The think tank of Goverments of the World is that of controling over the people remove their loberties take control and create perfect laws and peace but first forit is for their greed because they love their lives, second to the false premeise that governments can and willl create utopia for everyone because they are more intellegent and the people are common so therefore they can think for us. Our constitution can and will not allow their power hungry socialistic utopia state to be acutalized so The constitutuiion of the United States is to be removed because it is the oppisite of their heaven on earth (of the points above) impeding their rule. All this is to pave the way for one world government control by one godman christ this is the course of this world wide social systems and will not be turned back by man or God so be it as is wrath will be exercised upon all who love this world, ESCAPE and salvation is the cry that the Holy Spirit is welling up inside of us ywho are wise and humble OO Come Lord Jesus, come to us in the outpouring of the rain, former and latter rain rescue multitudes through your omnipotent Agape Spirit in us and through us.

Alrighty DIVA...YOU are out of line. While no person is forcing YOU to accept that an "ABORTION" is the intentional removal of an unborn baby from the WOMB.

No one is forcing you to accept that, either, or anything else.

However, if you wish to communicate in civilized society, you will need to learn to use words as they are defined and accepted by the general public.

And the generally accepted definition of "abortion" is "the removal of an embryo or fetus at any stage in the pregnancy." This includes miscarriages and medically-assisted abortions as well as voluntary abortions that are not necessary for the woman's survival.

If you want to say that grass is purple, you're certainly free to say that. You would be wrong, and you'd have a lot of trouble communicating with people, but you're welcome to make up anything you want.

So I'm not sure why you say that I am out of line, if you are the one who is making up words and definitions to suit your own personal views. I have not accused you of being out of line, or threatened you in any way. I simply pointed out your error. I don't know why that should be such a huge deal to you. Surely, it is not the first time you have made an error, and I could just about guarantee it won't be the last.

Asserting "the OTHER CHICK" which would be ME
Okay, I didn't remember who it was who had made up a definition of abortion and wanted to use that instead of the actual definition. If it was you, thank you for stepping up and admitting to it. I apologize if you were offended by my reference to you. Since your handle is "BarlyGurl," I don't think you have much room for complaining about being referred to as "that other chick," but I do offer an apology if you are offended.

did redefine or holds the above postition is only going to get you involved in a smackdown.
And threats of violence in such a public forum are probably not wise.

I will not tolerate you or anyone else misrepresenting me or my convictions.
Did I misrepresent you or your views? Are you or are you not the person who, in a discussion with me, made up a definition for the word "abortion" which was not the commonly accepted definition?

If you are not the person who did that, then you are not the person to whom I am referring, and you can get off your high horse, because I'm obviously not referring to you.

If you are the person who did that, I am not "misrepresenting" you or your convictions. I am stating exactly what happened: You made up a definition for the word. You offered no source or reference for it. I pointed out that you were mistaken in your definition, and offered a couple of sources for the proper definition. You ignored those references and insisted on using your own definition.

Again, you're welcome to use any definition you want for any word you want. If you want to communicate with another person, however, you are going to have to learn to speak the same language, which includes using the generally accepted definitions for the words you use.

I am not going to apologize for attempting to help you communicate.

you previously condoned using birthcontrol... and many forms of birthcontrol are... indeed abortafacents.
You are partially correct: I do condone the use of many types of birth control.

Some types of birth control are considered abortive, some are not.

Most -- condoms, diaphragm, etc. -- work to keep the egg from becoming fertilized. No fertilized egg, no conception, and therefore no abortion. Anyone who considers him or herself pro-life is either a hypocrite or an idiot to be against these types of birth control, since they actually decrease the number of abortions.

Some types of birth control work by not allowing the fertilized egg to implant. Now, under the generally accepted definition of "abortion," namely, anything after conception, this would qualify. A side note: the medical field does not consider this abortion, because the egg has not implanted. However, the generally accepted definition of "abortion" does include these cases, and therefore birth control choices such as the pill, IUDs, and similar devices are usually considered abortive.

(See, this is how one discusses things in a civilized society. I know that the term "abortion" has a different medical definition than the way it is used mostly, in the non-medical field. I am deferring to the "commonly accepted" definition rather than to the medical definition. Because I am not speaking to a room full of doctors and nurses, but to a forum of the general public.)

An ectopic removal, such as I experienced about 4 years ago, is an abortion, both in the generally accepted definition of abortion and according to the strict medical definition. It is the removal of a fertilized egg that has implanted.

It seems to me, what is really going on here is that the GRUNGEDIVA way is superior
I'm glad you're finally starting to figure that out.

It's actually quite simply. Don't assert things as fact unless or until you have proof or evidence. If you want to call that "the GRUNGEDIVA" way, fine. I certainly didn't invent it, but it is how I try to conduct myself. And yes, it is superior to throwing a tantrum when one is corrected.

Nobody is 'packing'.
The weapons are in a locked safe.
What good are guns locked in a safe when a madman comes in your classroom? You're going to say, "Hello, Mr. Lunatic. Please wait a minute while I unlock this safe.... Ok, now I'm ready."

I don't know what the answer is, but I know this wouldn't help.

I find myself regretting having posted here. Seems distasteful to me now. I can't delete my post, but I can sincerely apologize for any insensitivity or disrespect I may have shown in this time of national mourning. So many thoughts are going through my heart and mind. Trying to sort them out.
I can't speak for others, but I didn't find your posts distasteful, insensitive or disrespectful at all. I think you spoke from your heart, and that's okay.

Christ's peace.

I've been a student in the education system for most of my life, I ought to know about the quality of the current school system.
Ah, and you are the ONLY one in this forum who has ANY experience in public schools. I see. No one else here could possibly have the huge breadth of experience that you do, even if they're a teacher, principal, or affiliated with public schools in any other way.

The author of my current Social Studies book is a man who advocates forced abortions as population control, and believes that the government should have the right to determine how many children a family may have. That's absolutely wrong.
Ewww. I'm with you there. That IS absolutely wrong.

Plus you don't even have the right to worship freely in schools, a right guaranteed in the Constitution.
Unless your action disrupts another student, you absolutely have the right to worship freely in school.

If your right to pray or worship has been curtailed in any way, I strongly urge you to contact the ACLU. If you are correct, and your Constitution-based freedom has been infringed upon, they will absolutely fight for you.

Of course, if what you mean by "freely worship," is to yell "God hates gays" at the top of your lungs, then, well, yes, that is prohibited. See the "unless" statement above.

Aside from the fact that the intention of the original post was plainly directed at your assertion regarding my position...which IMO most readers would recognize. I will volley your own words back at you...

However, if you wish to communicate in civilized society, you will need to learn to use words as they are defined and accepted by the general public.

WE BEGIN...

the generally accepted definition of "abortion" is "the removal of an embryo or fetus at any stage in the pregnancy." This includes miscarriages and medically-assisted abortions as well as voluntary abortions that are not necessary for the woman's survival.

If the above "definition" were taken strictly... it would also include live-BIRTH, both vaginal and c-cection. Your claim that the above definition is the generally accepted definition is FALSE. Logic follows that otherwise the ABORTION DEBATE would be about people arguing whether they were PRO or ANTI -MISCARRIAGE,C-Section,or BIRTH... which is absurd. The abortion debate is about being PRO or ANTI intentional killing and removal of an unborn baby from the womb. (not to confuse the reader with the added word KILLING, which is omitted above due to the context of referring to the ectopic issue, thus indicated by my emphasis of the word WOMB)

I contend the public, especially the CHRISTIAN PUBLIC generally understands the distictions of: 1) birth comes from the womb- be it live or still, 2)miscarriage being the natural expulsion of a dead baby from the womb and 3)abortion being the intentional killing and removal of a baby from the womb.

So I'm not sure why you say that I am out of line,

YOu were out of line by inserting me into your discourse with jimmydiggs... I am fairly confident most of the audience is also able to make that distinction.

For someone who asserts to use word and their definitions properly and obstinateley clings to a "technical" (albeit broad) definition of "abortion", let me help you communicate. A CHICK is the young offspring of a bird and can be of either sex. Also a duragatory reference of the a woman originating in Urban Slang. HMMM... name calling and hypocrisy noted. Let the reader notice the un-apology by alluding I fit a definition for "CHICK".

laughable... WHERE is there a THREAT of VIOLENCE???? This is an anonymous internet discussion forum. What a RUSE!(THAT means WILY SUBTERFUGE). Try not to assert things as fact unless you have proof or evidence. The only threat here is that I may discredit the validity of your argument before the audience.

???? Because the entire medical field is made up of people who as a whole believe that life begins at "implantation" vs. "at conception"???? there you go with those FACTS without any evidence... what an egregious abuse of qualitative authority.

However, the generally accepted definition of "abortion" does include these cases, and therefore birth control choices such as the pill, IUDs, and similar devices are usually considered abortive. OH my gosh... a concession? EXcept that you have it backwards, the broad term abortion in the medical field means PRE-parturition expulsion from the womb vs Parturition which is birthing. Further, the two previous medical terms are more commonly used in the veterinary field for lack of human compassion regarding the undistinguished use of the general term "abortion". For example... "The mare aborted her foal" not "The mare miscarried her foal" due to the fact that there are no MORAL Connotations involving animals (non-christian animal RIGHTS excluded for contextual reason). As stated previously the "abortion debate" is about the PROCEDURE of intentionally killing of babies in the womb.

An ectopic removal, such as I experienced about 4 years ago, is an abortion, both in the generally accepted definition of abortion and according to the strict medical definition. It is the removal of a fertilized egg that has implanted. OPINION NOT FACT

For the reading audience, an ectopic condition, commonly reffered to as a an ectopic pregnancy is when the zygote fails to decend into the womb and settles either in the abdominal cavity or the fallopian tube where it it CAN develop to the point of rupture the fallopian tube or to a size that that when it dies is large enough to cause toxicity for lack of ability to be expelled since it is not in the WOMB... both scenarios a life threatening to the woman. My point in arguing with Diva is that the "removal procedure" is not an abortion should (hopefully) be apparent as the "pregnancy" is not viable because it is not in the WOMB. God having designed the WOMB for the purpose of the developing the baby and the abdomen and fallopian tubes are not the womb, cannot function as such, nor is there an exit or means of expulsion for this type of "mis-pregnancy" except by surgical intervention which is NOT the same as a c-section.

My God is a god of distinctions... for example "SEX--the marraige bed undefiled, fornication, sodomy, rape" or "Drinking--medicinal,drunkeness, liberty". MY God is neither an author of confusion. Obstinately clinging to this BROAD definition of abortion does violence to every woman who has every miscarried because according to DIVA, that was an abortion. It does violence to every woman I know (except DIVA) who has struggled struggled emotionally after having an ectopic removal. My argument with vocabulary distinctions harmonizes with with "life at conception" and "anti-abortion" values and leaves room for the tender healing mercy of Christ without saying that SOME abortions are acceptable. I sincerely hope in defending this position a reader can find healing, help heal another or has been given clarity to an important and controversial topic.

"I have no interest in debating the isue further as I think I have adequately refuted DIVA's "abortion" argument and I leave it to the audience to decide who argues passionately according to biblical principals and who argues for personal position. I thank the audience for reading.

One could see this thread as having been derailed, but I find it interesting how the respect for human life in one instance drive discussion toward another.

That said, let's stay on task, shall we?

The proper Christian response is to pray that in all of this we see God's hand of healing.

Other than that, I am non-plussed as to what immediate actions to take. A lot of the 'solutions' lie in long-term healing of our culture and family infrastructure.

That and my brother has autism. I do, at times, fear a witch hunt.

I can definately understand the fear of a witch hunt. However, I imagine there was a lot more going on with this kid (or man) than just having Asperger's (now only legally defined as high functioning autism). Its seem like there should have been much more intervention in his life than jus a diagnosis of Autism. There were earlier signs reflecting violence which should not have been ignored. Considering the rate of comorbidity with all of these psychological illnesses, I would think more people would be involved.
I know many people who are on the Autistic spectrum. There are some of them that I know to be a little wary of because of issues with self-control and rage. Most of them are very harmless. One girl I know used to scare the living daylights out of people. She's jewish so she even as a little girl she had a whole mop of dark brown curly hair, and glass blue eyes. Jesus was always what she attached herself to. As a very little girl she would stare at people and tell them to repent. She's 16 now and she knows more scripture than most people I know. She loves the Lord and she loves talking to people about HIm.

Did I say that he was excused. Or did I say that there maybe more to this story. Everyone has trigger points, even you Barlygurl, that causes them to face great temptations to do things or to lose self control. Drugs make people more desperate, because they :must" have that next fix. Injuries to the brain can destroy essential sections that causes people to lose self control, from everything from bladder to emotions. And emotional scars and wounds, if not dealt with, can fester and grow. That is simply what I'm stating.

No you did not say that... and my comment was posed as a question. What I was alluding to was that... WHy can't we just call a sociopath who has committed an intentional evil a sociopath?

After investigative inquiry concludes, are there really ANY mitigating factors for mass homicide? I do have "buttons" but no matter how hard, frequently or in any combined order anybody pushes them... I am not going to commit a mass homicide... because I am not a sociopath. Asserting that a person with brain trauma to the extent they "lose control" is IMO silly, because such a person would not have the cognitive function to PLAN and CARRY OUT and intentional evil that occurred in CT. Needing a drug fix isn't a mitigating factor for mass murder... surely you agree? I "hear" what you are saying... I am just don't see any point, other than for law enforcement investigational purposes in poking around for any mitigating factors. The guy was a sociopath. Can poking around for "triggers" help us determine who the sociopaths are? I don't think so... drug users are not ALL sociopaths, brain truama victims are not all sociopaths, people with festering emotional wounds are not all sociopaths. I see a real problem with the conflict in failing to judge sociopathic behavior as such... instead society tends to excuse it... as in "Johnny isn't very responsible with pets" ... when really "Johnny habitually tortures and flails animals". I say Johnny is a sociopath and I don't care where Johnny's problem originates from or do I believe it can be determined.

Thank you for your participation.

Just a few points.

If the above "definition" were taken strictly... it would also include live-BIRTH, both vaginal and c-cection.
You are correct. My definition was not complete enough. I was assuming that it was a given that, since we are talking about abortion, this was excluding births in which the baby survives. Had you looked at the links I provided for those definitions, you would see most of them also assumed that, as well, and didn't mention anything that would exclude live birth or c-section. Strictly speaking, however, you are 100% correct. The definition I have provided (and which agrees with many sources I have found online and offline) is imprecise.

If you would be willing to share where you are getting your "generally accepted definition," I would be happy to look at it, and accept that perhaps the several sources I have are indeed incorrect. Webster, Wiki, Mirriam, and several other reputable sources may all be wrong -- I'm willing to concede that, if adequate evidence is presented. Before that happens, you need to provide at least one resource to support your claim that your definition is "more accepted" than mine. Otherwise, you're just blowing smoke.

A CHICK is the young offspring of a bird and can be of either sex. Also a duragatory reference of the a woman originating in Urban Slang. HMMM... name calling and hypocrisy noted. Let the reader notice the un-apology by alluding I fit a definition for "CHICK".
I have not heard "chick" used as a derogatory term. In fact, I've almost always heard it used as a term of endearment. A quick look at the ONLINE URBAN DICTIONARY confirms my understanding, that it is rarely considered derogatory, and in modern parlance is actually a complement, usually implying that the person referred to is especially attractive. This source, however, does indicate that some women find it offensive, so I will apologize for offending you. I absolutely did not intend it as an insult, but if you took it as such, I am sorry your feelings were hurt. I hope you realize that, at least from my worldview, "chick" is a nicer way of referring to a female than "gurl," and certainly not derogatory if you can't remember a female person's name, but only remember that the person was female. That was my only intention in the use of the term.

WHERE is there a THREAT of VIOLENCE????
In that same Urban Dictionary, "Smackdown" implies violence. That you do not have the means to carry out the violence does not make the term any less violent. I do not expect an apology from you, based on your past behavior in this forum. Simply pointing out that your statement is in violation of the terms of this forum.

???? Because the entire medical field is made up of people who as a whole believe that life begins at "implantation" vs. "at conception"???? there you go with those FACTS without any evidence... what an egregious abuse of qualitative authority.
You're right - I shouldn't expect you (or anyone else for that matter) to just accept this on my say-so. So here are a few sites that show medical authority; the first one is in fact from a pro-life source, soas not to show bias.
Abortion: Some Medical Facts
Abortion -- Medical Definition

EXcept that you have it backwards, the broad term abortion in the medical field means PRE-parturition expulsion from the womb vs Parturition which is birthing.
And in all this, you have still provided absolutely zero references.

My point in arguing with Diva is that the "removal procedure" is not an abortion should (hopefully) be apparent as the "pregnancy" is not viable because it is not in the WOMB.
And yet the doctors, the insurance company, and my priest all referred to it as a spontaneous abortion. A pregnancy need not be viable for there to be an abortion. In fact, most abortions are done long before the pregnancy is viable.

I have never heard anyone make the distinction you are making, that it's only an abortion if the cells are removed from the womb as opposed from any other part of the body. I have to assume that you do not consider birth control devices such as condoms, diaphragms, and spermicidal gel, to be abortive, since there is nothing removed from a womb in these cases, either. I have asked for any evidence that anyone in the world sees it this way besides you. You have had ample opportunity to provide said evidence, and have responded only by hurling insults and threats at me.

And you honestly think any impartial reader would consider what you have done an "adequate refutation"?

Really?

Mercy, it wouldn't surprise me if your arguments convinced some pro-lifers to become pro-choice.

Israel is the most 'terrorized' nation on earth.
Do you want to know why there are not instances of terrorists entering schools in that country and shooting the place up?
Because each class room has a weapon at the teacher's disposal.
In other words they have something more than their body to shield the children in their care.
Can we see an alternative motive in leaving the schools in the U.S. open for becoming locked down butchering grounds?

Funny how the first thing you mention is Israel why are right wing conservatives so madly obsessed with this country. lol

On our local news i noticed they began to ask the right question about the problem. They were interviewing several different people and it slipped out. Some one ask "where were the police that work at the schools",the police chief ask who?, and said we dont have enough officers to put in every school. Then they said that they said that in all of the school shootings they noticed their was never a shootout with the police so they wondered where they went. And again the officials said we dont have the man power to put a police officer in every school,we dont know what you mean. Then the news man said he had noticed these thing's from watching the clips from "world news now" where they are warning us not to believe everything we see on the internet. And then said that it was pointed out that at none of the schools where any of these shootings i.e.Virginia,Columbine,sandy-hook ect. there were never any of the shooters confronted by the police on duty., Now again the officials said we dont have enough police to put one in every school,we dont know what you mean. Then he said no,we all know each day we go to town in every city and town in america, each time we drive by the school in the morning and every day in the afternoon that you better do the speed limit because if you dont and you speed through the school zone you will get a big ticket. Now the police then said well, yes that's true at every school we post an officer to watch the school zones, cross walks, bus entrance ect.,,,Then the news man ask,"the police officer you sent to sandy hook the morning the shooting took place, where was he, when the gunman drove thru the school zone, walked down the crosswalk, across the bus circle and in the front door with a bushmaster .223? To say the least that was the end of the interview, the officials got up and left. I sure wish they show that interview again instead of the ones they are

Funny how the first thing you mention is Israel why are right wing conservatives so madly obsessed with this country. lol

I think it has to do with how fundamentalists and evangelicals believe that the Prophetic books refer to the future, a time that has not happened yet, rather than the past, that the Prophets were describing their current situation. A lot of them don't even realize that "Prophet" doesn't mean "fore-teller" or 'fortune-teller," and the word has nothing to do with reading the future. "Prophet" simply means "one who speaks the word of God." And in Scripture, it has always been understood that the prophets were describing present and past events, not future ones. Even when speaking in future tense. Much of the problem comes from mis-translations from Hebrew (which has funky ways of using tenses).

Anyway, so they think all those passages about Israel are referring to stuff that hasn't happened yet, and the creation of the Nation of Israel in 1948 is one of the "signs" that the world is ending, and Jesus' 2nd Coming is upon us. The sad thing is, they're all so caught up in that, they missed Jesus' 2nd coming, which was almost 2,000 years ago. Almost all of the predictions that describe Jesus' "return" refer to his resurrection. Otherwise, those speaking them would have already been proven wrong, because they said "some of you will still be alive when these things come to pass," and no one who was alive when those words were spoken are still alive today. Jesus' second coming was his resurrection. Yes, I believe he will come again, but that would be a 3rd coming, and very different from what most evangelicals describing, when they mish-mash Scripture passages that were intended to describe present and past events as if they were referring to the future.

I know you didn't ask why that was, you just said it was funny, but I thought you might be interested to know the reason behind it.

I'm finding it hard to accept the sincerity of pro-choicers when they call for new laws because of this tragedy, given the fact they advocate the crushing of the heads of the unborn.

I'm pretty sure there is a different between understand a woman's decision to have a baby or not it her decision and brutally murdering 6 and 7 year olds whose parents willingly brought them into the world and had hopes and dreams for them. Not everyone who is pro-choice is for abortion; some people who are pro-choice understands it's a woman's decision what she does to her body and future.

I can't remember who one here said it, but someone said a prevention of this would have been preventing bullying. I don't think that is the case in any school shooting. Most people who come in to shoot up a school are psychopaths. Meaning they show no remorse and blame everything on other people while never taking responsibility for their actions. Yah, bullying has affects on people but I really don't think bullying alone is a reason behind a school shooting.
Also for gun control, horrible idea. I've heard 2 sides and think they are both bad ideas. One idea is to take away guns..... then all the criminals have a guns and the innocent have no way to protect themselves. The second idea is to give guns to teachers..... ummmm bad idea.... teachers can snap too. The thought of my future children having teachers who carry guns is scary.
