^^^^I agree with Violakat, you'll probably have to just be honest, Mr. Honest. :(

However, you might be able to soften it a bit by saying that you don't think that you're the right guy for her; that way it comes off more like you're rejecting yourself, yet it's still the truth (which I know is very important to you :))
MrHonest, you might want to go with that one --- it sounds like the 'safer' route...

Unless, of course, her father then slaps you on the back and hugs you and says:

"Oh no, son -- I think you are the perfect man for my daughter..."

*FACEPALMS*

OH NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

See, now Snackersmom knows how to speak with tact.

“Here's all you have to know about men and women: women are crazy, men are stupid. And the main reason women are crazy is that men are stupid.”
― George Carlin

...he mighta been a lousy christian role model, but he's absolutely right on this one ;)

I think this belongs in the lousy cliche thread.

Why do men seem to be in a whole other world when they are watching TV?
... it's like they're hipnotized or something O.O

almost forgot: don't buy into the fear mongering at the end of the second video, either. (oddly enough, it is hard to find videos that both explain how propaganda works and don't incorporate some sort of fear mongering into them... such an odd world we live in)

Her dad likes me. I like Snackersmom's suggestion, sort of. Why do men & women like talking about dating? Why not cars or clothes? Neutral ground is always food... hah.

Why do women expect us to do stuff????:rolleyes::D

Why do some men think they have to do nothing? Why do some men expect women to do everything? :p (Two can play this game.)

On the serious side now:

The fact is we were made to work for and with each other. When one person doesn't do their share, then the partnership becomes unbalanced, and one person becomes overwhelmed while the other person reaps all the benefits for nothing. One of the major reasons for divorce.

*Types up a longer explanation of how Randy should phrase his rejection so that it sounds like a compliment*

Don't use any of this if it isn't true, of course, but feel free to use any that seems helpful:

Randy: "I respect you/your daughter a great deal, and I want her to have the very best life possible, with the most perfect guy possible. I value her friendship a lot, and I really want her to be happy for her whole life. I've given the matter a great deal of thought and prayer, and I just don't have peace about pursuing a romantic relationship with her, because I honestly don't think that I'm "The One" for her. I'm only saying this because I wanted to be honest, and I don't want her to be stuck with any less than what God intends for her. She is a wonderful young lady, and I feel honored to have her friendship."

You can Randy-it-up a little, so it doesn't sound like you're reading off a cue-card, of course. But, that's the general theme, be as gently/tactfully firm as you can. If he/she persists after that, you can get a little more blunt. I hope this helps, feel free to drop me a p.m. if you want more suggestions :)

Why do people like to discuss relationships? We're fascinated by them! God INVENTED male/female attraction, you know ;)
