Exo 23:13 And in all things that I have said unto you be circumspect: and make no mention of the name of other gods, neither let it be heard out of thy mouth.
Psa 16:4 Their sorrows shall be multiplied that hasten after another god: their drink offerings of blood will I not offer, nor take up their names into my lips.
I love to call Jesus YESHUA because this is what He was called by His parents, brothers and sisters, followers and the disciples.
Today I verged on leaving the name Jesus altogether when I recalled having learned in my own early studies of His name that it actually means Healing Zeus Soter, a false god. With the teachings pasted above in mind I totally freaked out thinking I have been being disrespectful using the Greek name for Him, however upon further seeking, I have found Jesus is simply the Greek transliteration of Yeshua from the Hebrew, not Iesous=Healing Zeus Soter. Whew! Almost, but no prize, right?
If anyone out there is a Greek scholar and is able to shed total light on this, I certainly am interested in knowing all about it, however, to be safe and to be respectful, I believe I will simply call our Savior by the Name He used. Yahweh bless all in Yeshua now and always, in His precious name, amen.
