All of them combined what's your point?
Well...according to scripture it was at a certain point. Abraham had faith in God's words, but it was not until Abraham performed an action that God knew for sure that Abraham truly believed in those words. Let's read scripture.....

Gen.22
[10] And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son.
[11] And the angel of the LORD called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I.
[12] And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me.

It was not until Abraham ACTED upon the words that God knew for certain that Abraham had faith.

It takes more than faith for salvation. A person must be presented God's words. Then they must make a choice whether to believe in those words or not. Then they must obey the words they believe in.

You can get behind the wheel of a car and drive down a hill..believing the entire time that if you press the brake the car is going to stop. But until you ACT on that faith....the car continues to roll forward.

Faith alone will not save a person. It takes obedience along with faith!

Oh My are you serious? so God somehow did not know if abraham was serious or not and NEEDED abraham to do something so God could make sure he understood abraham? wow what God do you worship. My god is not fooled by anyone, he knows our every thought, he knows everything we will ever do, in fact scripture said he knew it before the foundation of the earth was laid, when he chose to save us. You need to learn more about God and who he is and what he is before you try to preach to others.

Please explain the following....

explain it? are you saying God did not know it already? He was proving to Abraham his faith, and in doing so, helped Abraham see that he can trust God, he did it for Abraham sake, not Gods sake. You act as if God does not know everything we think or say, or everything we will ever do. That is not the God david knew, when David himself said you knew me before I was in my mothers womb! Did David lie?

A few pages back I asked the question....

"Is faith in Jesus Christ ALL that is needed for salvation?" I heard from one...but would like to know the views of others.

So.......... Is having faith in Jesus Christ, believing He is the Son of God, the one that shed His blood for our sins, the only requirement for salvation?

As someone just posted in another thread, I believe Romans tells us that we are to keep the righteousness of the Law (not as a means of salvation, but as a means to remain justified). Romans further goes on to say that it is the doers of the Law who are justified (found not guilty and deserving death). The will of God has never changed. It has always been about obedience to God.

Who was proving what to whom? God needed to prove something to Abraham? Did not righteous Abraham already have faith? Abraham needed MORE proof?

When Yahweh proved Abraham, and Abraham was at the point of sacrificing Isaac, Yahweh said now He knew that Abraham believed Him because He did not with hold his son, his only son.

When the angel of the Lord stopped Abraham from sacrificing his son, Abraham turned and saw a ram caught in a thicket, so he took the ram and offered it up to Yahweh.

The ram is interesting because previous to the climax of this proving of Abraham, Isaac was standing with the wood and the fire, and he asked his father, Abraham, here is the wood and the fire for the burnt offering but where is the lamb? Abraham replied, God will provide, HIMSELF, a Lamb for the burnt offering. Now because the Word is true, Abraham was prophesying the Lamb of Yahweh, for there was a ram caught in the thicket which he offered up.

The Word of God, Yahweh, is so good, amen.

don't we all need proof? is that not why God tests us, to make us trust him more? Are you trying to tell me God needs proof of anything? God knows all, God does not need proof, he knows already.

What is written in the Word is for us all to learn from. Some things occurred simply to teach generations to come. Yahweh pronounced the end from the beginning, and He knows all, so it is reasonable that some events are strictly for us to learn by, as is written. To think they are to be analyzed is to think oneself capable of analyzing the Mind of Yahweh. His ways are not our ways.

So...... Abraham was proving to God his faith, as in his own faith! He was proving to God that he trusted God's words!

Did not abraham say I knew that God was able to raise him from the dead if i did follow through with it? does not our work prove our faith is real, and not the other way around as you want to make it.

if abraham did not do it, what would that tell him and us about abrahams faith?

Yes you're right obedience and that entails being led to Christ by the Law. We believe and are obedient thus acknowledging we have sinned against the letter and that meant being guilty before God and deserving death yet we are now united in Christ's death and resurrection thus born again in the spirit. Now that we are born again in the Spirit the Law of Christ is now written in our hearts which means that we are to love as HE LOVE which means our flesh which is the body of sins is to be counted dead that Christ may live in us. Granted, we are to die daily and how do we do that? By being truthful to God everyday whenever we fail him it is only in our flesh because to be in the spirit is to be dead to sin. Every day we come across sin in some form we may not be slaves to sin but we are encased in bodies of flesh that continuously need to be crucified. What provokes our flesh? The letter of the Law. What happens when we sin? We are to be truthful to God and pour out our hearts in spirit and in truth. Proverbs 28:13 Psalm 51:6 1 John 1:8-10. the more we see our need for God the more we can be renewed inwardly in our spiritual man and glorify Christ the giver of life. When we obey it is an act of the spirit. How do we obey? by loving others into the Kingdom of God as Christ loved us. Who gets the glory? God does because when we crucify our flesh our spiritual man which is united with Christ bears fruit unto God. In other words when anyone is touched by the love we are to show they were touched by Christ in us the Hope of Glory.

You see readers....this is what I have been saying all along......

"....does not our work prove our faith is real...."

And what WORK was it that Abraham performed? Abraham did as he was told! Abraham kept God's commandment to sacrifice his only son.

Abraham had faith when he told his son to join him up the mountain....but that was not keeping God's commandment.

Abraham had faith when he bundled the wood for the fire.....but that was not keeping God's commandment.

Abraham had faith when he laid his only son on the alter.....but STILL...that was not keeping God's commandment.

"And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son."

NOW Abraham kept God's commandment. NOW God knew that Abraham had faith in His words!

Faith alone will not save man.

Man must perform a work. And that work is OBEDIENCE to God's words.....ALL of them!

And here you go back again to the same ole stuff.

Abraham did not do those works to save himself. he did them because he was saved.

Those truely saved will work, it is not to make them saved, it is because they were already saved.

All of them? Well then NO ONE WILL MAKE IT. because we have already failed.

thanks for proving you do not know God, and thanks for proving you do not understand the gospel.

What happened to "Abraham believed Yahweh and it was reckoned to him as works?" We all believe our Father when we repent in Yeshua, Jesus. It is reckoned to us as works, just as we are blessed with our sins not imputed to any of us.............

I like what you said above, "...we are to die daily...". Each and every day we are to do our best to NOT do what we know is wrong. And when we fail....knowing this will bring us closer to God.....

1 John 2
[1] My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
[2] And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
[3] And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
[4] He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

Knowing we have an advocate gives us hope!.

You are still failing to see that obedience is not unto the letter of the Law. We don't obey God after the Law in the letter fact the Law in the letter is not of faith. The Letter which is the 10 commandments kills! The Spirit which is the Law of Christ gives life! This is the entire point! We don't obey the letter >>>> because this is what Christ did for us carefully compare John 15:10. All of the places in John where Jesus states to obey His commands is the LAW OF CHRIST NOT THE LAW OF MOSES. 1 John is written by the same John and the references where He states to keep the commandments is NOT the Law of Moses it's the Law that imparts life (Romans 8) which again is the Law of Christ! 1 John 3:23 clarifies yet again. John 13:34-35 when taken into context is what commandments they are referring to in John chapter 14 and 15. Again carefully read what Jesus stated in John 15:10 which is crystal clear. He kept HIS FATHER"S COMMANDS and we are to keep HIS! Which is His? THE LAW OF CHRIST GIVEN IN THE CHAPTER BEFORE IN JOHN 13:34-35. I explained this in my other lengthy comment hope you read it.

Blessings
