It always cracks me up when they show people using the basic method of completing a task. They are always making a huge mess and straining to get whatever they are trying to do, accomplished. The last one that comes to mind was over a spaghetti strainer. Food was pouring out all over the floor, stove, and on herself. It's not rocket science, but in a world that is fueled by impatience and laziness people crave for things to be simpler and simpler. Some tasks are already... well... SIMPLE.

Somethings are absolutely amazing that they come out with, but most have me scratching my head and saying, "REALLY!?"

But it does show just how low as a society we have fallen.

My friend bought an ab roller when they first came out years ago and it really worked. You could see he was starting to get a six pack after only several weeks of using it. He was slim to begin with but I was still impressed. I tried it a few times while I was at his house and you could really feel it targeting the abs, even better than crunches would. They now sell these at stores like wal mart.

I think I would buy things but atm I just don't have the money to waste. I want a steam cleaner.

Spoken like a woman who has taken microbiology. After that class I didn't want to touch anything. I want the steam cleaner too!

Yeh the day we had to culture the lab really left an impression! 16 petri dishes of yuk from the floor, under the tables, pens laying around. blueggh

I also want a carpet cleaner. I live in a rented flat. I want to see my carpets change colour!

and I just so an ad for one.

I've never really seen any infomercials where I thought "I HAVE to have that!"

I rarely react to the pitch. I react to the LEAD UP to the pitch. You know, the scenes in black and white, showing those poor souls trying to do some mundane task that is unthinkably difficult and failing miserably, because they don't have the product that's about to be shown. It always ends with the person getting fed up to the point that they throw down their mop or fling their frying pan into the garbage, or they're constantly stabbing their hands with the kitchen knife or they stick their Bluetooth earpiece into their nostril because THIS IS JUST SO CONFUSING AND DIFFICULT WHY CAN'T I HOLD ALL THESE ORANGES!!!

I am dumbfounded by these people. Do they really exist? Here are some of my thoughts.

"Really? You are unable to flip an egg in a teflon pan with a spatula? Yet somehow you managed to put your pants on correctly."

"Every brownie recipe in existence starts with buttering and flouring the pan. This is not rocket science."

"Because no human being has ever figured out how to stack store-bought plastic containers and their lids neatly. Everyone just throws them in the cupboard and slams the door shut, because, that's what logical people do, obviously."

"Pancakes are not this difficult. And if they are, then you solve the problem by buying a waffle iron instead of...oh, a special spatula! That's going to fix the fact that they didn't oil the pan, sure."

"Orrrrrr...you could learn to cut your food the right way, and then all you need is a knife and a cutting board. No disassembly required."

Ah, the American spirit of entreprenuership. Built on the adage that there's a sucker born every minute.

Sidenote - the TURBIETOWEL IS AWESOME. It's the one product that completely lives up to its claims that I've tried. If you have long hair and you refuse to blowdry (as I do), they are indispensible.

If you think people like this don't exist you've spent too much time in the world of Pink cartoon horses, come back to us humans, haha.

Ahem. Only SOME of them are pink. Some.

Hmm. on my screen he looks pink like the uhh.... color pink... o.o

Big Mac is definitely red. The image I took it from, plus minor tweaks in your monitor's RGB settings may having him looking a little pink. He's not my favorite pony, but he is best male pony. Overall best pony is his sister, Applejack.

This thread is COMPLETELY derailed, which is frustrating because

So let's save ponies for another conversation, and get back to the As Seen On TV products.

We've already heard testimonials for the Instyler, the Genie Bra, the Turbie Towel, the Magic Bullet, Wen, and the Steam Shark. I've also found Sham-wows to live up to their claim. Anyone else have experiences to share?

That. Was. Hilarious. I almost spit out the milk I was drinking. Your whole post was funny but something about the oranges got me.

Tell me more about this Turbietowel. I have long-ish thick hair that takes forever to dry but I don't blowdry it because I'm not patient enough for that, it's boring, and it makes my hair look like I touched one of those static globes.

I got the name wrong - it's actually the Turbie Twist. I didn't order it from the ads on TV, but like most ASOTV products, they show up in the stores after a couple of months. I have four or five. This woman on the You Tubes actually covers the product both thoroughly and concisely.
