Not I am not ashamed to be a Christian. But there are times I wonder if my friends who have known me for years are cause I no longer live the old life I use to.
Rom 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

That said, why not just go ahead and claim the title Christian? Maybe you can be the person that makes someone else stop and say "Hey. That guy/girl is a Christian and they are different! .

I loved this response! :)

Yes, I do feel ashamed everytime people act like bullies ''in the name of Christ'' but it is my hope that every time that I say I'm Christian people really see something different in me. I am convinced that we as Christians have a great responsibility on our shoulders. We are the ambassadors of Christ, and last time I checked even an ambassador in the world takes his job seriously...why shouldn't we?
It is our high calling to profess our faith in a manner worthy of the gospel.

I think I understand where you're coming from SeoulSearch. I often times feel the need to explain my views in more detail on certain topics, since there have been certain misunderstandings originated from past controversies in the Evangelical world. However, I think I've failed more times myself than I can imagine...and I seriously hope that my words have never hurt anyone when they shouldn't have (and I'm sure I have). If I have hurt someone I want it to be because I said the truth in a loving way, not because I was being a religious jerk disguised as a Christian.

Honestly, I have seen people come into these forums looking for something.... Truth.... I was speaking to this person in a confused state and an opportunity lost because emotions of protecting Christ "as Peter did in the garden" came into
Play.... i see the image of jesus in the garden everytime this happens.. Actually saw this happen this last week in a conversation... Someone i care about got very uoset and struck a person verbally because the relationship between them and Christ had not been re connected yet. I saw Peter in that moment, strike and cut off the ear of the guard in the garden when they came to get Jesus . and more profoundly heard what jesus said and did when it happened.... "Peter, put away your sword!! Those who live by the sword die by the sword, put away your sword!". Jesus then picked up the ear and healed the guard..... People banned are lost opportunities for " both" sides to come together where Christ is... For the people coming in .... they do not yet have ears to hear... we as Christians when striking these people cut off their ear to "hear" the word of god, and instead if taking accountability for our actions of sin... We ban that wich has exposed our own sin... ....a sword held to fight a good fight is not used to strike, it is dangerous to even hold it in battle... The sword is the "word of God" not an actual weapon to protect God.... God can protect Himself.. He has for
centuries and is still around.. We are to be instruments used by God to speak His truth... God has never and will never ban us or prevent us from coming back to Him.. so when the question is asked " am I ever ashamed to be a Christian?". It is in our weakness He is made strong ... it is my shame that purifies who He is and lessens me to who I am... No I am never ashamed to be a Christian.. Although many times in my sinful states I feel exposed to yield more to Christ...it has been my dealing in my boken states that has brought me closer to Christ.

There are no triumphs in anything I can do, but there are many triumphs in what Christ can do through me...

I don't remember who it was in the bible who murdered many Christians , by tongue and by sword...he became a great man of God, and God still used Him... What a shame if we dint get out of Gods way and let Him

It was Paul.

exercising the spirit mam happens by feeding Him spiritual food ... Reading Gods word, what we read, watch, listen too... When I allow things of God to pour in Jesus in me is fed and over rides my flesh... The nature of sin is when we take a second thing and put it in first place... Emotions, speech , actions etc .. We (flesh nature) steps in front of Jesus and become our own God... when Jesus is allowed first place he resides above everything else that gives us temporary pleasure... Since God over rides sin, God allows us to fall... I will give the enemy NO authority , if something goes wrong, I will Give God the authority and believe it is I have strayed.. I have put something or someone in front of jesus... If something negative happens it can sometimes smells like wrath, God took His wrath out on Jesus.. It is I who have strayed away from God... Ashamed of being a child of God? Never never ... he is raising up Jesus in me... More of Him and less of me.. my failures of every kind had been allowed by God to redirect me towards Him... His loving Hand leads me to calm waters.. mistakes , wrong choices , unGodly behavior... Why are we so surprised at it? Adam and eve strayed away from God...my birth of not knowing God stems from that..It is in my failure to live out my own life correctly that has brought me to a halt
, has caused me to stand at attention to Him.. Man doesn't wake us up.... Out failures and pain living without God does... God wakes us up not as a catholic, nit as a baptist. ( God is not the author if that kind of division) Worldly thinking has... In the beginning , there was no division... No separation.... Man in His own has chosen that... I am not Christian, catholic, Muslim... God has no labels ... I am simply who HE says I am... "A Child of God"
If I wear the labor Christian I have simply put a " hello I am" so and so on... A mask ... Nothing is going to cover up the identity of His original call to me... " come all my "children" who are burdened and heavy laden and I will give you rest". He didn't say come all you Christians, Catholics or Mormons ... He said come all my "children". When is society going to tear the labels off ? Those labels put a mask on our true identity... we are who Godsays we are... not a sign in some building people go into to be part of a "branched off" organized group... talk about belief systems being corrupted ... wonder what would happen to religion, if everyone stepped outside the church "box" and began handing money to someone zither could eat.. Have a warm jacket , mend a wound... Lift a brother up who you dint think deserves it... It is written! What reward is there to love someone who loves you?". There is self gratification reward ... when are we going to stand up children of God abd take these labels that cripple us off?

I have seen so much of this kind of activity, that I do not call myself a Christian (okay I had to for this website; there were only two choices). I call myself a follower of Jesus.

cool you are referring to a disciple.

same here. I am not ashamed to say that I am a christian. the thing is we all commit mistakes. We are not always right but we have to be treated right

I think it depends who you have talked to and their experience with Christians.

I love your avatar. There is so much in those names, both Yoda and Jedi are derived from the Hebrew phrase for the Hand of God.

Its so sad to see so many Christians rubbing Christs name in the dirt by being lukewarm...desiring the world still. But the word says to be proud that we bear the name Christian. If we are truly walking by the spirit then people will see a difference in us, from the rest of the world. We must daily die to our flesh so that we may be an empty vessel fit for His use.

Hi ate :)

I have heard and experienced a lot of situations that sometimes push me to hide my Christianity. but personally, i have never felt like im ashamed to be a christian, well, it may be true that the behavior of other brothers and sisters are not in line with what the Bible says. at times, unbelievers might even mock you for what your christian friend did. but we must remember that we are still being perfected. and that's part of the sanctification process that we go through as christians. we should never be ashamed of the faith we profess. because our eyes should be upon the Lord and not being stumbled by what are brothers and sisters do. besides, it's our great privilege to be one in His family. our job then is to rebuke our siblings in the Lord if they do behave in unpleasing manners and remind them that we bear the Light of the Lord.
GOD Bless you!

I'm sometimes ashamed to be human, because of the ignorant things my species does sometimes.

Same principals with some of the associations Christianity has gained

^this

You will find good and bad amongst any grouping. I don't care to titles or associations at all. I am me, no two people are identical, some might call me a christian, some might not, either way I don't care. I still believe the same regardless.

So, no not ashamed of being called that, am rather ashamed of how most Christians act though.
