It's true orthodox Jews believe the foundation stone at the heart of the Dome of the Rock in Jerusalem is the holiest site in Judaism (Midrash Tanhuma, chapter 10) and where they believe the location of the Holy of Holies was in the Temple. Jewish tradition views it as the spiritual junction of heaven and earth.

But Israel is a secular nation and not as religious as most Americans think. The state of Israel has no desire to provoke about a million suicide bombers to rush them from what would be an enraged worldwide population of over 1.6 billion Muslims. The Dome of the Rock may not be the holiest site in Islam but it is one of the most holy sites for Muslims who believe the foundation stone was the spot Muhammad ascended to heaven accompanied by the angel Gabriel. Many would willingly sacrifice their own lives to preserve or reclaim this symbol of their faith.

Israel has already had a number of wars throughout their history but always with only some of their Muslim neighbors.

If they ran troops over the Dome of the Rock and dismantled the Islamic shrine all hell would break loose: literally.

I find it strange that Israel the nation let the islamic shrine remain standing in Jerusalem...

Do we consider that this is man made and a world political move of 1948?

Is this part of the deception to deceive people?

He must be for the nation of Israel then since they have not attempted such a foolish action.

I don't believe so. The new nation of Israel being restored in 1948, to the exact year, is a direct fulfillment of two day-year prophecies, therefore it is an integral part of God's overall plan.

The Almighty could wipe the enemy's away but all things are coming to pass for the Harvest.

Even this dual covenant theology will ripen the fruit in rejection of course.

Let none of us forget that the war that took place before this move of 1948 played a big part.

Obviously, just because God can do something doesn't mean that He has, does, or will. He could have prevented the death of 262 million people that were killed in war just last century (e.g. the 20th century).

Millions of them were Jews. Many of the rest were Christians.

Just because God can do something doesn't mean He will. God respects the freewill of human beings. As for your peculiar eschatology, everyone has an opinion. Your own isn't of particular importance to me.

The Almighty could wipe the enemy's away but all things are coming to pass for the Harvest.

Even this dual covenant theology will ripen the fruit in rejection of course.

I don't think Israelis believe that anymore. In an article by Israeli archaeologists Arthur F. Kaufman in the March 1983 edition of Biblical Archaeology Review, Kaufman wrote that holes in the bedrock, based on the sacred cubit, found on the northern edge of the temple platform, showed beyond reasonable doubt that Kodesh ha Kodeshim (Holy of Holies) in the original Temple of Solomon stood some 300 feet north and slightly west of the Dome of the Rock. The Dome stands in what was once known as the Court of the Gentiles.

Right to the year . . .

Revelation 12:6 "And the woman (Israel) fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days."

1948-1260=688 A.D., the exact year that the Islamic governor of the holy land, Kalipha Abd el Malik ibn Marwan, began construction of the Dome of the Rock on the Temple Mount of God most holy.

They are divided on the actual location. I thought you knew this already. Modern Jewish academics list four possible locations of the Foundation Stone:

The Hidden Secrets of the Temple Mount

1. The stone that was located beneath the Ark of the Covenant is the one under the Dome of the Rock.

2. The stone that was located beneath the altar is now the one that is under the Dome of the Rock.

3. The stone that was located beneath the Ark of the Covenant is now near El Kas fountain to the south of the Dome of the Rock.

4. The stone that was located beneath the Ark of the Covenant is now inside the Spirits Dome situated to the north of the Dome of the Rock.

Ezekiel 37

The word of the LORD came again unto me, saying, 16Moreover, thou son of man, take thee one stick, and write upon it, For Judah, and for the children of Israel his companions: then take another stick, and write upon it, For Joseph, the stick of Ephraim, and for all the house of Israel his companions: 17And join them one to another into one stick; and they shall become one in thine hand. 18And when the children of thy people shall speak unto thee, saying, Wilt thou not shew us what thou meanest by these? 19Say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will take the stick of Joseph, which is in the hand of Ephraim, and the tribes of Israel his fellows, and will put them with him, even with the stick of Judah, and make them one stick, and they shall be one in mine hand. 20And the sticks whereon thou writest shall be in thine hand before their eyes. 21And say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will take the children of Israel from among the heathen, whither they be gone, and will gather them on every side, and bring them into their own land: 22And I will make them one nation in the land upon the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king to them all: and they shall be no more two nations, neither shall they be divided into two kingdoms any more at all: 23Neither shall they defile themselves any more with their idols, nor with their detestable things, nor with any of their transgressions: but I will save them out of all their dwellingplaces, wherein they have sinned, and will cleanse them: so shall they be my people, and I will be their God.24And David my servant shall be king over them; and they all shall have one shepherd: they shall also walk in my judgments, and observe my statutes, and do them. 25And they shall dwell in the land that I have given unto Jacob my servant, wherein your fathers have dwelt; and they shall dwell therein, even they, and their children, and their children's children for ever: and my servant David shall be their prince for ever. 26Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them; it shall be an everlasting covenant with them: and I will place them, and multiply them, and will set my sanctuary in the midst of them for evermore. 27My tabernacle also shall be with them: yea, I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 28And the heathen shall know that I the LORD do sanctify Israel, when my sanctuary shall be in the midst of them for evermore.
Who is the King to rule them?

Who is their Shepherd?

Goodnight brethren, it's 3AM here, way past time to don my jammies and bedside prayer . . .

"Now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray the Lord my soul to keep,
And if I die before I wake,
I pray the Lord my soul to take,
And if I'm here another day,
I pray the Lord to guide my way,
In Jesus' name, amen.

While many will believe with their eyes the things that come to pass...

Others will await in Spirit.

Revelation 21

And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. 2And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. 4And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.5And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.6And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. 7He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. 8But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
9And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb's wife.
10And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, 11Having the glory of God: and her light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal; 12And had a wall great and high, and had twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names written thereon, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel: 13On the east three gates; on the north three gates; on the south three gates; and on the west three gates. 14And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.
15And he that talked with me had a golden reed to measure the city, and the gates thereof, and the wall thereof. 16And the city lieth foursquare, and the length is as large as the breadth: and he measured the city with the reed, twelve thousand furlongs. The length and the breadth and the height of it are equal. 17And he measured the wall thereof, an hundred and forty and four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of the angel. 18And the building of the wall of it was of jasper: and the city was pure gold, like unto clear glass.19And the foundations of the wall of the city were garnished with all manner of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, a chalcedony; the fourth, an emerald; 20The fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolite; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, a topaz; the tenth, a chrysoprasus; the eleventh, a jacinth; the twelfth, an amethyst. 21And the twelve gates weretwelve pearls; every several gate was of one pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass.
22And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it. 23And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof. 24And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it. 25And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there. 26And they shall bring the glory and honour of the nations into it. 27And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life.

hi AoK.
i'm simply responding to this, your post about 'the stone':)
then i'll be off here.
maybe i'll make a Corner Stone thread.

the subject is the search for the corner stone (of the temple).

i wonder why ppl don't know where the Corner Stone is.

i wonder if the Builders who rejected the Chief Corner Stone are Muslims.

i wonder why unregenerate ppl think a stone cut by human hands has any value aside from being a millstone.
anyways...

Psalm 118:22
The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone;

Isaiah 28:16
So this is what the Sovereign LORD says: "See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation; the one who trusts will never be dismayed.

Mark 12:10
Haven't you read this scripture: "'The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone;

Luke 20:17
Jesus looked directly at them and asked, "Then what is the meaning of that which is written: "'The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone'?

Acts 4:11
He is "'the stone you builders rejected, which has become the capstone.'

Romans 9:33
As it is written: "See, I lay in Zion a stone that causes men to stumble and a rock that makes them fall, and the one who trusts in him will never be put to shame."

Matthew 21:43
"Therefore I tell you that the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people who will produce its fruit.

1 Peter 2:7
Now to you who believe, this stone is precious. But to those who do not believe, "The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone,"

Of course I'm aware of those various views, number 4 is correct, scripturally, archaeologically, and prophetically.

1. Scripturally: 2 Chronicles 3:1 states: "Then Solomon began to build the house of the LORD at Jerusalem in mount Moriah, where the LORD appeared unto David his father, in the place that David had prepared in the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite." so the Temple was built over a threshingfloor. Pictures of as Sakhra, the promontory under the Dome of the Rock is rough and full of holes. No farmer in his right mind would try to thresh on that rock, particularly when there was a perfectly flat rock, at almost the same elevation, only 300 feet away.

2. Archaeologically: The Israelites had two similar units of measure, the profane cubit, the distance from the elbow to the fingertip (roughly 18"), and the sacred cubit, the distance from the elbow to the fingertip plus a span (nominally 21 5/8"). Israeli archaeologist, Arthur F. Kaufman, found holes in the bedrock based on the sacred cubit on the northern edge of the temple platform. Since temple dimensions were given in Scripture, Kaufman determined that the Ark of the Covenant did indeed rests on bedrock, that perfectly flat rock (suitable for threshing) under the Dome of the Spirits. furthermore, that put the Solomonic temple in line with the Gate Beautiful in the eastern wall of Jerusalem.

3. Prophetically: Revelation 11:2 states: "But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months." So the Dome of the Rock was not built in the same space the Temple was, it was built outside the location of the Temple, in what was known as the "Court of the Gentiles." Incidentally, 42 months is 1278.34 days. Jerusalem was freed of Gentile control on June 6, 1967. In -1278.34 = 688.66, the exact year the Islamic Kalifah Abd el Malik ibn Marwan began construction of the Dome of the Rock, "the abomination that maketh desolate," on the Temple Mount of God most holy.
