Inspired by leelee's "How Come?" thread asking why so many threads get derailed and people end up talking about food.

As of this post, this thread is no longer about Old Earth vs. Young Earth. Nor is is about Middle Earth, although hobbits are pretty cool. No, it's about cheese.

Discuss your favorite cheese. Mine is smoked gouda, although havarti is great in a grilled sandwich. Hobbits may be discussed as long as it is in the context of what their cheese preference might be.

CHEESE............GO!!!

Cream cheese. It tastes yummy and it's super versatile because it can be used for savory dishes or sweet dishes.
Freshly grated parmesan cheese. SO much better than the store bought powder stuff.
Sharp cheddar. The sharper the better. :D I love cheese and crackers and sharp cheddar goes the best with it.

There is a local diner here that makes the BEST grilled cheese I've ever had. It's right across from where I work so I sometimes get it for lunch. :)

Cheese is just awesome. Good thread, CatHerder.

*swoons*

Lurrrrrve me some smoked gouda! Although smoked swiss ranks ever so slightly higher, in my humble opinion.

I have yet to find anything that can't be improved with pepperjack or a punchy bleu. I admit, I have not yet attempted a cheesecake with either of those, but were one made and offered to me, I would dive in without a second thought.

(Still don't understand why ANYONE would take ranch over bleu cheese.)

I can't remember where I had it, but I had a bleu cheese burger once where there was not only bleu cheese on top, but there were bits of bleu cheese inside the burger. Mmmm.

Actually, a savory cheesecake with crumpled bacon on top sounds really good...

I've never met a cheese I didn't like.

Except for that low-fat Yarlsberg swiss from costco. That stuff tastes like plastic.

That reminds me of those cheese slices that come wrapped individually in plastic. I'll eat them if I have to, on a sandwhich, but they are at the bottom of the cheese-chain. They're hardly cheese. In fact, they are described as "pasteurized cheese product." Not cheese...cheese PRODUCT. Bleh.

Not at all. It's terribly delightful to know that FINALLY I'm not the only one who likes "that stinky cheese." We're Friends du Frommage!

I have had such a concoction, and with slices of bacon. A finer burger, I have not yet had. (As a native New Mexican, I am obligated to designate the classic Green Chile Cheeseburger as King Burger Jong-Il, but despite my heritage, the Bleu Cheese Bacon reigns supreme, while the Green Chile classic remains number two. It's okay, Gee See See Bee. You my family, yo, and I will always love you, but there's a Bleu Cheese Bacon-shaped hole that God put in my digestive tract. Just how it is.)

Woman, do you not know what you do? Have you the understanding????

Now that you've suggested it?
It must be done.

This will have to be at least a 2-3 day project. Will wait for summer break. This will happen. Mark my words.

Careful if you post pics - - it might be considered porn, and thus, against the rules.

Maaaan, if posting food porn is wrong, I don't wanna be right! (Said every person on Instagram, ever. Remember when we just used to eat food, instead of photgraphing it? What happened, world?)

A few years ago I visited a shop in a little town near Amsterdam that sold only cheese. There wasn't any plastic or cardboard to be seen, only cheese. There were huge rounds of cheese, bricks of cheese, all kinds of cheese most from local farms. Lots of cheese had mold on it. The shop owner spoke English and said that cheese shouldn't be made from processed milk, his wasn't, and from the aroma and taste of his cheese, I agree with him.

Course, I had to come home to American supermarkets, but it seems to me people who live where there are shops like that must live in a kind of heaven on earth.

Dude, that website is LOADED with brain-exploding savory cheesecake genius-ness. That mushroom-crabmeat cheesecake recipe? Herbed cheesecake? These things sound so sinfully cheesetastic that they're probably illegal in the Bible Belt!
