I actually don't believe in 'fate' or 'destiny'. I do believe that God is Sovereign, but not a dictator. If you're caught up on the language, though, then I make my own destiny.
I do want to know and fulfill God's plan(s) for my life, but that relies largely (if not solely) on me. 'Free Will' means we can literally do whatever we want, but there are equal and opposite reactions for every action (or rather, consequences for our choices).
As far as I know, I'm currently at least headed in the right direction (how straight the road or quick the journey being another matter entirely). I believe God has called me to the place I am now in (particular college, ministry track, current occupation as a Youth Minister), and also have a heading for future sailing (going to Asbury Theological for an MDiv, completing the candidacy process, becoming an ordained elder in the Methodist church).
I do not, however, know every detail, nor more than the current step and next. In essence, that's all God really needs me to know (if that). 'This is where you are, and this is where you're going.' In any case, if God and His Kingdom are what you seek, then I don't really think you should worry about anything.
I know God's given me gifts, though, and I'm interested to see how those play into things (especially music).
