i fell like 8 times and refused to fall a 9th time a couple weeks ago i said no to our former ldd long distace relationship...

What would make you not want to fall for someone?

Actually, Zero, when I read the first post here I was thinking of situations in which falling for someone is obviously wrong--there is a cute co-worker who happens to be pretty flirty with you... and happens to be married.

The Bible says we are to have self-control and not just go with our feelings anytime they strike.

Unfortunately, being a strongly emotional person, it's a tough pull (I can't remember having crushes on anyone married... except for a few famous guys... but I had plenty of incidences when I was crushing on someone who wasn't a good idea for me.)

Yeah, I agree, Kim. After I'd posted my original bit, I could remember quite a few times when I knew I had to stay away from someone because I knew that they were just not quite right, yet sort of also my type. I know that that probably sounds odd, and that some of you are like "huh? Why not give it a try?", but I recall one guy in the chat room specifically. It was when I was quite new to chatting. After talking with him I knew I had to decide whether or not to PM him the next time we were in there together. He was ... not a BAD boy, but he didn't have the same priorities that I do. When I mentioned evangelism, he said "that's nice" and immediately changed the subject. Also, he made a border-line joke. I knew that I'd get pulled back spiritually a little bit if I kept talking to him, so I made up my mind that night not to do so, even though I had enjoyed the attention. I knew I'd fall for him if I gave myself a chance.

That song was amusing, Pen. However, only pretty girls come to these forums, so you just blew your chances with all the pink names here :D.

Hmmm, not really, wouldn't say it would never happen though. I tend to have the other problem. No solid feelings. Bahahhaa.

If i dont want to do something i dont do it, so if i dont want to like someone i avoid them like the plague! :D

Pffft.

Shoppin at walmart again eh?:P

They downsizing your budget?

These are hard times. A girl has to be thrifty in order to have enough money for the important things. I had to wear last year's utility belt model to the superhero convention last week and it was so humiliating.

Exactly, Jilly. Everything SEEMS great, but there's this nagging feeling that something isn't right. You can't always put your finger on it, but it won't go away. Sometimes we are smart enough to run. Sometimes we aren't.

Yeah, Jullianna. I noticed that with romance, if it's peaceful, it's nearly always from God, and if it isn't, then it rarely is. That may actually be 100% true all of the time, I'm not sure. I don't want to give it as an absolute, but I've never seen it fail yet. A different guy I HAD kept talking to but had lost peace about doing so. When I told him that we weren't right for each other, I asked him not to contact me for a week so that we could stay friends (don't worry; I wasn't that short with him; I typed a really long thing that sounded a lot sweeter than that :)); I wanted some time off from talking. When I contacted him again he really only understood what I meant when I said that I simply didn't feel peaceful about it anymore, and that my peace had returned and stayed when I called it off. He told me that he understood; I didn't have to say anything else. I think that this sometimes works with non-Christians too, though I'm not sure.

Several years back I had a HUGE crush on this guy... I KNEW he was completely wrong for me but you know how it is.

Well, I wound up having two dreams. One had a lot of detail so I won't get into it but basically, in the dream, I had a pet ferret who kept getting sick and leaving messes all over the floor (I later did some reading about ferrets and learned that they are very fearless by nature and will try anything without regards to the consequences, which fit this guy to a T.)

In the second dream, I couldn't see the guy's face but I knew I really liked him. We were watching a movie and he said he had to use the restroom. Some time later I went to the restroom as well. This guy had thrown up all over the room--sorry if this is too graphic but the walls, floors, and ceiling were covered.

My pastor once said, if you have TWO dreams (like Joseph and Pharoah), God is REALLY trying to get your attention. I KNEW God was telling me, if you go after this guy, you are going to be cleaning up his messes the entire time, and he doesn't care--he won't even bother to attempt cleaning them up himself. I asked God to distract him with another girl so that I'd stop going after him... and that's exactly what happened.

But the married co-worker should be pretty easy to dislike because that sort of behavior from a married man should make a girl's stomach turn.

Yes, someone I dated a few years ago. Don't ever date someone who's separated. They may go back to their spouse. And you may be in love with that person for the rest of your life.

Have you ever not wanted to fall for someone and tried very hard not to? What happened?

Been there, done that, got the T-shirt.....several times over. It has never worked out well because no matter how much I've resisted I've ended up falling. I think many of us have a type of person that we tend to be attracted to that we know isn't good for us. The red flags fly but there almost seems to be an irresistable magnetism that draws us in in spite of it.

If i dont want to do something i dont do it, so if i dont want to like someone i avoid them like the plague! :D

I've found that this is the only way to deal with that situation because if I stay engaged with the person I know I will fall. Unfortunately, usually I end up hanging around too long and of course the longer you hang around the harder it becomes to turn and run.

Ok let's try the converse. I had a crush on a co-worker, after my wife and I started the divorce process. She had a boyfriend she was having issues with and they have a daughter together, she also wasn't a christian.

Despite my best efforts I was extremely attracted when what I should have been doing to begin with (and what I am doing now) was pray for her and her boyfriend to work things out so that them and their daughter won't have to go through the same crap my ex and I put each other and our kids through.

Sorry if I come off harsh, I'm pretty passionate about this kind of situation now.
