I always believed salvation is MORE then just knowing God. For even the demons knew God and trembled.

I do believe someone who is saved is saved for eternity but salvation is being BORN again of both SPIRIT and water.

God does not want us to be babies forever. we are to grow and mature in Christ.

Salvation isn't just a spiritual state of believing in God and accepting Him as their Savior.

It is becoming a NEW creation in Christ.

I'm not sure if I can explain it fully. You should listen to the sermons.

Paris Reidheed uses the Bible to explain it clearer and in more depth then a few forum posts can.

start with the So great a Salvation: Awakening one.

Hebrews 2
New King James Version (NKJV)

2 Therefore we must give the more earnest heed to the things we have heard, lest we drift away. 2 For if the word spoken through angels proved steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just reward, 3 how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him

What I meant by "know God" is that you know He's there and you can talk to Him and He will help you and you belong to Him. Idk how to really describe it. Like I can be completely alone way out in the middle of the wilderness in the u.p. of michigan and still feel like God's there and talk to Him and have complete peace without ever feeling alone. Idk that was a really bad explantaion, but I don't know how to describe how someone knows God and knows they belong to Him.

I'll listen to the sermon tomorrow. I can't have the speaker up. Usually I just get the side speakers and put them up to my ear but the wires broke lol.

correct, selenah.

eternal life, by itself, is indeed eternal.
possession of it, on the other hand, is not.

if possession were eternal, then there is no need to stop sinning, as John says in 1 John 2:1, and there is also no need to endure to the end like Jesus says in Matt24:13 and Matt10:22

Flat out lie. Judas was never saved, there is abundant evidence to prove that. If God saves us, we are saved forever. If we think otherwise, we are turning to works to be right before God and will never make it.
Jesus said that no one can come to Him unless it has been granted them by the Father, and that whoever comes to Him he will never cast away.
Trust only in Jesus as your all in all. If you look to even a teeny tiny thing that you have done to make you acceptable to God, you have fallen form God's grace and will end up under judgment before God on the last day.
Repentance and good works will follow salvation, but are only done out of gratitude and a new heart to obey God.
Flee from those who would teach you that you have to do something to save yourself, they are deceived and deceiving. Salvation is ALL OF GOD, FROM FIRST TO LAST AND IN BETWEEN.
God bless.

Tom

Selenah, Judas had his "part" to play also, Jesus had to be betrayed according to prophecy. (Act 1:16) His father, Satan needed a "body" to do his bidding, as the Word needed a body to do God's bidding. Judas was to the devil as John the Baptist was to Jesus. John's duty was to proclaim Jesus, Judas' duty was to betray the Son, as he will again at the end. (2Th 2:3) Remeber, he was the son of perdition (ruin, loss) (Joh 17:12).

Yes he was the son of perdition. He was an impostor. who never trusted God, (he stole from them all the time, and his greed is what caused him to betray christ, because he loved money more than anything. If he believed in Christ, he would never have betrayed him

Judas is a type of someone being in a church who is not a christian, They pa=lay the game, but have never believed, they only get what they can out of it to suit them. One it no longer is profitable for them, they leave.

and i say, selenah, dont listen to those who would say salvatoin is past-tense...
salvation is a nonstop, intimate, personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and doesn't end until our death

the Words of Jesus Christ tell us this:

he who endures to the end shall be saved.

selena, listen to this.

for by grace you have been saved (past tense)''

And you has he justified (past tense)

the term :endures to the end speaks of last day prophesy during great tribulation. when christians will be killed and persecuted like no other time on earth. Jesus said if you endure to the end (when he returns) you will be saved (physically)

He is not talking about being saved eternally in that passage.

yeah i think we have to "know God" but by knowing God we learn to grow and become mature.

this is the verse I was thinking about before getting distracted...

Romans 13
8 Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law. 9 For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not bear false witness,”[a] “You shall not covet,” and if there is any other commandment, are all summed up in this saying, namely, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”[c] 10 Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.

11 And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. 12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. 13 Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy. 14 But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.

what do you think it means that "our salvation is nearer than when we first believed"?

salvation is not just belief or eternal life

it is God transforming our hearts and souls into the image of His Son.

this is done by walking with His Holy Spirit and spending time in prayer and the Bible so that we "know God"

however you will find that others will define salvation differently. lol that is where the miscomunication often comes from.
:)

and selenah, i would recommend you listen to the words of Jesus Christ

"For God so loved the word, that He gave His only Son, that whosoever believeth (active tense) shall not perish but have everlasting life."
it never says believe only once then turn back to the ways of the world

our salvation is a life-long process, selenah... as long as we are alive, we work out our salvation in fear and trembling, remaining in Jesus Christ, trusting in Him for our salvation, contending for the faith that was once delivered unto all the saints, and not giving into seducing spirits or doctrines of demons, thus shipwrecking our faith, like Hymenaeus, Alexander, and Philetus did to themselves, and those mentioned in 2 Peter 2:1

our salvation lies in Jesus Christ, because it's in Him in which we are saved... not some pre-ordained, divine cree.

Yes selina. listen to him, He says they will never die. and has eternal life.

Never means never, and eternal means eternal.

Yes selina. Lets mock christ and get saved at least one time a day, or maybe 20 times a week. or maybe more?

Don't be like this man here who thinks he can be good enough to earn salvation. Only one man fit this mold, and that man was Christ, He died for us, He said"it is finished" he does not need our help to save us, he did all the work. If we needed to help him, he would have said, it is begun, now you do the rest. It is nothing but pride to think you can be good enough to earn the right to be saved. God gave us that right, not by our good deeds, But by his love and sacrifice.

God said he will destroy the proud, but give mercy to the humble. Don't be like the pharisees, and modern day proud people who think they are good enough to earn salvation, because they are too proud to admit they will never be good enough

salvation is not eternal life, it receiving the Holy Spirit and being able to cry forth Abba Father.

If you are saved you will have eternal life, but salvation itself is so much MORE then eternal life.

as for Judas. He never was either. HE was NOT clean and Jesus tells us this:

John 13
New King James Version (NKJV)
10 Jesus said to him, “He who is bathed needs only to wash his feet, but is completely clean; and you are clean, but not all of you.” 11 For He knew who would betray Him; therefore He said, “You are not all clean.”

plus the Holy Spirit did not come upon the disciples until after Jesus ascended into Heaven as is documented in Acts 2.

therefore there was NO way that Judas could have had the HOLY SPIRIT within him.

Therefore he was NOT saved at any point but he tasted of the fruits of Heaven, heard the words of God and rejected it.

He is the example of Apostate who loved the world and money more then Jesus.

Idk I think salvation is the point at which someone belong's to God rather than the devil. If the people in the OT didn't have the Holy Spirit and having the Holy Spirit=salvation, how did they get saved. That means having the Holy Spirit isn't necessary for salvtion

They were saved the same way we are. By faith in God. The HS did not come until after Christ arise, because salvation was not purchased yet. Thats why we were given that special gift. But it also means we are held more accountable. And will suffer more if we do not grow.

But eternal life has always been eternal.

Abraham believed God and it was credited to him for righteousness..He was justified by his belief (faith) also.

in basic terms.

We are in danger of suffering eternal condemnation. Because we have rebelled against God.

Salvation means we are saved from that condemnation.

Salvation in a nutshell

Colossians 2:14
having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us, which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.

Jesus, "It is finished"

that is why the people in the OT were sent to Abraham's bosom and Jesus had to deliver them after He was cruxified. Because they died in hope and faith but did not have the Holy Spirit and could not enter Heaven until after Jesus was resurrected.

Matthew 27
51 Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split, 52 and the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; 53 and coming out of the graves after His resurrection, they went into the holy city and appeared to many.

the OT and the NT have different covenants in place. it gets complicated and my brain is getting sleepy.

i've been saying ALL THIS TIME, and TRYING to make it as PAINFULLY CLEAR AS POSSIBLE that it is THROUGH faith that we are saved, but apparently, you dont believe that!...

Does that mean that having the Holy Spirit isn't necessary for salvation?
