I say exaggeration. I think its possible they exist, but i think the stories of how powerful they are is way overboard. I've heard it that you have to be an ordained witch or warlock, just to be a popular musician and that lyrics are written in a special 'witch language'. I've seen people break down entire music videos looking for any 'sign' of the illuminati, checkerboard floors, anything triangle shaped, showing one eye.. and this is all supposed illuminati brainwashing. I just find most of the stories silly and hard to believe.
I do believe we will eventually face a powerful force in the form of a one world government, but even that i think won't be as powerful as the illuminati is purported to be.

I too have done extensive research and have concluded that it is real. If it is a hoax I congratulate all of people for their time and effort to create this conspiracy plot and back it up for years with authentic looking people, symbolism, doctored photographs, celebrity endorsement and congruent with Biblical revelation time line. You got me. But I'm thinking maybe there is more to it.

I've done my research too, and I hate to sound like a conspiracy theorist, but I don't think this is a theory. I'm not saying everything you see on the Internet is real but I just don't think that after years and years of the same symbolism on music videos, and other symbols on buildings and things that have happened in the world, one can completely ignore this. After all, if the Antichrist is gonna have a one world government, he needs to start working on it decades or centuries before it happens. So, for the most part, I think it's real. I think it's too obvious to hide it now.

I've known of many people who claim to be servants of one or more of this special group, but I've never heard from anyone who claims to be an actual member. I know for a fact that there are several gatherings of influential people who could have such power, but the fact that there are several argues against their being only one with ultimate power.
Even IF there were a real group like the Illuminati it is the height of presumption on their part to think they have the power that is attributed to them. God is ultimately in control and even such a group that makes such claims is subject to God's will.
There is no Illuminati group which could stop a super volcano for instance or a hurricane.

Response to Dude: That may have meant something a little different. I know three stories: 1. There are 10 "ascended masters" (like Horus and Zeus) entombed below Lake Titicaca, and their spirits attach themselves to ten evil, powerful men throughout history. 2. That there are 10 men who gather and have the power to cause all the world's governments to do as they choose. (I suppose this could be the same 10 men, but not every source claims that.) 3. That all the potential men from whom these 10 men could be recruited are "Illuminati"; i.e. certain people are naturally created (by Whom? I must ask) to rule the world, and 10 of them find each other and do it. As far as I know, the historical records refer only to version 3. Version 1-2 are folk legends.
Anybody read Revelations? The new world order isn't going to just come to be like a light turning on and off. Edward Bernay's book Propaganda is about how to change the views and opinions in democratic society. He is the nephew of Sigmund Freud. It was published in the 1920's I think. He describes how you can manipulate the masses but it takes years of planning and development. In the last twenty years homosexuality has gone from taboo to trendy. We can't even say Merry Christmas in public. The economy is as stable as a house of cards. Plagues, famines, war, strange lights in the skies, people are lovers of self, floods earthquakes in strange places, the technology to track global spending and monitor people from outer space. All we need now is a demonic world leader and a false prophet. The stage is set. If you want proof of the Illuminati they signed the US dollar. They marked it with their pyramid and under it in Latin wrote, New World Order.

I have looked into many conspiracy theories and rejected them all, except this one. I believe the Illuminati are very real and a serious threat, although God is in control. From a historic perspective the Illuminati is a fact but it is a bit more difficult to prove they currently exist. They will be the ones who help to bring in the Antichrist.

The Illuminati was a group of scientific and philosophical minds that rebelled against the Catholic Church for demonizing and even killing men of science. They no longer operate and were disbanded like 200 years ago.
All of the conspiracy theories nowadays are just fake. Either it's people TRYING to look like they are Illuminati to get publicity (Lady Gaga, Jay-Z, Ke$ha) or people are mistaking old Masonic or pagan symbols for a new world order conspiracy group.
