sabbath unto the LORD: bake that which ye will bake to day, and seethe that ye will seethe; and that which remaineth over lay up for you to be kept until the morning.
Exodus 16:25-30
(25) And Moses said, Eat that to day; for to day is a sabbath unto the LORD: to day ye shall not find it in the field.
(26) Six days ye shall gather it; but on the seventh day, which is the sabbath, in it there shall be none.
(27) And it came to pass, that there went out some of the people on the seventh day for to gather, and they found none.
(28) And the LORD said unto Moses, How long refuse ye to keep my commandments and my laws?
(29) See, for that the LORD hath given you the sabbath, therefore he giveth you on the sixth day the bread of two days; abide ye every man in his place, let no man go out of his place on the seventh day.
(30) So the people rested on the seventh day.

Notice that when the Sabbath is created that the 7th day is mention 3 times
Genesis 2:2-3
(2) And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
(3) And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

There are 3 things mentioned
1. God ended His work
2. He rested
3. He blessed and sanctified

Look at what happened when Jesus gave His life
John 19:30
(30) When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.
Luke 23:54-56
(54) And that day was the preparation, and the sabbath drew on.
(55) And the women also, which came with him from Galilee, followed after, and beheld the sepulchre, and how his body was laid.
(56) And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the sabbath day according to the commandment.

When Christ died He said "it is finished" and He rested in the grave on Sabbath

So we see two things that was at creation
1. God ended His work - It is finished
2. He rested - Christ rested in the grave

The Sabbath is a sign of redemption
Deuteronomy 5:15
(15) And remember that thou wast a servant in the land of Egypt, and that the LORD thy God brought thee out thence through a mighty hand and by a stretched out arm: therefore the LORD thy God commanded thee to keep the sabbath day.

So..........Do you see Christ from the begining?
And that it was Finished before it was made manifest?

Gen 2:2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
Gen 2:3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

The Sabbath commandment
Exodus 20:8-11
(8) Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
(9) Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
(10) But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
(11) For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

The Sabbath a sign forever
Exodus 31:16-17

(16) Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant.
(17) It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed.

The Sabbath a sign of God as the sanctifier
Ezekiel 20:12, 20

(12) Moreover also I gave them my sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I am the LORD that sanctify them.
(20) And hallow my sabbaths; and they shall be a sign between me and you, that ye may know that I am the LORD your God.

The Blessing upon Sabbath keepers
Isaiah 56:1-2

(1) Thus saith the LORD, Keep ye judgment, and do justice: for my salvation is near to come, and my righteousness to be revealed.
(2) Blessed is the man that doeth this, and the son of man that layeth hold on it; that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and keepeth his hand from doing any evil.

A Sabbath reform
Isaiah 58:12-14

(12) And they that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places: thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations; and thou shalt be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in.
(13) If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words:
(14) Then shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.

The Sabbath in the new earth
Isaiah 66:22-23

(22) For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain.
(23) And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD.

Genesis 17:10-14

10This is my covenant, which ye shall keep, between me and you and thy seed after thee; Every man child among you shall be circumcised.

11And ye shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin; and it shall be a token of the covenant betwixt me and you.

12And he that is eight days old shall be circumcised among you, every man child in your generations, he that is born in the house, or bought with money of any stranger, which is not of thy seed.

13He that is born in thy house, and he that is bought with thy money, must needs be circumcised: and my covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant.

14And the uncircumcised man child whose flesh of his foreskin is not circumcised, that soul shall be cut off from his people; he hath broken my covenant.

Again I humbly ask, how did Jesus obey the Sabbath? If you do not know, there is one on this thread that has given it to you.

How do these verses tie in to a literal sabbath seeing as though this too is a covenant forever?

I agree that this sheds some light into its true meaning, but this does not answer the question. It's funny though how this is "spiritualized" by you and yet still you hold firm to a literal sabbath when BOTH are of days!

How are we circumcised?

I wonder sometimes if the etter question in these discussions should be based more in.
Do we live what is right?
Or, do we live in rightousness?

God bless:)

Actually if you read it, it is Paul that gives a spiritual application.
